"If a shark comes and get me, are you going to beat it up?" Kennedi asked for the backseat of the car as they were on the way to Ailani's house.
Matthias chuckled "No Mami, I'm let it get you so you can be raised by sharks," He said, laughing harder at her dramatically gasping.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THATTTT! That's not nice!"
"Mami why would I let a shark get you?" He chuckled, stopping at a red light then looked back to her as she was mugging him.
"I don't want to talk to you anymore. Maybe Lani will appreciate me more hm" She turned her head and crossed her little arm on her chest.
He shook his head face forward "Spell appreciated" He resorted and drove off when the light turned green.
"A-P-P-R-E-C-I-A-T-E-D. Appreciated, something you don't do daddy" She sassed back at him while he turned into Ailani neighborhood.
He chuckled "I do appreciate you Mami and daddy loves you soooo much"
"Like a lot a lot?" She asked.
"Soooo much, more than anyone in the whole wide world." He chuckled, pulling into Ailani's driveway. He shook his head at her bringing the bag out of the house.
"As you shouldddd" Kennedi nodded and he turned the car off "You not going to say it back?" He turned around to playfully mug her.
She giggled "I love you more than meme's chocolate cake!" She smiled.
He dramatically gasped and put his hand on his chest "That's a lot" He chuckled, opening the door and getting out. "I know right" She shook her head and got out once he let the seat up.
"Girl didn't I tell you I would pack up the car when I got here" He fussed, popping the trunk to his car. Tomorrow was their trip to Panama city beach and they decided it would be smart for them to come over tonight instead of him having to rush in the morning.
Lani frowned as Rayah came out of the house with a small bag and Kennedi ran up to Lani "Well hello to you too bubba" She rolled her eyes and then picked Kennedi up.
"I missed you munchkin! " She kissed all over her face while Rayah was coming towards Matthias. "I missed you too!" Kennedi rubbed their noses together making Lani laugh.
"Hi, Matt!" Rayah smiled, hugging his legs when he took Kennedi's suitcase out of the trunk. "Hey little bit, you look pretty" He kissed her forehead.
"Matt I have on a bonnet" She giggled, trying to help him with the small bag she was able to hold and pick up.
"Bonnet on or not you're still beautiful" He smiled. He thought it was important to tell all little black girls how beautiful they were.
"Your sound just, like me daddies" She giggled as they walked over to Ailani's car since that's the car they were taking tomorrow. Her car was bigger and had more space than his car especially since it's only the 4 of them.
"Your daddy is right," He said walking up to his girlfriend who was already smiling and rocking side to side. "Wassup beautiful" He chuckled before she wrapped her arms around his neck and pecked his lips repeatedly.
"I missed youuu" She smiled, he looked at her funny "Oh na' you miss me but when I tried to get y'all to spend a night last week—"
"Never mind, I don't miss you anymore. You can leave and leave my child here " She rolled her eyes, pushing his head away.

"Bipolar ass little girl" He chuckled, looking around to see if Rayah and Ken were around before he grabbed her by the neck, slowly kissing her. "Mm," She lowly moaned when he started grabbing her ass through the basketball shorts she had on.
"I missed you too mama" He pecked her lips when he pulled away.
"You tryna have a lil seggssss" She childishly grinned, dancing a lil.
He laughed loudly at her "Move so I can pack this car up" He slapped her ass causing her to squeal a little as she walked to the house door.

"I suggest y'all go get ready for bed before we leave y'all here tomorrow morning" Lani sarcastically smiled at Kennedi and Sarayah who were sitting at the island watching pack-up turkey subs for the road.
"But all my stuff is packed in the car," Ken said, getting down from the stool.
"I just brought you some clothes and you left clothes over here so pick something out of there to wear for the morning munchkin," Lani told her while handing a sandwich bag to Matthias.
"Are they in my drawer?" She asked as Rayah put her head on her shoulder. She just looked like she worked a 9-5 job and took care of 4 kids all day.
Lani nodded "Mhm, go before Rayah fell" She chuckled, seeing how hard she was trying to keep her eyes open.
"Come on Ray," Ken giggled, grabbing her hand and walking down to Rayah's room.
Since they are at each other's houses so much and have many sleepovers, they came up with the decision to get dressers. So when Ken and Matthias sleepover, they have their own personal dressers with their clothes and it was the same at Matthias's house when Rayah and Lani spent a night.
"You're such a mom-baby" Matthias chuckled, putting the sandwiches and snacks in the lunch box. Lani made lunch boxes for everyone's car with sandwiches, chips, cookies, candy, and drinks so no one had to stop for food at least.
She chuckled "I do this every road trip. Usually, I made the sandwiches but there are too many of us this year to be doing that '' She shrugged, closing up the lunch box for his parent's car.
"You did send my address to your parents right?" She asked, putting them in the refrigerator.
Matthias smiled and nodded. He was glad she was getting to know and getting along with his family perfectly. She extended the invite to them when she had a lunch date with them a few weeks ago. Everyone got along and had fun together at Kennedi's birthday party so it was going to work out fine.
"Good, let's start on your hair," She said after she cleaned and put everything away. "When we went through that time of not talking, who was doing yo' hair?" She asked as they walked down to her room.
"The salon I was going to before you started doing it" He shrugged, getting on the floor while she went into the bathroom to get her hair bag. He only let Lani do his hair now and she was always so gentle when she did it. He didn't feel like he could breathe when she did it either.
"Oh," She came out of the bathroom and sat in the chair she had in her room. He moved closer back in between her legs, she gave him the remote to the tv before taking his hair out of the man bun he had.
"You already wash and dry your hair right?" She asked before she started sectioning off his hair. This was their routine now, every two weeks on Sunday, she was doing all three of their hair. Sometimes she had to do Rayah's during the week like Thursday if she went to Jabari's house for the weekend.

"You think my hair would be this untangled if I didn't Ailani?" He asked smartly. She popped him in the head with a comb making him jump.
"I was just asking to see if I needed to wash it before I start smartass," She said, aggressively pushing his head down.
"Stop bein' so damn aggressive. Almost broke my neck" He popped her thigh, she chuckled and started to part his hair in the back.
"Twist or braids?" She asked.
"Twist" He replied, pulling his phone out.
"You have some healthy hair bubba. I love it when it's wet, It be so curly, " she said, and he chuckled. He could tell she liked doing his hair because she liked playing in it.
"Stop playin' with my feet boy" She fussed when he started rubbing her freshly done white toes. Matthias hated feet but he loved her feet. If she let him suck them then he wouldn't.
"I gotta ask you something mama," He said hesitatingly.
"What?" She asked, focusing on parting his hair.
"I want you and Rayah to move in with us," He said, feeling her stop what she was doing.
Matthias has been wanting to ask for a minute now. Usually, he wouldn't want to rush things in a relationship but he felt like Lani was just right for him. The way she loved his daughter like her own, the way she made him feel as a person. This was the happiest he's been in years, his father always told him, once you find the person that makes you feel like life itself couldn't get better then they were the one.
Of course, his dad found that in both of his moms but everyone's love was different.
"I— huh?" She asked, he turned around to face her, seeing a shook look on her face.
"I've been wanting to ask for a minute now. I know we've only been together fa' 3 months but I think we are ready. We're always over at each other's houses, so we could save money and time instead of spending different weeks with each other. Rayah and Ken would probably love that, we could change the guest room into Rayah's room. My office is big enough for us to share and you could set up your side for your business" He explained.
He already had it thought out. Even if she didn't want to share an office with him, it was nothing to fix the basement up for her.
"Um"
"I'm rushin' it? I'm sorry, forget I even said anything" He shook his head and turned back around, he now felt embarrassed. He knew patience is what it took with Lani, he didn't want to rush her and she pushed back from him.
"L-let me think about it? Okay?" She titled his head back to look into his face. He nodded and she kissed his forehead before letting his head go.
He now felt like he made a mistake.

"Turn right and you destination will be on the left"
Ailani clapped excitedly, looking around the other houses as they drove to there. She could see the water from where they were and she had to window down so she could smell the beach water.
"They would be asleep now, why was just up an hour ago," She shook her head at Sarayah and Kennedi knocked out in the back seat like they were just singing every song that came on an hour ago.
"Those songs wore them out and their tablets are probably dead now since they didn't fully charge them last night" Matthias chuckled, pulling into the driveway of the house they were staying in.
Lani shook her head and reached back and shook both of their legs "Wake uppp weren't hereee" She said softly.
Sarayah started to stern in her sleep and Kennedi slowly but surely started to open her eyes. "We at the beach, wake up," She said as Matthias was already out of the car, opening her door up and the back then door walking around to open Rayah's side.
"Leave her alone fool" Lani chuckled at Matthias sticking his finger up Rayah's nose to wake her up.
Rayah's eyes popped open and she slapped Matthias in the head out of reflex. Ken and Lani bust out laughing at his face as he was holding his head.
"I'm so sorry Matt! You scared me" Rayah apologized, unbuckling her seat belt and kissing his head then rubbing it.
"You see that? At least she apologizes" He pointed at Lani while helping Rayah out of the car.
"Don't act like I just be hitting you! Remember like 2 weeks ago when you slammed me into the wall and— NOPE! Hush!" He cut her off with widened eyes.
Lani just laughed, he felt so bad. They were playing too much and he picked her up and slammed her into the wall when she pulled his hair. She had this big bruise on her back for days and he was so sad, just apologizing for every second and kissing her to make her feel better.
He was doing quite literally everything to apologize.
"It is HOT outcha! where are the niggas?!" Brook exclaimed, getting out of the car and stretching. Autumn slapped her upside the head "Watch yo' mouth girl" She fussed, shaking her head.
"Don't you have a boyfriend?" Si asked confusedly when she and Ru walked up to everyone.
"Sadly" Brook sighed, Lani chuckled at her "You do Soren so wrong" She shook her head.
"That's what I be saying!" Syd agreed.
"Bari told me I should be a pimp and not tied down" She pointed at Jabari who twisted his lips to the side. "Run yo' mouth too much" He grumbled, as Rayah came and hugged his legs.
"See, that was yo' first mistake. Jabari a whore" Keith shook his head, and Lyric mugged him.
"Aye," Jabari frowned then smiled at Rayah who was holding his hand with Kennedi's holding his other hand. This is what Lani loved, everyone got along with everyone and was already like one big family. Nobody ever left anyone out and Bari loved Kennedi like she was his own.
"Keith, I just know you are not talking. Aren't you the same one that had lil girls come to our house about you?" Vanessa tilted her head to the side while holding her wife's hand.
"Sholl did, I thought I was going to have to beat one of those little girls up if they kept coming to our house" Autumn shook her head.
"Moms, y'all supposed to be on my side" He frowned.
"Can't be on a whore side sometimes ya know?" Vanessa shrugged.
"Y'all are killing me, let's go look at this house so I can go find an oyster bar," Lani said, smiling.
"Eww," Everyone said.
"Ouu, I want some too," Vanessa said as they all walked up to the door.

"I get the feeling this story might be one of those 'diamonds in the rough'. The premise is quite solid, there's plenty of room to flesh out the characters. It's quite easy to get into and be engaged by at the moment, imo. I don't know where the story will go from here, but it's off to a good start me thinks." - Xenower Attribution: The cave picture in the book cover is made by Stanislav Sedov and is licensed under CC-BY-SA-2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ This picture was modified from the original with an overlaid moon and sea picture to be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/ssedov/26342569905 The photographer has no affiliation to Tschallacka nor can be held accountable for the use of this picture the way as it is here.
