《A beautiful mistake》41

I simply fell in love with Marcus Pierce's POV so...with that said here's a chapter for the villainy deputy.
********
She had called him first thing her son went missing and for the past hours watching Mikaella break down at his place of work broke his heart piece by piece.
And when she hugged him. Hugged him as if she was dying and only he would save her, damn his heart beat. His heart beat so loudly that he was afraid everyone including his juniors would hear him. Had he kidnapped her son then, would she have broken into despair like she did now? I mean the kid was in his plans and was bound to get hurt by him soon enough.
But had he stood too low? Too low to make the woman he had feelings for suffer? Would Ruby have wanted this? The life he was living. A life full of emptiness, full of rage, driven by vengeance? Regardless of whatever his heart wanted he could never have her. Mikaella was not Ruby. Mikaella was taken, that too by his wife's murderers.
"You sick bastard!"
And Mikaella's husband showed up, angrier than ever.
His eyes beamed rage, like tiny bullets heavily being directed at where Marcus stood with Mikaella.
Of course he found out. It was only a matter of time
Marcus mentally reasoned, aware of the fact that Roman knew who he really was. Knew that he was Ruby's husband. The woman whose murder he had covered up. But did Kevin know too? Ofcourse he didn't. Marcus figured that if Kevin Cervantes knew who he was, he would have reacted the same way his brother was doing at the moment.
Blamed him for their misfortunes.
"You did this! My son! Hurt me, leave my son out of it"
He cried and Marcus so badly held back what he felt on the inside for Mikaella. My son. His brother, Kevin Cervantes, had taken his entire life away from him. Both brothers had taken away two precious people in his life in a spur of night and yet here they were, all crying over one kid. A kid whose chances of being alive were high while his kid? His kid never got to see the light of day so think of what you will but right now he wished he was God.

That he would somehow manipulate fate and Roman's son would wound being dead in some ditch. Better yet he wished he had done the ill thing that Roman was blaming him off. That he had actually been two steps ahead and kidnapped the brat and actually killed him!
"Calm down, bro. We are all pissed by the situation and blaming innocent people isn't going to solve anything" and the other bastard intervened.
God knows, he had restrained himself. He had endured it all, seeing all his enemies in one room had taken an ounce of endurance for him not to lose it. Mikaella in her distraught and fed up state lashed out on her husband and the show was quite good. The way she scolded him, how her strength kept her together, how she stood her ground despite how her in laws looked at her.
She was a tough cookie. One that had managed to remind him of Ruby over and over again. It was as if... somehow Ruby had come back from the dead and incarnated to Mikaella.
Colt's name appeared on his screen as soon as his phone rang.
"Colt. Found anything?"
"Thanks. Okay"
Phil Radoll. He certainly wasn't a guy he knew of and the moment both Mikaella and her husband claimed to know him. Claimed to have had a misunderstanding in the past, Marcus wasn't in the least bit surprised. The Cervantes family probably had tons of enemies waiting to enact their revenge him included.
"We've got the house surrounded, Sir. Two men on the back, three on the side and two on the front. The neighbors say he lives alone but we can't be sure"
"Fine don't engage, I'm on my way,"I hung up taking a corner against the narrow lane.
"What did he say?" Mikaella poked his shoulder from the back seat and with a groan he said,
"The same thing, Mikaella. They have Phil's house surrounded"
As awkward as it was both men looked ahead. Roman, Kevin and Mikaella were in his car. The irony was, that he was on his way to save his enemies' son while his enemy had left his wife to bleed on the road.

Finally arriving at the destination, he opened his car tightening his bullet proof chest.
"I advise you to stay here,"he said not quite looking at anyone in particular,"I wouldn't want any civilian to be harmed"
And with that he ran to where Colt stood, by the terrace of the shabby house.
"You've got all exits sealed? The backdoor? The basement doors?"
"Yes sir"
"Then let's do this!" Marcus shouted, Colt standing behind him alongside other two police officers.
"Phill Radoll! LAPD!" He knocked and having heard nothing from the other end, Marcus knocked down the door.
"Don't move any further or the kid and I die!" A shaking Phil Radoll stood inches away from the door.
The kid lay unconsciously on the floor, wet with a mad Phil Radoll towering over him with a lighter. The smell of petrol reeked all over the house and judging from the lighter, the man wanted to torch himself and the kid alive.
It was the perfect moment. A perfect moment had presented itself. He had the opportunity to kill Roman's kid like they did his. One bullet on Phil's wrist, a clean shot and the lighter would fall on the kid burning him to smithereens in an instant. But then, an image of Ruby appeared in his head,
What if it's a boy, love? We could call him Ash, Kai or something sweeter. I simply can't wait. I want him to feel our love, to see my bundle of joy safe in my arms...
And a single tear escaped his eye while his gun stood pointed at Phil. Ruby loved children and hurting an innocent child just to heal his wounds would be like tainting her memory.
With a gulp, he pleaded,"Don't do it, Phil. The kid isn't to blame for whatever his parents did to you. Doing that won't heal any wounds you have, it won't take the suffering and the hurt. Step away from the child, Phil. See my men will drop their-"
"Phil!" A feminine voice came from behind.
He rolled his eyes, typical Mikaella, stubborn as hell!
"Mick!" Phil's eyes roamed behind Marcus and his men.
"D-don't. Please don't. Don't do this. Why?Why do this?"
Phil laughed his blood shot eyes more red than ever.
"I loved you, Mikaella! I lived for you. Y-you two were my family! But then he showed up and just like that you married him. You cut me off from your life. Five years,Mick! I took care of both of you for five years all for what?"
"Then take me! Take me, damn it! I'll die with you!"
Mikaella shouted walking closer to where Marcus stood. Roman held her wrist unable to watch his wife give her life up.
"No. We don't need you. Seth doesn't need you! We'll be happy together,"Phil laughed loosening the cork of the lighter.
"No. No. No... Please.he's he's just a kid. Please. Don't do it"
And while Mikaella distracted a mentally insane Phil, three cops slowly came up behind using the back door.
Marcus gave them the signal and before Phil could drop the lighter, one officer wrapped his hand around his neck from behind tackling him down while the other officer held Phil's wrist yanking the lighter from his hand.
Mikaella ran to her son, kneeling down to the floor and cupping his cheeks. Seth was breathing and apart from his clothes being drenched in alcohol, he had a fever. Roman went to where they stood and like a man he scooped his son from the ground assuring Mikaella that the kid would be fine.
"Thanks for your help, man,"Kevin patted Marcus shoulder as soon as the ordeal was over.
But mentally Marcus reasoned,
Don't thank me yet. I still have your wedding to wreck.
He had spared the kid but that didn't mean that the Cervantes brothers were out of the hook yet.
