《The Demon's Little Wolf》THE KEY

As soon as I entered my room, I froze in my place as a dark figure stood next to the window that I had left opened.

Not thinking, I mumbled a spell and blue flames shot my hands towards the intruder. As it was about to hit him, he ducked skillfully. "Geez woman. Are you trying to kill me?"

"Alexander?" I asked, perplexed as he he came out from the shadow, dusting the non existent dust from his shoulder. I let out a sigh of relief and mentally slapped myself for not noticing his scent in the room. "Are you mad? Why are you sneaking in my room at this hour. I could have killed you right now." I whispered yelled while closing the door behind me. He was still dressed in his formal wear from the dinner.

"That is how I get appreciated for coming to see you." he scoffed.

"Is someone saying that he missed me?" I said in a baby voice as I took steps towards him until I was right in front of him. I grinned sheepishly at him as he huffed. "Aww. No matter how much you say it, you are really cute." I snaked my hands around his torso and hugged him.

"I. Am. Not. Cute" He said while emphasising on each word but still hugged me back.

"For me you will always be my cute demon." I chuckled. "The irony. A cute demon" I looked up at him, resting my chin on his chest to see him shaking his head but there was a small smile one his lips. I felt so happy that he was comfortable with me. If waiting for this long was to get these cute moments with him, then it was totally worth it. Just being with him made me happy. "I missed you too."

I pulled away from him as I dragged him to my bed and we laid next to each other, on our backs and facing the ceiling. "How was your day?" I asked

"Pretty boring. We just talked with the leaders that got back from the scouting trip and tried to get some more clues on the vampires. You know I was so close to kill your brother today."

I laughed "Why. Though you don't actually need a reason."

"Nothing, just his ass ways. He kept trying to interrupt me when I was talking. I don't know how he thinks that it makes him powerful but instead it just shows his lack of professionalism."

"He is just over confident and the fact that my parents give him everything on a platter does not help either."

"Are you ever going to forgive them for what they did to you?"

I chuckled darkly as I remembered the things that they did to me. "I thought about it a lot but no. I won't. I gave them too many chances." He placed his hand on my hand that was right to his and gave it a light squeeze. I turned slightly towards him and returned his smile.

"Let's drop these dark talks. How was your day? I did not see you in lunch today."

"Oh I spent the day catching up with Evelyne and bonding with Diana. She is really cool and nice to talk to."

"That's a first one." He joked around, earning a small smack on his hand.

"You are mean." I huffed

"Told you I am not cute."

"Trust me you don't want to argue with me about that because I will keep saying it until it is engraved in your mind and you, yourself will start to find yourself cute."

"I'll just shut you up then." He smirked at me

"And how do you expect to do that?" I rolled my eyes. In one swift movement, he was was over me and the next thing I knew was that his lips were on mine as he pinned my hands above my head. Our lips moved in sync and he pulled my lower lip, earning a moan from me. He smirked against the kiss and parted my lips with his tongue as he deepened the kiss. Eventually, he pulled away, leaving me breathless.

"Like that. Need another demonstration?" He smirked at me and I just scoffed at him when on the inside I was such a mess with the sparks and fireworks making me feel like it was the forth of July inside of me.

"Keep acting like you don't like it because we both know you love it." He said as he rolled back to his side.

"Keep dreaming. Anyway, did you think about that riddle?"

"I tried to but I could not really make sense out of it except that there was probably a key involved in it."

"Hmm. That and it would probably be night since she mentioned moonlight. I think that it is actually in the same room where I found the things about her but the only thing was that there was not light source in the room. So the moon rays would not be able to get in there."

"But we should still check it since the stake is hidden in that room itself."

"Do you want to go check it now? It is night so if there was moonlight, we would see it."

I heard him groan as I got up from the bed, trying to lift him in the process. Like I said, tried. Instead I fell right back on top of him with my messy hair all over my face. It was my time to groan as I tried to get the locks out of my face only to be met with a smirking Alexander looking at me.

"Really funny" I said as I moved but instead remained in the same spot as he decided to hold me down on him by the waist. "Let's go. The earlier we go, the earlier we are going to be over with this."

"I like this position better."

"Well, when we finish finding that stake, we will have a lot of time for these positions." As soon as those words came from my mouth, I realise the stupid mistake I made and I felt the blood rush to my face.

"Remember your words little wolf" Alexander said in his low voice in my ears as he let go of the grip on my waist and I quickly got off him and walked towards the door, completely red. We sneaked out of the room, making sure none of the guards saw us and walked towards the abandoned part of the castle.

We almost made it when a voice made us halt right in our steps. "Where are you going with Alexander sister?" Rayna's voice reached my ears and I groaned while turning to face her. She had a confused look on her as she looked between me and Alexander.

"We are going to try and find the stake Princess Rayna. Please call me King Denver" Alexander replied in his professional tone.

Take that bitch Cresent said as she wagged her tail.

"Oh I want to come too." She chirped, completely ignoring the last part of what Alexander just said as she happily walked towards us. "I am sure I would of great help since I am really good at solving riddles." She looped her arms with mine and plastered probably what was the fakest smile I have ever seen in my life

The only riddle I cannot solve is how can she be so over confident and why does she want to be with Alexander. Being the daddy's girl should she not side with him and not like Alexander since he is our enemy. They are all the same, all wanting power.

I scoffed and was about to speak when someone else beat me to it. "Princess Rayna, your father is looking for you." I turned towards the source to see Diana standing there. I turned my gaze to Alexander who had a small smirk on his face. He must have linked her and told her to come get Rayna away from us.

Smart.

After all he is out mate

I rolled my eyes as I looked at Rayna's retreating figure and Diana followed suit but not before winking at me, making me laugh.

"Let's go" Alexander spoke and he intertwined our fingers as we walked in the abandoned hallways. My hand was so little compared to his and it fitted exactly in his. His calloused hands were gentle on mine and just this little gesture was enough to make my heart flutter.

With a small smile on my face, I matched his steps and soon we were in front of the wall where I had put the sign the last time I came here by accident. I muttered the opening spell and the wall slid open, revealing the dark room behind it.

I looked around the room. "Well, there is no moonlight here." I said while moving towards the shelf on the side of the room.

"Then the stake is not here I guess."

"There is another room. That is where I found about Amelia. You could say that it was kind of like a small museum for her" I said as I pulled the book back, revealing the secret staircase. I walked down and Alexander followed me.

"This one is even bigger than the previous one." He commented.

"Hmm." I hummed and my eyes fell on the lectern. The rays of the moon were falling on it, making its glow even more magical than it already was. "Look. The moon rays are on the lectern." I pointed to it

I walked closer to it and we moved the lectern aside. Underneath it was a small hole with a black hexagon shaped box. Opening it, I found a silver key lying in it with the same symbol that represents the black she wolves. Taking it in my hands, I looked around the room, trying to figure out where it would fit.

"Well, one part of the riddle is solved. We just need to know what to open with it." I said. As an idea hit me, I quickly placed the key in Alexander's hands. "Try to find it, I will be back quickly."

I quickly went up the stairs and took the book that I had pulled back to open the secret staircase and went back down. "What did you go get?"

"Since the symbol on the key represents black she wolves, where else will we find more information about it than the book on the black female she wolves." I skimmed through the pages of the book until I found the symbol.

"What does it say?"

"It says that each of the lines in the symbol represents the power of the wolves.......and that it was given to the first black she wolf. And" I trailed as I left the irrelevant details out. "Here! It says that when the first black she wolf was discovered, she was brought to the king of werewolves as that time and was........... locked. Wait what!?" I exclaimed.

"Why would they lock her?" Alexander voiced out my thoughts.

I scoffed as I read the next lines. "The moon goddess was right. The werewolf king's ego was hurt to have a female more powerful than her but then it is said that she killed that werewolf king while fighting for her rights and then the next heir took the throne as both of them had enough of the old king's ways of ruling. So it kind of ended in peace. So during the time she was captured, it is said that she was held captive in this room. If I go by what is written here, she supposedly was planning her escape and hid her things in the walls with her magic and that she had made a special key for it."

"That must be where Amelia hid the stake and this key is what will enable us to take the stake. But the only thing is where the hell did she hid it?"

"I don't know. They like to complicate things too much. There are four sides of walls and now we have to check each side" I huffed and closed the book

"Let's get to work little wolf."
