I woke up with an agonizing head ache. My eyes pried themselves open to reveal a hotel bed room. "What the fuck? Where am I?" I thought out loud.

"A shitty hotel in Sydney. I had a feeling you wouldn't want to sleep at the Darrow residents." Jared appeared out of the shadows and sat on the bed next to me.

I bolted upright. "I killed you. How? Why? You should be dead." I held my head in my hands. Jesus everything hurts. I glanced down at my arms. Both writs hand track lines from IVs.

Jared shook his head. "You tried to kill me, Tann. Probably would have succeeded too but Derek intervened. You've been out cold for a few hours."

"You've got to be kidding me," I murmured. Not only did I not find Jess, but Derek got away too. My muscles clenched. This could not be any worse.

"Don't worry. I'm leaving shortly. I just couldn't leave you stranded without a little bit of background." Jared stood and handed me a bag of blood. I hesitated to take it.

"What do you mean you're leaving? We haven't found Jess yet." I hated to admit it but I needed the extra help if I was going to track her down. She could be anywhere in the world by now.

"As much as I want to reunite you with your lover, I have bigger fish to fry right now. Don't worry. You'll see me again. Just try not to kill me next time we meet."

I shook my head, "nothing you're saying makes any sense. Stop fucking with me and sit down. You aren't going anywhere."

I couldn't be this discombobulated. He wouldn't just leave me. We were best friends. We've been through everything together.

Jared shot me a toothy smile. "You'll be alright without me. You're a tough kid, T. See ya later."

Just like that Jared disappeared out the door.
