《My Vampire Ex》Punching Bag

Jessica's Point of View

As soon as he was up the stairs I took off. This was my one and only time to try to escape him. To escape this life that I had been forced into. I threw the Audi's car door open and left it there, sprinting down the snow covered dirt road for my life.

My breath fogged in front of me as I panted. This altitude was not good for my escape plan. I got maybe halfway down the road, and I was already feeling faint. It didn't help that I had not eaten since I left the boarding house. How many days was that? No Jess, think only of running. Of escaping. After a few more minutes of running I realized my feet wouldn't take me anymore. I hid in a nearby shrub that had been between two cabins and attempted to slow my breathing. My body was shaking more than ever sitting in the freezing cold. I was starting to realize how stupid this was. What if he finds me? Will he kill me? And what would happen if he didn't find me? I'll likely freeze to death before morning.

A rustling sounded from the tall grass in front of me. I gasped and held my breath. Was that a bear? Or worse...Finn? I stepped back, deeper into the brush.

"I know you're here. Come out, now. I'm already beyond pissed off. Do not make it worse, Jessica." Finnigan yelled from a closer proximity. Fuck. He had tracked me down, but maybe he wouldn't find me. I closed my eyes and bit my lip trying my hardest to steady every part of my body.

I felt one hand swing from my behind me and gab my waist and the other gripped a fistful of my hair. "No! Let me go please!" I screamed and Finnigan yanked me back, hard against his chest.

He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder before speeding inside the cabin. "You're in so much fucking trouble. I cannot believe you," Finnigan muttered. He sped down a set of stairs that led to a single black metal door. I let out a whimper he threw me against the adjacent wall. Nothing good ever comes from a metal door. Pure adrenaline and fear controlled my actions now. When he started to fidget with his keys, I jolted toward the stair way, but he was expecting it. His free hand locked onto my throat and pinned me to the wall. I was about to see what Tanner was talking about. I had easily given this monster the perfect opportunity to kill me. Good going Jessica.

Once the door was open he picked me up by the throat and threw me inside. During my quick break from his wrath I glanced around. We were in the basement. The walls were all black, as was the floor. Scattered throughout the room were several weapons and surgical tables. Along the back wall, sets of chains hung, waiting for someone to occupy them. Waiting for me to occupy them. Finnigan locked the door behind them and turned to me. I looked to the floor but felt his eyes boring into my head.

"I-i'm sorry," I stammered. I knew I what I did was wrong. My attempt at an escape was pathetic. What did I expect?! To get away from a speedy quick vampire and somehow survive in the snowy wild with nothing to help me? God. I needed to think before I act.

"No. No. Don't fucking say things you don't mean, bitch. You aren't sorry...but you will be in a minute." He growled and picked me up. Finnigan sped us over to the middle of the room, raised my wrists above my head, and lifted me up. The way he handled me was effortless. It was like a grown man picking up a doll. He locked me into a set of overhanging cuffs until the metal squeezed the flesh of my wrists.

Only the tips of my toes brushing against the floor. I hung my head in shame as he sped to the other side of the room and began searching through a cabinet. I closed my eyes and shook my head. Not only have I gone against Tanner's wishes, I also angered the one vampire that has ever been nice to me. Finnigan didn't deserve what I had done to him. But that was just it. I didn't run to get away from Finn. I ran to get away from everyone else. I wish I could make him understand that.

My eyes fluttered open in time to see Finnigan wind up and punch me right in the stomach. His eyes were no longer the welcoming bright green. Instead they held nothing but hot rage inside. I let out a cry and was met with another punch. One after another landed in the same spot. He didn't care that I screamed and cried in pain. I was now Finnigan's personal punching bag. The taste of iron crept up my throat as I began coughing up blood. It fell out of my mouth an into a pool on the floor.

This was the second beating I had taken in the span of twenty-four hours. It was official: I was back in the twisted game of Tanner and Jared's torment. It seemed Finningan was a new player who's abuse was on par with the likes of Jared too. Just perfect. I totally needed another one of those.

One punch landed right on my rib cage and a snap echoed throughout the room. Finn licked my blood off of his knuckles, dropped them to his sides and stepped back. Did he hear the snap too? His eyes scanned over me as I dangled there, fading in and out of darkness. I thought about apologizing again, but didn't have the energy to open my mouth. Besides, he already made it clear, according to him I wasn't sorry. My eyes fell shut for what felt like the final time. They were too heavy to keep open. I needed to conserve any energy I had left to focus on breathing.

"If you survive the night and think you've learned your lesson, feel free to come back upstairs." Finnigan unlocked my wrists and I fell to the floor in a heap of my blood.

When I finally got the courage to glance up he had already left.
