Chapter 6.
Cyn looked like a legitimate ass walking around Oakland with a suitcase it one hand and her bag in the other, she didn't bother going over to Travis' right away cause she didn't want Wendell and Debra trying no funny ass shit.
When Cyn got back to the block she saw Travis sitting in the little porch, when he saw her he immediately sat up as she approached him. You could've seen the way worry played on his face.
"Where the hell you been?" He ask as she hushed him.
"I went to drop off something, besides if I had to leave in order to make it look good." Cyn said stating the obvious.
"Anyway get inside."
Come to think of it no wonder Wendell tried that shit on her the other day, he was tryna' get his last touch. Cyn wasn't mad they had put her out, she wasn't mad one bit. She was just glad that any other pain that would be inflicted on her in the long run wont be because of them.
He walked inside and Cyn walked behind him and closed the door. He walked to his kitchen and Cyn followed behind.
"So what happened?" He asked her as he took out a pitcher of water.
"They put me out." Cyn rolled her eyes.
"Why?" She watched as he poured himself a glass of water and put it back in the refrigerator.
"Cause it's all over, the social money, I'm turning eighteen in a few and after that it all stops."
"That's light." He said.
"Sure is." She mumbled, he looked down and she could've seen the stress just dropping off of him.
"You alright?" She asked awkwardly.
"Shit just don't seem to work in our favor." He said and Cyn nodded seeing where he was going.
"I'll sleep on the couch." He said.
"No, you don't have to."
"It's okay. It's only a damn bed Cyn." He said as if it was nothing but Cyn felt guilty, she didn't feel comfortable taking over his house, she felt as if he was already doing enough.
"Nah you can sleep with me as long as you stay on your side..." She spoke.
"You too much." He said he chuckled as she smiled.
"But for real, you can. It don't feel right invading your space like that."
"It's whatever." He said reassuringly.
"Where's your mama?" She asked him remembering her condition.
"She in the room sleepin'."
"Anyways I'm tired." After walking to his room, Cyn rest all of her things in the corner, she kicked off her shoes and dove straight onto the bed and closed her eyes.

"Get your ass over now." She heard him say and she did so. He turned off the room light and Cyn felt the bed dip.
"Cyn?"
"Yea?"
"Where you gone go after tonight?" She shrugged.
"I don't know....." No words were exchanged, and she tried her hardest to not let this homeless shit bother her. She closed her eyes for a split second thinking of what her tomorrow held, she knew one thing for sure and it was that she couldn't stay here, she really didn't want Travis getting' involved in anything that was happening in her messed up life and she really didn't wanna be a burden on nobody.....
she had taken a bath at Travis' she went to work with her things and put them inside of the office, she made sure that Reena ain't seen nothing cause Cyn didn't want to give her any head ache, better yet to start asking questions.
The shop was dry today and only a few customers came in, Cyn only made a few sales but it was still enough for her so she could've gotten a bonus pay.
"Cyn I need those freezers cleaned out." She told Cyn.
"I'm not cleanin' them." She spoke with an attitude.
"Yes you are, they're filthy and by time as I'm done with the paper work you better be too."
Rollin' her eyes, Cyn went in the back room to get a wet cloth and some detergent, she got a little bucket of water and walked to the freezers. Cyn started cleaning and wiping them down, but they weren't as dirty and dusty as she thought they'd been considering they haven't been used in while. Cyn sighed rinsing out the cloth every now and then putting the differences aside. Cyn was kind of mellow due to the fact that she was cleanin' some freezers and not worried about the fact that she had no place to go.....
was over and Cyn went into the office only to meet Reena standing next to Cyn's suitcases.
"Care to explain?" Cyn sighed and walked over to her stuff.
"Ain't nothing to explain." She told her picking up her bag as Reena tried to stop her.
"All you had to say was you needed somewhere to be, I could've took you in y-"
"I'm stayin' with someone Reena." She flashed a look of disbelief.
"Who?"
"A friend-from school." Cyn lied.
"Are you sure?"
"Yea, I talked to her last night, she said her mama said that it was okay if I had stayed there for a while." She look like she wanted to say something but decided against it. Reena knew that something was up and she knew better than to believe Cyn's sob ass story. She also knew that the only friend Cyn ever brought around was Travis.

"Just be alright." Cyn nodded.
"I'm good." After she had left the conversation alone, she locked up the store and Cyn got her stuff and started to walk behind the shop, she hid there and waited until she was gone. When Cyn had heard her car drove off she came out and she sat down on one of the benches in the front of the shop.
Cyn started to pick her nails and she looked at the horizon watching it soon turn dark. 'I should've just went with her' were the only thoughts Cyn had at the moment. But then again she didn't want to feel like she's throwing her weight on anybody, Cyn still had courtesy and she refused to let any body get dragged into her mess.
She looked down at her nails and saw the chipped paint and continued to try and scrape em' off. She heard a car pull up but she figured they were going next door so she didn't bothered lookin' up.
Her nails were red, she always loved red, it meant a lot to me actually and she just loved the whole concept of it. She just envied it so much, after all who wouldn't? Red symbolized love-... something she would never be able to experience again.
She watched as a pair of white air force stood before her eyes on the concrete pavement as she sighed at the person's ignorance.
"Shops closed." She said with a slight attitude continuing to scrape her nails. That's another shit she hated 'bout black folks, everything is visible and everything you can get at stands before you, why push something that wasn't necessary.
"I was expecting for you to be more friendlier than that, considering I offered you a ride home." Her head snapped up at the deep, raspy voice, Rodney was standing before her looking as rich as ever he was flat out clean- almost too clean. He smelled good too and being the person she was, she'd probably be an addict to the scent.
"Why are you here?" He asked. She looked at her suitcase stating the obvious and she heard him smack his teeth.
"You weren't planning on sleeping out here now did you?" She bit my lip.
"Well I don't got no place to go so, yea." Cyn shrugged.
"What happened?"
"I don't wanna talk about it?" Cyn said a little ashamed.
"Sorry to hear that."
"Well if it's pity you came to give, thanks, but I don't need it."
"Why you so mean?" He asked annoyed.
"Are you done?" Cyn asked gettin' fed up. There wasn't shit he could do to make her feel any better so she didn't feel the need to be bothered by him.
"Your attitudes shit..." He spoke.
"You don't know shit..."
"I know alot, from your ass bein' put out and maybe a couple of fucka's done hurt you before so you turn the cold shoulder and put on this tough ass façade that anyone could see through. I know you got shit goin' on with only anger and hatred building up but you got to realize when you got folks out there who tryna' help..." He spoke, and so was he right, Cyn held up this guard as if everyone wanted to attack her, she felt as if everyone was against her; but how could you blame her? Cyn bit her lip trying to maintain her emotions.
"Come on." He said as he got her suitcase and her bag.
"Hey, where do you think your goin' with my shits?" Cyn said getting up running after him.
"I'm taking you to my place." She stopped in my tracks.
"What?" He opened the trunk of the jeep and put my things inside.
"You don't think I'm gonna leave you out here now." Cyn didn't know what to say or do.
"Why?" He sighed and walked to her.
"So we can talk there. Damn." He exclaimed but also misunderstood.
"No, I mean why are you doing this?" Cyn looked at him as he licked his full pink lips.
"Cause I can see what you dealing with and honestly what I'm seeing you don't got it easy. So it's either you accept my offer or stay here." He said.
"Are you aware that you don't know me and vice versa?" He shrugged.
"You gone sell me out?" He asked, and she shook her head 'no'.
"You gone steal from me?"
"No, and where are you going with this?"
"Is you gone kill me?"
"No." She stated simply.
"Okay then, you ain't here to endanger me in no type way and I'm not here to do the same so why should I care if I know you or not? You out here bout to sleep on a bench. In Oakland." He stated really educating her.
"So?" He urged.
Givin' it thought, she walked to the passenger side as he got on the drivers side.
Cyn looked over at him and he just started up the jeep and nothing but silence was said. She wondered why he was doing this if he's who she thought he was.
Cyn knew that she went wrong from the start where she misjudged him....
