《A beautiful mistake》51

Her hair teased his nose and he pulled her close. Mikaella loved him. Though the tiniest part of his brain questioned everyday whether what he was doing was right and wrong. Thinking about it, on that day, he was the one there. He was the one who got there first and rescued her.
Now if he hadn't staged a dead corpse in her car, ordered Joe and Colt to burn the car and fake the DNA reports then Mick could have been dead. Tried to be murdered again by his brother in law, Leonardo Grayson. So despite how his conscience gnawed on him day by day he saw this as fate.
As if God was trying to give him a second chance at happiness with Mikaella's amnesia being a sign from Him. They continued watching the tv show 'Lucifer' and it irked him everytime Mick asked him,"Whether Lucifer was hot or not"
"Don't you just love his ascent?" She cooed and he sighed irritably.
"I could do better than that,"he sighed, "what's the point of watching it if you picked the show because Lucifer is 'so hot" he mimicked the last part.
"It's better than watching Terminator. Marcus are you jealous?"
"First of all it should be babe and maybe I am. Maybe you are giving this Lucious guy more attention"
She took the remote pausing the tv at the exact moment Detective Decker was chasing after some guy on the beach. Turning to face him in a macho way, she cupped his cheeks with her hands.
"Babe, I love you. You have all of me, y-you had all of me yester night. You are the guy of my dreams, my hero, my hubby, the father of my-"
She paused and that had him worried. Had she remembered anything about her son? Or more her husband? No, she couldn't have. The doctor said it would take months, years even and ooh he had prayed for it to be years or for her to never regain her memory.

"The father of your kids. And I'll be the best father in the world to our mini you's and me's"
He chuckled, considering the idea of being a father. Since Mick had her accident the whole revenge thing had faded in his mind like vapor, Mick was his redemption. He couldn't save Ruby but he saved Mick. He couldn't have his ever after with Ruby but maybe he would with Mick. H-his kid with Ruby died but maybe he could have more with Mick. Ruby would have wanted him to be happy regardless of the situation. Mikaella was happier. Happier with him than he was with Roman Cervantes. They wouldn't miss her, they wouldn't miss someone they'd easily treated like a second choice, right?
"Babe. I-At the hospital w-when you went to get coffee, the doctor said something. Something that I should have told you but I was scared that maybe it wasn't part of your plan. Our plans,"she muttered and somehow he remembered that day at the hospital.
He'd spent the night at the hospital uncomfortable of the couch he was sleeping in. Come the next morning when the doctor came to check up on her, he had left to take coffee then coming back to the room Mick's face had somehow turned pale. Following his guts, he had asked the doctor discreetly what was going on but he had casually said 'everything was okay.'
And like an idiot, he had believed him. But was everything ok? Was Mick still in harm's way? Did the mild headaches she had at the beginning an indicator of any haemorrhage? Did she? Was she? Dying? All the thoughts came stinging at him once.
"I-I told the doctor not to tell you-"
"Rue, what is it?" He even sat up crawling to his own side of the couch.

The warmth that had engulfed them on the couch dissipated and he wanted nothing more but to pull the words out of her mouth.
"I-i'm pregnant"
At first it was like he hadn't heard her right. She was pregnant. Pregnant. The word was so foreign to him. Memories of Ruby telling him years ago she was pregnant came to his mind, how surprised he was and how various mixed emotions played in his mind. The same mixed emotions flogged his entire body. She was pregnant. God, she was pregnant, but the child was someone else's. But the kid would be his. The kid would be the child he lost and this time he wouldn't lose him or her.
He would fight for it, he would be there, he would nail fatherhood come what may. This time fate was in his hands and the thoughts that he was going to be a father again made the fuzzy feeling in his heart reignite.
"Marcus? Marc-"
"You. Are. Pregnant. Huh,"he stopped to chuckle in amazement,"Pregnant"
"Yeah? Are you sure you are okay? I didn't mean to-"
And from where she was, Marcus hauled her into his chest almost knocking the lungs out of his air.
"I'm going to be a father. We are going to be parents!" he huffed a single tear escaping from his eye.
It was a tear of happiness. The one thing he thought he wouldn't have since Ruby died. And now? He would have a kid and even though the blood in it's veins wouldn't be his, he would be the father. He would there to watch his kid grow up, his kid learn how to talk, his kid giggle, his kid talk.
He parted from the hug, his hands steady ok his cheeks,
"Are you okay? Are you hungry? Should I get you anything? What about yesterday-were we supposed to do that while you know you are-"
"Love, look at me. Look at me. I'm fine. I'm healthy and no whatever we did yesterday won't affect the baby"
"Our baby" he corrected.
"Yes, our baby,"she took his large trembling hands and rested it on her tummy. The tummy that come the next months would be enlarged.
They were going to have a baby and he still couldn't contain his happiness.
