《Voices - Liam Dunbar》Chapter 4 - Nightmares

"I got him," Adela said as she walked through Scott's front door, Stiles in toe.

"What did you tell your dad?" Scott asked the lanky, flannel clad boy.

They walked quickly while talking. "Like I said to Del, I told my dad everything I could."

"But you didn't tell him about Liam?" The true alpha was obviously on edge. His hands were shaking and Adela felt the angst wafting off of him.

"You barely told me about Liam," Stiles snapped. "What did you do with him anyway?"

"He's upstairs," Scott said after a suspicious pause.

Adela scoffed. "And he hasn't tried to run?"

"No..."

The huntress didn't buy it. "Then what exactly is he doing?"

They got to the stairs and Scott turned around, stalling. "Uh... lying down."

•*•*•*•

"You put him in your bathtub?!" Adela yelled. "Really?"

Scott looked guiltily at the boy who had been duck taped so he couldn't get away. "I'm taking the tape off," she stated, moving to rip the grey tape off Liam's mouth.

"No!" Scott grabbed the girl by her waist, pulling her out of the bathroom while Stiles shut the shower curtain.

Once out of the bathroom the three sat down. Scott and Stiles sat on the bed and Adela plopped on the floor. "You're making us look like psycho killers," she stated, in a matter of fact tone. Scott looked down, resembling a whipped puppy.

Stiles groaned. "So you bit him." Scott nodded. "And you kidnapped him." Another nod. "And you brought him here."

"I panicked."

Stiles shook his head. "This isn't going to end with us burying the pieces of his body out in the desert, is it?"

Liam suddenly started struggling more and tried to yell louder. Adela's heart hurt.

"You two are idiots. I'll try to calm him down, just... figure something out," and with that, she walked to the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

"Liam? It's me," realizing that he might not know her voice, she clarified. "Adela Argent."

The struggling stopped which she guessed was a good sign. Drawing back the shower curtain she looked into his blue eyes. They were filled with fear and... something else.

"We won't hurt you, I won't let them hurt you," the dark haired girl said. Her tone spoke of honesty and loyalty. Liam believed her.

Now Adela could defiantly detect something in his eyes other than fear. Was it... excitement? No. That would be ridiculous. What would even be excited about anyway? She was just Adela, nothing special. She abruptly walked out of the small room, not wanting to think about Liam's complex feelings anymore.

They had taped him to a chair. The three teens stood in front of an angry looking Liam. His eyes were hooded and he regarded them all with contempt... well, all except for Adela.

"Liam, we're going to take the tape off your mouth," Stiles --who had thought of this new plan-- said. "If you scream, it goes right back on. If you talk quietly, it stays off. Got it?"

The boy nodded his head. "I really don't think this is necessary," Adela said, looking pointedly at Stiles.

"He needs to understand how dire the situation is. Okay," Stiles said, leaning over and ripping the tape off of Liam's mouth. The boy grunted in pain but didn't scream.

"Okay, Liam, now you've seen a lot of confusing things tonight. And more confusing things are going to happen because of the confusing things that happened tonight. Do you understand?"

Adela roles her eyes as Liam shook his head. "Not really," he answered, truthfully.

Stiles pointed at Liam, looking unsure of how to proceed. "Good, that's good."

"I don't understand either," Scott blurted out.

Stiles gestured towards Scott. "Maybe you should tell him."

"Tell me what?" The younger boy demanded, looking from Scott to Stiles.

"Liam," Scott said, stepping forward. "What happened to you, what I did to you, which I had to do in order to save you, it's gonna change you."

"Unless it kills you," added Stiles. Adela whacked him in the arm, hard. "Hey!" He whined. She gave the lanky boy a look. "Shouldn't have said that," he amended.

"What?" Liam choked out. He looked down, partially hiding his face from view.

"Uh... is he? Is he crying?" Stiles gestured towards Liam again, asking no one in particular.

Scott dropped to his knees in front of Liam. "Liam, it's okay. You're going to be all right. You're not going to die."

"Probably not," Stiles chimed in, bending down as well.

"Stop it," Scott told him.

"Okay, possibly not."

"Stiles get out," Adela snapped.

"But--" he started to sputter but she cut him off.

Grabbing one of her many throwing knives, she pointed it at Stiles. "Get. Out." She said with even more force. He was out the door a second later.

"Help me untie him," Scott said, and they both reached for Liam's bindings.

"Liam are you okay?" Scott asked after the tape was off.

"Yeah we're sorry about that!" Stiles called from right outside the door.

Adela got the feeling this wasn't about to go smoothly. Liam slowly turned his back towards the three other teens. In one quick movement, he picked up the chair he had been involuntarily sitting in and smashed it over Scott's head. Stiles, who had walked in right behind Scott, also got knocked down by the chair's force.

Stiles started to stand up. "Liam, what the hell is your problem--" instead of letting him finish, the blue eyed boy delivered one very powerful punch to Stiles' face. With one look at Adela, who was still holding her knife, he edged towards Scott's bedroom door. Adela nodded at the open door and Liam ran.

Scott and Stiles had popped up seconds later. "Adela!?" Stiles whined, while Scott looked confused.

"Scott kidnapped him, what did you to expect?"

The boys stumbled to the door, Adela close behind. "Get him!" Stiles yelled upon seeing Liam still at the top of the stairs. "That's not a very good--" Adela started to say, but they bolted for him anyway.

Tackling the freshman, all three boys fell down the stairs, landing in a jumbled heap. "Plan." Adela finished, staring down at them. Scott and Stiles scrambled to grab Liam, but ended up grabbing each other. Liam, on the other hand, was already out the door.

Scott gazed out his open front door. "Your plans suck, too," he snapped at Stiles.

Since the gang usually spent full moons at Lydia's lake house, that was where the six were planning on going. Somehow they had to get Liam there so he didn't maul anyone.

Adela had woken up late and Stiles was already gone. So instead of riding in a broken down blue jeep, she rode to school in a broken down yellow school bus. Adela didn't have a lot of friends in her grade --she typically just hung out with the pack-- but she did know Mason. He and his friends, Garett --the annoying blond-- and Violet, who Adela had never really liked, also rode her bus.

"I am not watching another movie on a Friday night," Garett declared with a condescending laugh. Violet scoffed. Garett continued. "Mason, there's gotta be something going on."

"You remember we're freshman, right? We just got off a school bus. We're not exactly going to be hitting the clubs till 4 AM," Mason reasoned. He gave Adela a look and rolled his eye jokingly. "Unless you're Adela, who was just clubbing in Mexico with all of her junior friends."

"Ugh, okay. Movie at your place. Nine o'clock," Violet said, glaring at Adela when Mason looked away.

"I, uh, have plans. You guys have fun though," Adela told them. Garett and Violet said goodbye, walking hand in hand.

"She hates me," Adela stated the fact.

"She doesn't hate you. She's jealous but she doesn't hate you," Mason told her. She missed her old friend. The two hadn't talked much since Peter showed up the first time.

Adela turned around to see Liam running over. "I have to go!" She blurted out, speed walking away. She stopped behind a pillar, still within earshot. Some might call it eavesdropping but she preferred to think of it as helping.

"Hey why weren't you on the bus?" Mason asked.

"I ran. Why were you talking to Adela." The girl flinched at Liam's demanding tone.

"You ran three miles to school?" Mason asked, ignoring Liam's question.

"Yes, was that Adela?"

Mason paused before continuing. "Yeah, she rode the bus today. We were just talking. We haven't much since eighth grade. I miss her."

"If you see her again, tell her I'm looking for her," Liam told Mason.

"She, like, bolted when she saw you walking up. Is something going on? I mean I know you like her but is there more?" Mason asked.

Adela's heart started beating faster and faster. Hearing Mason say that was giving her a weird, excited feeling. Much like the look in Liam's eyes the night before, she didn't know what to make of it.

"No, she barely talks to me. Just tell her I'm looking for her," Liam said in a tone full of finality.

"Okay, so Garett, Violet, and I were planning on..." Adela tuned Mason out as she walked away. Hoping the new werewolf hadn't heard her heart beating, she headed to her locker.

She had to find Lydia.

•*•*•*•

"I'm not sharing my basement," Malia deadpanned. Scott, Kira, Stiles, Malia, Lydia, and Adela were between some parked busses, discussing their game plan.

"Actually, it's my basement. And my mom noticed how your tore it up last time," Lydia sassed. Adela sighed.

Stiles put a protective arm around the werecoyote. "Alright, she's still learning."

"But we're gonna use the boathouse for Liam. It's got support beams. We can chain him to one of them," Scott said.

"But how do we get him out to the lake house if he doesn't trust us?" Kira asked. The girl furrowed her brow.

"I say if it keeps him from murdering someone we just chloroform the little bastard and throw him in the lake," Stiles suggested, holding up his hands in an I'm-chloroforming-someone gesture.

"I'm in," Malia said, agreeing with Stile wholeheartedly.

"We're not killing or kidnapping him," Scott reprimanded.

"Then let's be smarter. We tell him there's a party and invite him," Lydia said.

Stiles scoffed. "So, you're going to ask out a freshman?"

"I'm done with teenage boys," the redhead snapped. Adela looked down, well aware of what was coming next. "But, our resident freshman is not." Everyone's eyes turned to Adela.

"I'm not doing that," she told them.

"Del, it won't be hard. Your a knock out, and you're already all dolled up," Lydia said. Adela sighed, knowing that she'd lost this battle.

"Fine, I'll do it," the green eyed girl began to walk away. Turning back towards her friends she added, "But you guys owe me!"

•*•*•*•

It wasn't that she didn't want to ask Liam out, Adela just didn't want to trick him in the first place. After her first class, which was upstairs, she headed down to the first floor. Liam had class with Mason so she knew where it was. Just as the two exited their classroom, Adela came walking down the stairs.

She had to admit, she did look good. Her long brown hair fell in perfect waves down her back. Her green eyes sparkled and the dark red lipstick she had on accentuated her creamy skin. She wore a tight black t-shirt dress with a light brown oversized cardigan. She had on a pair of black booties on, paired with ivory lace rimmed socks. Her long, gold pendant hung from her neck and five gold bangles jingled on her right wrist.

Liam stopped dead in his tracks, staring. She walked right up to him, greeting Mason but wanting to get the invite over with. After Mason walked off, saying something about math, Adela took a moment to look at Liam. His blue t-shirt brought out his eyes and his light wash jeans fit well. His hair was mussed in a way that looked tousled and very attractive.

Snapping out of her trance, Adela started to speak. Liam was still staring at Adela in a daze. "So, Liam, you want to go to a party tonight?"

•*•*•*•

Kira was driving with Adela in the front seat and Liam in the back. Some sort of techno music was quietly playing from the stereo. The brown eyed girl hadn't stopped talking the whole ride. Adela could tell Kira was nervous, she just hoped Liam couldn't.

One look back at the beta told her he had other things on him mind. He was starring at the stereo and looked confused. Adela figured his super human hearing had probably kicked in.

"It's Lydia Martin's lake house. Actually it's her grandmothers lake house but she's dead so it's okay," Kira continued rambling and Adela mentally kicked the kitsune in the shin.

"Well it's not okay that's she's dead," she added, glancing at Liam. He was twitching his head and he looked pained.

"Could you turn the music down?" He snapped quietly. Adela barely heard him and she guessed Kira didn't hear him at all.

"Do you want me to turn the music up?" She asked. Liam's confused expression showed itself again and Kira turned the music up slightly.

Liam's phone vibrated, causing him to jump. Adela watched from the rearview mirror as he read the text, then looked up. The huntress quickly averted her eyes.

"Who's coming to this party?" He asked them.

"Oh, uh..." Kira said. She laughed nervously and continued. "Everyone."

•*•*•*•

When the three pulled up to the lake house, Kira and Adela jumped out with Liam close behind. Kira started walking quickly, leading Liam towards the house. Adela walked behind him.

"Where is everyone?" He asked with a little to much attitude for Adela's liking.

"Well someone's got to be the first one to the party. Everyone can arrive in sync," she said, rolling her eyes.

Kira coughed warningly at Adela and the green eyed girl mentally pushed away her annoyance.

"Common, we better go," she said, linking her arm with Liam's. The boy stumbled after her and for the third time that night he looked confused. When the three walked in, Scott, Lydia, Malia, and Stiles were standing in a line.

Liam tensed, turning to run out the door just as Kira shut it.

"Sorry," she said.

He looked at Adela who offered and apologetic shrug. Turning back to the four teens in a line, he spoke.

"What the hell is this?"

"Think of it like an intervention. You have a problem, Liam." Stiles was the first to speak, and to say something stupid. Figures.

Scott stepped forward. He looked determined to save Liam. Determined to keep him safe. And of course, he was. "We're the only ones that can help."

•*•*•*•

Liam scoffed in disbelief.

"Werewolf," he pointed at Scott, who nodded. "Werecyote," he looked at Malia, who mirrored Scott's nod. "Banshee," he turned to Lydia, who pointed at him as if to say 'right again'. "Fox," he pointed at Kira.

"Kitsune. But fox works," she said.

The time that Adela had been dreading finally came. Liam turned towards her and his face softened. "Hunter?"

"That's me," Adela side, twirling her long hair. "We only kill those who kill the innocent though. We're warriors," she added, thinking of Allison. Their very own warrior. Fallen warrior to be exact.

She looked up at Liam. His blue eyes were still on her. As if realizing that he'd been starring for to long, he looked away.

"What're you?" He asked Stiles, his bad attitude showing itself again.

"Uh, for a little while I was possessed by an evil spirit. It was very evil."

Liam crossed his arms over his broad chest. "What're you now?" He challenged. His demeanor reminded Adela of Jackson and she was briefly sent down memory lain. Stiles' voice snapped her out of her revelry.

"Better? Um..." Stiles trailed off. He glanced at Malia and then looked back at Liam.

"Those for me?" The new beta questioned, nodding towards the chains. Adela didn't know whose idea it had been to plop them right on the coffee table but she made a mental note to find and and yell at them. For some reason, she guessed that it was Stiles.

"No, they're for me," Malia half growled, showing off her neon blue eyes.

"How did you do that?" Liam question. Adela didn't have super hearing but she could tell his heart beat sped up.

"You'll learn," Scott assured him calmly. "But first, you need to get through the full moon."

"The moons already out."

"And you're starting to feel something, aren't you?" Scott asked.

"I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of psychotic nutjobs. You guys are out of your freaking minds. I don't know how you did that eye thing, and I don't care. I'm walking out the door right now and if any of you try to stop me, I swear to God I'm gonna..." Liam's yelling suddenly stopped and he began groaning and clutching his head. He fell to the floor, and besides feeling mildly insulted my his 'phycotic nutjobs' comment, Adela felt a little bad.

"What's wrong Liam?" Scott asked, reaching for the blue eyed boy. Adela couldn't help but notice a fatherly air to the gesture.

"You don't hear that?" Liam half screamed. Scott tilted his head to the side, listening.

Headlights suddenly shone through the window. Scott dropped down, face to face with Liam.

"Did you tell someone about this?" Lydia asked.

"My friend," Liam wheezed. "Mason."

"Shit."

"What is it Del?" Lydia said, still looking out the window.

"Mason knows everyone."

Kira walked to the window and peered out.

"You said it was a party!" Liam continued.

"And who did Mason invite?" Stiles asked.

Kira finally turned around, looking worried. "Everyone."

Liam's claws shot out and he started to drag them across the wood.

"The floors, get him off the floors!" Lydia screeched, shooting forward. Liam's head snapped up and he growled, stopping Lydia in her tracks.

Adela yanked two knives out of her belt. "We need to get him out of here!"

"Boat house! Now!" Scott ordered. Scott and Kira began dragging the now yellow eyed werewolf towards the back door.

"Stiles," Malia said, dropping to all fours.

"Yeah?"

Instead of answering, she roared. Her neon blue eyes flared and her fangs made her look more menacing.

"Okay, basement. Now, now, now," he said, lunging at the chains.

"What are we supposed to do with the hordes gathering outside the door?" Lydia demanded.

Stiles and Malia turned around. Stiles spoke up. "Lydia, who throws the best parties in Beacon Hills?"

"What?" She whined. "Me obviously."

"Okay then throw a party," and with that, Stiles and Malia were down the basement stairs.

"Ugh!" Lydia scoffed.

"It's okay, we can do this," Adela offered.

She turned around, stomping towards the front door and taking a deep breath. "Alright, let's do it then."

She flung open the door, looking non to happy.

Adela peered over her shoulder to see at least one hundred people gathered in from of the lake house.
