He must have been way in his head if he thought that just because he found her, they would be one happy family.

'Give her time'

Most people told him that, but how much time had he lost not being with her? They couldn't understand him, understand how he was feeling after seeing her after so long.

He was driving to Lisa's house, she atleast needed to hear everything from him than from another person. He knew he was going to hurt her but the truth had always hurt and at the same time let people free. His wife was back and like a love struck teenager his feelings for her were stronger. Maybe stronger than even before now that he knew he had a daughter and Lisa needed to know that. That he cared for her but he still loved his wife.

At first he doubted Kylie was his daughter, which is why hours later after Marcus was brought back from New Zealand with the help of the police, Roman had been the first to visit him in prison. It pissed him off, how Marcus asked about Mikaella and Kylie as if he-he was her husband. When he popped the question to Marcus, he had already braced himself for what was to come next.

If Kylie wasn't his daughter, he would still love her as his own, because she mattered to Mikaella and if she was his kid, then he would make up for lost time even though the kid considered Marcus as her dad.

"She's yours, Cervantes. The little girl is yours",Marcus had said straightforwardly.

All the anger he had reserved for the douche had dissipated. He had a daughter with Mikaella. That meant she was pregnant before she even had the accident.

Parking his car just by the side of the road, he got out moving towards the house just across the street.

He knocked not once and certainly not twice. He had called the school first and the secretary had been gracious enough to tell him that Lisa was not in and neither was she in the previous day.

"Lisa! Lisa, come on if you can hear me, open the door. Lise? Lisa?" He knocked but nothing.

The thought of knocking the door down came to him but what if she wasn't inside and he ended up not only crushing her heart but her home too?

"Hey buddy, whatcha -whatcha doing there?"

A man spoke and he turned around to see a fat dude in cargo shorts and a polo shirt staring at him oddly as if he were an abusive ex wanting to burglarize his lover's home.

"Ah-I'm looking for the woman who lives here. Blonde, tall, pretty. Have you heard from her by any chance?I'm a friend "

"Oh you asking about Lisa, huh? I'm sorry, buddy. She skipped town two to three days ago"

"Did she leave an address of any kind or an explanation why she was leaving perhaps?"

"No, I'm sorry. She just seemed to be in a hurry"

"Thanks a lot",Roman said going back to his car.

Was he relieved? Maybe. Was he worried about her? Definitely. Her skipping town must have saved him from talking to her but he also hoped that she was okay wherever it was she went. The only thing he needed to sort out at the moment was his son.

After the rough reunion yesterday, Seth hadn't come home. Like a responsible father he had made some calls, tracked his phone and ofcourse he had to be at someplace where Roman wouldn't guess. He was at Kevin's place and Roman had to suck it up, go there, ask Seth to come home and apologize to his brother for everything.

He didn't know where to even start, apologize for breaking his jaw, apologize for the silence all these years, apologize for putting the blame on him when it clearly wasn't Kevin's fault. Though he hated to admit it without Kevin and his girl friend, Mikaella wouldn't be back in his life.

One way or another, he had to patch things up with his brother for being a dick to him for all those years.

...

He stood by the door placing his thumb on the pad while the buzzer went off. Kevin opened the door for him and they locked eyes.

"He's inside",Kevin muttered welcoming him in.

His bruises were still visible and Roman felt even more guilty than he felt on his way to Kevin's house.

Kevin's place looked better than the last time he visited. It had more of a feminine touch like a certain female had made some changes in the house.

When they reached the living room, Seth was seated on his couch busy playing videogames on Kevin's TV.

"Hey, daddy's here. Atleast he can get your sulking butt from my couch",Kevin said and for a minute Roman missed talking to him.

Hearing Kevin joke or whine over Chloe. Turns out Chloe leaving him hardened him. A few years in prison had changed him to be more mature and Roman where he stood felt sorry for not being in Kevin's life to see him grow up or mature. He should have visited him in jail, he should have contacted Kevin the minute he got out of jail or atleast tried to do something for him back in prison.

Yet all it took was Mikaella to reappear so that he would see how much of a loser big brother he was.

"Hey"

Roman started, seating next to Seth on the couch.

"Look dad if you are here to talk about her then you are wasting your breath. I'm not just going to welcome her into my life like she didn't leave"

"Her? Is that what you are calling your mother in nowadays? Seth, she didn't leave you and I both know that. That accident took her from us. Where's the little kid that used to wish for her mother to be back on his every birthday?"

"That kid grew up, dad. I used to wish that she would come back to us because she made me a promise. She told me she would never leave me and she-she left",Seth cried.

It was the first time they were even talking about Mikaella since her supposed death. Roman knew it was hard on him and like the father he had always been, he offered his shoulder, watching his son shed the tears he had held for so long. Watching him let out all those emotions he had bottled up for all those years.

"Your mother loved you more than anything. She might not remember us but I could see it in her eyes when she saw you. She loves you, Seth. She didn't leave us, she was forced to leave. That man kept her hidden from us so don't put the blame on her. She might not have been there for you in the past but she's here now and that's all that counts"

He patted his son's shoulder. Mikaella was back and that's all that counted.

Suddenly his phone buzzed against his pants, and he parted from his son to take the call.

"Marga, what's wrong?"

"Ma'am Mikaella is here. She says she wants to talk to you"

He raised his brows in confusion, how had she even managed to get out of the condo without him knowing? Were the men he put in charge to protect her with her on her way to his house?

"I'm on my way"

"What's wrong?" Seth asked.

"Your-mom. She's at home. She wants to talk to me. You don't have to come with me if you are not ready but you have to do me a favor. Watch over your sister, she must be all alone"

"What?"

"I'll explain it later. Here's the address"

And Roman left. The drive home was nothing short of stressful and filled with anxiety. Had she regained her memory? Did she want a divorce? At this point, he had to think of the worse and be brave enough to accept what was to come.

"Roman",she started.

"Did something happen? Is Kylie okay? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I'm here to talk about Marcus"

What more was there to talk about the guy? He was a criminal, nothing more and he would surely rot in prison as long as Roman lived.

"What about him?"

"I went to visit him today and I know you are not going to like me saying this but I want you to drop the charges you've filed against him"

"What? Mikaella, he is not your husband, I am. He lied to you for all those years, he took you away from us and you want me to let him get away with that?"

"I know everything, Roman. You lied to me too, didn't you? Marcus did what he did because of what you and your brother did. You took away his family and he took away yours, that makes it even. I might not sound like the old me but I want everything to be over. You might be Kylie's father but the man behind bars is who Kylie has known as his dad for all these years. Believe it or not, I'm doing this for my daughter. I don't want her growing up thinking that Marcus is a bad person"

"And I'm doing this for my family. I don't want to lose you and our daughter again"

"You'll not. If you drop the charges, I'll willingly come back to you. And we could be like we were before"

He weighed in his options. Letting Marcus go was something he couldn't do but was he willing to lose Mikaella again? Because if he refused the offer, the more Mikaella and his daughter would push away from him.
