《My Vampire Ex》Gone

I felt sick to my stomach for the entire plane ride to Sydney. I shouldn't have left Finnigan like that. Jared tried to apologize for his behavior, but it only seemed to make things worse. I sat on the opposite end of the plane from him and the silence was almost as bad as the forced conversation.

As we walked up the driveway I felt Jared's hand graze my shoulder. "There's something I need to tell you before we go inside." His voice was soft and held an actual hint of remorse.

I stopped and turned to him. He had been fully healed and back to his muscular, curly haired self. "What now?" I snapped back.

"I really don't think you should come in with me. You aren't going to like what you see."

My whole body tensed. "You told me that she was here for safe keeping. If you were telling me the truth, then she will be fine. Were you lying to me, Jared?" I knew the answer, but I wanted to hear is demented mouth say it.

"To be fair, I told you I was fixing her. I wanted her to stay here forever but I knew you and Mr. Perfect wouldn't allow that, so I had a backup plan."

I sped to the front door and banged on it. My face must have reflected how I felt because Jared stayed a few paces back. "If they hurt her, I will end you," I murmured.

The door swung open and a scrawny, long haired man opened the door. His eyes widened, "Jared, your majesty. What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for my girl," I pushed past him and entered the house. I had no idea where I was going but I didn't care. I'll find her on my own.

"I wasn't expecting you here so soon. It's only been a month. I'm Derek Darrow, the head of this household." He sped in front of me and stuck out his hand. The corners of his mouth quivered in a nervous smile. Something was wrong.

"I don't give a fuck who you are. If I don't see Jessica within the next two minutes everyone in this clan will wish they were dead starting with you."

Derek retracted is hand and exchanged looks with Jared. "Of course. She's in the basement. If you just hang here I'll gladly go grab her with Jared."

"Who's this Derek? Are they here to play with me?" A little girl skipped toward us. She had pale white skin and dark red eyes. What monster turned a girl this small?

She came to a stop next to Derek and wrapped her arms around his leg. He ruffled her fiery hair and smiled down at her. "No sweetheart. They're here for Jessica." The two felt so connected. He must have been the bastard that turned her.

"But isn't Jess you and Brandon's toy, daddy," the little girl answered back.

A low growl escaped my lips and before I was aware of my actions I had grabbed the little girl by the wrist and retreated to the other side of the room. "Jessica is my toy. Your father was just keeping her safe for me, just like I'll keep you safe until he retrieves her for me."

"Ow! Let me go you meanie! Derek tell him to let me go! Jess isn't even here anymore, why is he being so mean?" The little girl squirmed in my grip but I held her tight against my chest.

Derek took a hesitant step forward with is palms facing forward. "Release her. She has nothing to do with this."

My grip tightened. "What did she just say?! Where is Jessica?!"

Jared was by my side in an instant. He placed his and on my forearm. "Tanner, dude, chill. That's Derek's daughter. She's just a kid, she didn't do anything to you."

I shrugged him off me. If they weren't answering my question, bad decision. I sped into the dining room and grabbed a chair. The girl pulled and clawed at my hand, but it did nothing. I broke the chair and held the wooden leg inches from her skin. She froze and began to sob. "Daddy help me! He's going to kill me!"

The two met me in the dining room but kept their distance. "What's your name little one?" I glanced down at her and our eyes met.

"O-olivia," she sobbed.

"Do you know where my Jess is? I care about her very, very much and I don't want to have to hurt you."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Derek trying to sneak toward me. "Don't answer that, sweetheart. Don't let him bully you."

I pulled Olivia closer to me and pressed the wood slightly into her skin. "One more step Darrow and your prized possession turns to dust." She screamed out in pain and Derek growled at me.

"Jess is not worth all of this dude. I'll find you another girl." Jared attempted to reason.

I rolled my eyes. "You have thirty seconds to tell me or this wood goes straight into her heart."

"I don't know where she is okay!? Now give me back my little girl!" Derek was getting desperate but I didn't buy it.

"Bullshit." I murmured and pushed the wood in deeper.

"Daddy, please! He's hurting me! Make it stop!" Olivia screamed.

I glanced to Derek and to my surprise, I saw tears welling in his eyes. "I'm serious dude. One of my clan members took off with her while I was away on business. I've been looking for them ever since." His voice reeked of sorrow and defeat.

I took the wood out of Oliva and aimed it in Jared's direction. "This was your plan all along wasn't it? You make me betray my brother, fly all the way out here and promise me I'll see her again just to have her wind up going missing again."

I let Oliva out of my grip and she ran to Derek. He lifted her in his arms and cradled her. It was strange to see a vampire that young in human age but he loved her so much.

Jared sped directly in front of me, the wood set just barely touching his shirt. "I swear I didn't know this was going to happen. She was supposed to be here, Tann. I wouldn't do that to you."

I let out a low and drawn out laugh. "I'd love to believe you, really, I would. But the thing is, you've fucked me over so many times Jared, too many....one too many." My eyes focused on his chest. This was it. Jess was gone. Now no one knew where she was. Jared was no longer useful too me.

He caught on to my thought pattern and he placed a shaking hand on the wood. "Tanner, I'll find her for you. I'll find her and I'll never fuck with her again. I swear on my life. Don't do this man."

"You were dead to me the moment I found out you killed my unborn son." My grip tightened on the wood and I locked eyes with my used-to-be best friend. "See you in hell." I murmured.
