《A beautiful mistake》12

Roman Cervantes
He was gonna kill him. Kill him for sure! Kev did this, he drugged her!
"No... no. Don't look at me like that. Last time...last time you did that we ended up making a baby"
He caught her hands in mid air before her fingers trailed on his face again. Carrying her to their room was quite tiresome. Marga had already tucked Seth in bed, now back to his drunk wife who couldn't keep her hands to herself.
"Mr Cervantes, are you scared of your own wife?" She once more played with his hair as he removed the heels from her feet laying her on the bed.
He sighed and covered her, "Sleep"
Was all he got to say before he shut the lights including the little light that flickered on the night stand.
"On one condition. You sleep next to me...I'm scared of the dark"
He grinned and slowly joined her in bed. Turning his face to the other side he looked at his phone's screen. Messages from Debra Cervantes on whether Mick was doing fine and whether she had sobered up.
"Can I ask you something?" She tapped his back then getting no response, she leaned her chin on his shoulder.
"If I do, will you sleep?"
"Was I your first?"
Why would she ask that? He thought and searched within his brain on why he didn't want to crush her heart by telling her the truth.
"No"
"Oooh well you were my first. You know you were the first person I slept with. The first person in my vajayjay, the first person to shag with, the first..."
"Enough, I get it. Now back to sleep"
Honestly that holy root was actually working, if Kevin had actually used it on the right person he would definitely get all the answers he wanted. Credits to the voodoo woman!

"Okay" he heard her sigh but he dared not look on the other side of the bed. She was a vulnerability to him, his weak spot, when she wasn't close to him he got uneasy like someone would snatch her away from him. And now sleeping next to her for the last couple of days had evoked so many emotions, he wanted to treat her like his, show her things that no man could. Problem was, a sober Mikaella Sandoval was difficult to talk to and hard to please.
He already gave her freedom back to her little work but she still acted coldly.
"I'm scared you know. Being alone almost half your life ain't easy, see when I left everything behind which was your fault for getting me pregnant but no one is pointing fingers; I thought that I wouldn't think about them but I miss them. I miss Gus, do you miss anyone?"
"No, now get back to sleep or at least pretend to. It's already midnight"
"I'm not tired. I still want something. I want you"
He had fought the urge but at this point it didn't matter. He turned to face her and bam!
~•~
Tying the laces to his black shoes and making sure his cuff links were intact, a smile formed on his lips as he stared at the woman in bed who was just waking up.
"Auch why does my head hurt so bad. Wait a minute, where are my clothes? Who changed my clothes?" She freaked out.
"I did" he calmly assured her.
"What? " Her face turned red, he couldn't tell whether she was blushing or angry at the time.
"Relax, men don't look at naked women without their permission now I'm not saying I didn't look but rest assured I didn't touch you" he avoided her eyes then continued "inappropriately"

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" She growled her fingers running through her hair.
Even without makeup she's beautiful than ever
He thought.
She tried remembering what happened last night but blurred images kept on popping up. He had already left for work but she still could feel his touch on her skin.
I want you.
Those were the first words she remembered from yesterday.
"No I did not just say that to him, did I? Mick you are such a fool. What did you do?" She slapped her forehead.
She looked at her PJs, a blue gown that barely reached her knees. She didn't want to remember how he had gotten her to wear this much less remove her clothes in the first place.
Her mind was in chaos until Seth barged in her room.
"Mommy there are some people downstairs. They're looking at me funny"
"Aren't you supposed to be in school? Perhaps I think they are your dad's colleagues" She assured her son pushing the covers away and sitting by the edge of the bed admiring the beams of light that travelled across the room.
"Nope. Daddy greeted and welcomed them. He told them to wait for you" Seth relentlessly continued.
"Huh? I wonder who they could be" Getting into her slippers, Seth led her downstairs and as if on cue her eyes interlocked with those of the visitors.
It can't be them! Her eyes landed on the lanky dark haired guy then to the woman standing inches in front of him, the woman who was her confidant since she was a kid then to the guy whose arms were around her mother, her father.
"Mick!" Gus was the first to break the silence.
Seth nudged her mother's arm, " Does this mean I'm not going to school anymore?"
Her mother came nearer to where she stood. Sudden emotions ran through her body, fear and guilt. They didn't deserve me cutting them off my life, she argued. Her mom's eyes were different, her face not as young as it used to but actually older. She had aged. Not the same person that would hog the spotlight in any party. She still had the same taste in clothes, the same floral dresses she liked.
"Mom...I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...I was stupid and scared. I shouldn't have run away... at least not without telling you..." Before she finished her words her mother had already hugged her.
"It's alright, Mikaella. We found you and that's all that matters right now"

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The system isn't a game. It's the rules for the universal operating system that all things work inside. Note: You do not need to read the first book in the series to read this book.
