Heaven sat at the desk across from Da'Loni's room and just stared at the see-through window. Every since he was intubated she always avoided actually going inside. It wasn't that she didn't want to, she was just scared.
She missed him so much, his clinginess, his giggles, but she more so missed holding him while he slept. Although she didn't want Da'Loni to die, she didn't want him suffering anymore. She had officially accepted that he had ran his life course. As much as it hurt for her to believe it, she knew there was nothing anybody could do.
"Hey boo, how are you?" Jayda asked, walking in with two Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothies. One for her and Heaven. Both girls literally drank smoothies more than they ate real food. The protein and energy boosters was what kept them going.
"I'm making it Jay, what about you?" Heaven replied, taking the smoothie from her.
"Girl same, Angel is running me crazy. Her class is having a pizza party and she had the nerve to tell me that she told her teacher that I'll pay for everything." Jayda sighed. Jayda had a seven-year old daughter named Angel.
Jayda got pregnant at eighteen by her boy best friend. Everyone expected it being that they were so close and clingy to each other. Jayda's babydaddy never left her side, they weren't a couple but they were doing great co-parenting. If you were on the outside looking in, you would think that Jayda and her babydaddy were a couple being that they were always with each other and planning family dates, but that wasn't the case. They were simply best friends.
"Angel said what she said." Heaven chuckled.
Jayda only shook her head and went to punch in. She had a long shift today being that she wasn't getting off until the next morning.
"So you and Zylin." Jayda smirked, nudging Heaven's shoulder. A small smile crept on Heaven's face as her cheeks immediately started hurting from the blushing.
"We're just like vibing and enjoying each other's company. Jayda is it to early to say I like him? Like everytime I'm around him my stomach does backflips." Heaven stated.
"Of course it's not to early. There is no time limit on love or developing feelings. If the vibe is genuine and pure than of course you'll start developing something. As long as you two have a understanding then everything else should just fall in place." Jayda explained.
"But we kissed." Heaven blurted out.
"Babe, was it forced or did you like it?"
"I loved it." Heaven immediately responded.

"Then who cares that y'all kissed. Y'all are grown as hell Heaven. If y'all enjoyed the kiss then that's all that matters." Jayda nodded. Jayda could tell that Heaven was nervous about being with Zylin, she knew Heaven's back story, and she knew that Heaven struggled with being accepted.
"You right. With his li fine chocolate ass. Jayda I swear that man was made with time and dedication." Heaven grinned just thinking about Zylin.
"Aw y'all are so adorable. He does the same time when he's talking to me." Jayda cooed, rubbing her hands in sanitizer.
"Foreal? What he say?" Heaven jumped up, about to follow Jayda into one of her patient's rooms.
Before Jayda could respond Sharon cleared her throat getting everybody's attention. "There will be random drug tests today so be prepared. Also I need copies of everyone's insurance contracts. If you have not found an insurance company, you will be suspended until you do so."
Heaven's heart dropped at the first part of Sharon's speech. She remembered that she had just smoked the night before she got to work. Even though she drank water, she knew it wasn't flushed out that quick.
"But Sharon we haven't had drug tests in years." Jayda frowned. Jayda's last time smoking was a month ago, so she would probably be good, but she knew Heaven wouldn't be.
"I'm making them mandatory every five months, starting today." Sharon replied, looking dead in Heaven's face. Sharon was aware of Heaven's past of smoking, she was doing the test out of spite.
As she walked away, Heaven flipped her the bird. "That lady does not like me for some reason. I'm about to fail this damn test." She sighed, shaking her head.
"I'll pee for you. I'm about to see if I can go ahead and do mines, you need to try to be the last one so I can have time to drink water and pee again for you." Jayda stated.
"Jayda you don't have to do that." Heaven frowned.
"I know, but I am. If they ask you are you ready just tell them that you don't have to pee because you haven't been drinking water." Jayda shrugged.
"Thank you." Heaven pouted. Jayda was someone she could really call a friend. There hasn't been one time that Jayda has did or said anything grimey. She always had Heaven's back.
"No problem babe." Jayda smiled. She continued to her patient's room while Heaven walked back to the desk. Kyah was discharged, and her other patients were in the chapel. Well except for Da'Loni.
Before she knew it, her feet had guided her to his door. Her stomach was in knots just looking at the monitors he was connected to. His heart was pumping fine, but his brain wasn't doing so good.

Slowly sliding the door over, she took a deep breath and walked into his room. His crayons and coloring books sat on the nightstand while his legos and trucks were scattered around the floor.
Deciding to tape his coloring sheets to the wall, she made sure that every single one that had his name on it was above his bed. Da'Loni had just learned how to write his name, he couldn't spell it by himself only with the help of Heaven. If he spelled it himself he would spell
D-L-A-N-E.
She allowed her legs to move to her usual side of the bed as she just stood there. "Papa I miss you." She stated.
"I know you're tired." She said as the tears welled up in her eyes. "S-So I won't be mad if you stop fighting papa. I don't want you to be in anymore pain. Okay?"
She wiped her face and grabbed his small and fragile hand. Even his fingernails started loosing it's original color. "You're the strongest person I know. Stronger than Spider Man. You're stronger than me. Stronger than anybody else. I love you so much Da'Loni."
She bit down on her bottom lip as tears uncontrollably ran down her face. "Mommy loves you." She whispered. Bringing his small hand up to her lips, she softly kissed it and put it back on his side.

Heaven's fingers wandered over her phone screen as she looked at her delivery order. Her fingers were dancing over the cancel button.
She had ordered over $500.00 worth of birthday presents for Da'Loni's birthday. Before he was intubated, she was sure that he would start feeling better so she kept the order. After she went in his room today, she had lost all of that hope.
"Nurse Bridges, do you have any memory of Da'Loni's social worker. We're trying to inform them on his condition." Doctor Grey, Da'Loni's doctor approached.
"She was white, black hair, looked to be in her forties or fifties, can't remember her name." Heaven mumbled.
"Can you pull up his visitor's log, maybe we can start there." He replied.
Instead of responding, Heaven locked her phone and typed Da'Loni's name in the computer. She clicked on visitors so that she could get him his information and leave her alone.
The only names on his list were hers from whenever she visited on off days and a Paulette Osgrove. She gave Grey her name and her contact information expecting him to leave right away.
"So how are you doing?" He asked.
"Fine." Heaven kept it short. She didn't have a problem with Doctor Grey, she just didn't want to talk to him at the moment. She wasn't in the mood.
"His birthday is coming up, it'll be some miracle if he makes a big U-Turn." He stated.
"What do you want?" Heaven asked now irritated.
"Just don't give up on him yet." Doctor Grey stated.
"You and this whole entire hospital already has, so don't tell me what to do or feel." Heaven snapped, standing up and walking away.
Doctor Grey frowned at Heaven's outburst. He didn't think he said anything wrong. However, he knew she was in an emotional state, so he brushed it off.
"What you said to her Grey?" Jayda asked, watching Heaven storm off.
"Nothing, just reassured her. Has she ever gotten a psych evaluation? You know with everything that's been going on?" Doctor Grey asked, making Jayda mug his side profile.
"She don't need no damn shrink. She's going through a tough time and the last thing she needs is for some man to tell her that she's crazy." Jayda snapped.
"Just a question, why y'all females be so snappy?" Grey chuckled.
"Because of ignorant men like you." Jayda mugged, bumping past his shoulder.

Ætla Verǫld
AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading!
