《A beautiful mistake》45

They sure knew how to throw a wedding. The church decor looked splendid even the flowers themselves looked imported. Everyone around looked posh one would think that the Queen of England was going to attend the wedding itself.

Best of all, it excited him that every penny they had spent on this had gone to waste. He sat at the furthest end of the church easily blending in with the whole crowd. Marcus had sat there for hours not really doing anything but stare at the two brothers.

Kevin looked like he would collapse right there right then everytime the priest asked him if the bride was coming anytime soon. Funny thing was he knew what would happen. He had planned and played this whole scenario in his head over and over again. Knowing his sister in law, she would either not show up but run to the police with the sufficient evidence he had provided her with or she'd show up at the wedding completely heart broken and humiliate her husband to be.

He couldn't wait to see what would unfold. It truly would be a sight to behold. Yet amidst this all fiasco he had planned out, some part of him thought about Mikaella. He sent the package knowing that Mikaella would be there with Chloe and she would see everything in it. How she must have been devastated knowing that the guy she loved and put high on a pedestal was nothing short of cold and selfish.

"Excuse me. Pardon me," a rather familiar sound spoke out, walking casually to where Marcus sat. Marcus on the other hand, stared at him a little alarmed. The last time he had seen the kid was what? Eight or seven years ago? He had grown with the years that passed, the beard, the broad shoulders, he even wore a tuxedo something that he couldn't do at his and Ruby's wedding.

He sat with a little thud,"I suppose you couldn't miss this too. Chloe is family after all"

"Aah what would I know about family, Leo. Your sister would have wanted me to be here so am here,"he spoke casually.

Leonardo Grayson, leaned his back on the smooth wood grinning. Something about that grin didn't feel right to Marcus. Why would he come to Chloe's wedding when not even his parents knew where he was for all those years after Ruby's death? He never liked weddings, a statement he had repeated very often at Marcus' wedding.

"Remember the last time we spoke, Marc?"

The last time they spoke. He remembered the last time they spoke was at Ruby's funeral when the kid suggested they murder Luis Miguel for what he did. Ofcourse he paid no heed to him because they were all grieving and grief messed up a person's brain in so many ways.

"Marcus! Marcus, it's Ruby! She had an accident. Marc, she...she's dying!"Leo had called him that fateful night.

He was the one that found her. He was the one covered with Ruby's blood that night when he got to the hospital and that kind of trauma wasn't good for a nineteen year old.

"We spoke alot at her funeral,"Marcus simply stated staring ahead.

"I asked you to help me avenge her but Marcus works alone, doesn't he? I suppose that's why you are here. To watch your master plan come into action. Again what's the fun in that? Sure my sister's heart will be broken but she doesn't have it in her to hurt the love of her life"

He was surprised no doubt. Questions ran through his head, as to how Leo knew about his plans. As to why he hadn't tried to stop him but he had the same look in his eyes. The same look Marcus had when Luis Miguel confessed he had lied in court and that he wasn't the one behind the wheel. It was the look of vengeance.

"And where are you getting at kid? If you know everything, if you know my plans then why are you telling me this?Tell your sister if you want to, I couldn't care less"

"Aah my sister had it coming. She was always clueless when it came to guys. So I guess your plan is working huh? You know if you really want to hit them hard, take someone away from them like they did to us. Now we can't kill Chloe now can we?" He chuckled vilely as if the dry humor was supposed to mean something,"my parents would hate me for that but what about his wife"

He pointed his index finger at Roman who was standing alongside a distraught Kevin. It was from that simple remark that Marcus' heart palpitated.

"What did you do?" Marcus growled indiscreetly.

Standing up and tightening the button on his loose coat, he simply stated,

"What they did to my sister. Left her to bleed to death," and he was out of the church.

His words registered in Marcus mind. Mikaella was in danger or even worse he didn't want to say it. He didn't want to believe it. Leo was probably bluffing right? There was no way Ruby's brother would harm a fly let alone a human being. He was a kid! A scruffy kid! A good kid! But how hadn't it been many years since they talked? Leonardo must have changed just like he had or even worse.

A cold sweat ran down his back. Suddenly he was just as worried as the groom and his family. Had something really happened to Mikaella? Had Leo really done what he said or was it metaphorical? Marcus couldn't risk it which is why he stood up uneasily left the church in a frenzy bumping into each and every guest waiting outside for the bride.

"Colt! Colt, I need you to get me Ms Cervantes location. Also any news of any accident reported this morning or even right now!"

"Yes sir!" Colt answered.

If something happened to her he couldn't forgiven himself.

God I pray she's safe. Marcus prayed running his fingers through his hair uneasily.

His phone dinged, and a message appeared in his screen.

An address from an unknown number and along with it a message,

Let's see how it feels to have someone's blood on your hands. My sister died because of you, she too will die because of you. Nothing hits hard like loosing someone you love. You love her, don't you?

He didn't have to reread the message twice. It was clear Leo sent the message and maybe he was right, if he hadn't sent that package, Mikaella wouldn't have... Mikaella wouldn't have been where she was now.

Injured? Or worse...dead!

Ten minutes later he was on the road, driving like a mad man and when he arrived there, the image wasn't quite appealing.

Mick's car had bumped into a tree, and the bonnet released smoke. He ran to where Mick was. And there she was, her head lay on the steering wheel blood oozing from her head.

"No! No. Don't... don't do this! Mick!"

It was like deja vu all over again. It was too late or was it?
