《A beautiful mistake》47

Her eyes fluttered open, the unfamiliar scent of medicines and ammonia hitting her nostrils. She tried moving, tried opening her mouth but the thing plunged in her mouth like a snorkel prevented her from doing so.
"Doctor! Doctor! She's awake,"ran the little nurse outside her room.
Her eyes tried rolling around, her head hurting like tiny pieces of glass pierced in her brain. She breathed in feeling as if she was like a new born baby breathing for the first time. As if it was her first time getting air into her lungs and letting it go afterwards.
The doctor came rushing in and without moving her head, she stared. The doctor together with the nurses worked around the beeping machines, removing the snorkel thingy from her mouth first. With what seemed to be a tiny torch, her eyes were examined one by one the doctor being impeccably happy at the results.
"Aah you seem to be in good shape, missy" the doctor smiled doodling with the Seth around his neck.
As soon as she sat up. One question rang through her head, where was she? Who were they?
"How-how did I get here?" she asked, confusion rippling through her eyes.
The doctor and the nurse from earlier stared at each other in a quizzical manner.
"Do you remember what your name is?"
She wondered what sort of question that was. Of course she remembered what her name was. Her name was...her name was...and still nothing came to mind. Her mind was blank, not a single memory of anything, as if she had just been born.
"I don't remember who I am! I can't remember! I can't remember my name!" She shouted in confusion.
"Lily get her husband here,"the doctor told the nurse and she rushed out.

"Now, now Ruby. Calm down. Everything's fine, you had a mild concussion which lead to a temporary case of amnesia but everything is going to be fine"
"Ru...Ruby? Is that my name? My name is Ruby?"
She touched her aching head in confusion. Her name was Ruby? Why didn't it ring a bell in her head? She surely didn't feel like a ruby. Everything became too hard to proceed. Amnesia? Her husband? Hospital?
It was like waking up and being told you would have to restart your life again from scratch which was the exact thing that was happening.
Lily barged in and behind him her husband entered.
"Doc her husband is here"
And she looked behind the nurse to stare at her husband. A tall strikingly gorgeous man stood there, his blue orbs staring at her like she was fragile porcelain, his scruffy silky brown hair was messed up like he had been running his fingers through it all night, somehow she was tongue tied knowing that the man standing in the room was her husband.
But how was it she won the lottery? She herself felt like a nerd? Like a woman who was single, living in a shabby apartment with one fat Cheshire cat reading all books all day.
"You are finally awake,"he spoke out and she said guiltily,
"Yes?"
"I'll leave you two to be for the moment,"the doctor said with nurse Lily following closely behind.
"I'm sorry I don't...I don't remember you"
Though she certainly wished she did. She really wished she was in a crazy dream and she would wake up any moment.
"It's okay. I'm just glad you are alive"
Alive? What really happened to her?
"Alive? W-what happened?"
She saw his face turn into a serious one, the shock on his face was visible no matter how he tried to hide it. Was the accident that bad?

"You wanted to surprise me at work but on the way, the ..."
She could hear the devastation in his voice.
"The accident happened" she finished the statement for him.
"I-I thought I was going to lose you. You lost a lot of blood, the doctors said they could do what they possibly would but the chances of you surviving were slim. If you died, I wouldn't have forgiven myself Ruby"
And what was she to say to that other than to thank God that she had been given a second chance to a loving husband.
"It was not your fault. I might not remember much but the accident was probably my fault. I might have been clumsy or speaking on my phone while driving. It is not your fault..."
Remembering his name too came as a difficulty.
"Marcus. It's Marcus"
Another name that didn't ring a bell.
"Are you alone? Where's my family?"
"You don't really remember do you? You were an only child, Ruby. Your dad died four years ago and your mom recently passed away an year ago"
And her high spirits ended up being crushed. So the only family she had was Marcus?
"Oooh. In that case, can you please stay? I can't remember if I liked being alone or with company but I really need someone I know with me. To walk me through everything"
And with a grin, Marcus replied
"I'll always be here for you, Ruby. Now and forever like how it's meant to be"

8 157The Discarded
The Umbrae Lunae existed before man, beautiful abominations birthed in the nightmares of mad gods. They wait for humanity to misstep, for the angels to look away. For the moment when they can cloak the world in moon shadows once again. But even horrors have children. Even nightmares must feed. One child, unlike the others, finds his way to a school for young abominations. Will he be a sheep cast before the wolves, or a terror that wears the skin of wool to entice the wolf close? The flesh of his body was his only coin, strips cut to pay debts that never ended. Everyone has scars, stories in a life led, lessons learned, and licks taken. Luminous bodies touched by darkness. There are a cursed few that are the opposite, black shadows consumed by scars, twisted minds devoured by diseased hungers, bodies tortured misshapen works of gouged flesh, silver lines of blade thin cuts, ragged tears of teeth and glass. For them, the scars are marks of homecoming, the mangled wasteland the only place they feel at peace. Hell is a place. It's made of concrete, steel and glass. It's the sounds of starving kids crying themselves to sleep, huddling into small balls as creepers come and take their due of innocence and tender meat. It's eating rotten food and carrying ticks in your hair. It’s having no one and nothing while surrounded by everything. It's the life of a street kid. What abomination was birthed in the corrupt womb of man’s cast-off shit? Pretty people don't know the power of ugly. They can't see the strength in a broken soul or the power in a calloused heart. Those secrets are for the discarded alone. Only the broken understand the grace of darkness. The blessed folds that hide scars and tears, the protection of its concealing umbra. 8 66A Fate Shaped by Magick
This fiction was (and is) published on fanfiction dot net under the same title; though as I slowly transfer it to here, I am editing and smoothing it. This story takes place in the Elder Scrolls (TES) Universe mostly ending up in Morrowind. This is a slice of life meant to answer the questions of how (in the TES universe) do mages study and learn, and exploring some of the in-game differences between TES 2 and 3. This book has minimal spoilers for the Morrowind main quest and does not fully explore it. If you think that giant insects would make cool pets - if you like the idea of exploring magic NOT intended simply as killing something better, faster or more gore-ridden, then come on in and enjoy.
8 93Heroine? Yeah, no.
ISEKAI TITLE - It seems I've been reincarnated as a heroine in another world. Yeah, how about no? IMPORTANT NOTES - While the story is not allergic to wholesome moments, I would like you to understand that this is the story of a villain, not an anti-hero protagonist. Depression, psychopathy, dark themes, uncensored violence, horriffic suggestive themes; these are all a mainstay of the series. I would strongly advise anyone who wants to experience "Dr. Feelgood" to go look elsewhere. Summary - Kamiyama Nori is many things; a bully, a delinquent, gamer and fanatic of all things martial. What she is not however, is anyone's 'hero', and she will do everything she can to rid herself of that title, even if it means the deaths of many, many other people. Her jaded, manipulative and opportunistic nature, combined with a 'noble', divine birthright is bound to quake the hearts of any whom would dare to stand in her way, good and evil alike.
