《The Demon's Little Wolf》EXPLORING

I watched the ball bounce on the wall opposite my to where I was sitting and coming back into my palms for the hundredth time as I was lost in my thoughts. I groaned as I threw the ball at the wall one last time and let it bounce away instead of catching it. I laid my head against my bed as I was sitting on the floor.

It's been a week since that incident between Alexander and I. Honestly things have been going the same except for the fact that I only stay in my room now. I don't even go out to spend time at the park or even to eat.

So much for not bottling up my emotions.

Get up and at least do something productive.

Easier said than done. I am not interested in bumping into our dear mate or even make eye contact.

You are acting foolishly Lizzie. You should not try to resist the mate bond. It was there for a reason. Resisting it will not lead to anything good.

Go explain that to him Cresent. I am willing to do anything to make this work. Only if he would stop being an asshole and tell me the reason why he is such an asshole. I do not want to resist the mate bond either Cresent but he leaves me with no choice.

Lizzie...

No Cresent. I've had enough of people walking over me, especially not some stuck up asshole.

Think about it at least.

Sorry Cresent but this time if he wants me, he has to man up and admit it. If he is not interested then I don't care.

Fine

Let's go do some exploring to cheer you up now because I will not be at ease with the fact that you are feeling low.

What should we explore?

Are you serious right now Cresent? We are literally in a castle and you know what are present in castles?

Uhhhh...

Secrets. There are always secrets that have been hidden in these castle. They could be behind a painting, in a wall, the gardens or even better. A secret room!

You should seriously stop reading those books.

As if I could ever stop reading. It's the best thing in the world to do. At least for me. Anyway let's get going.

I got up from my sitting positions and dusted my clothes as I moved towards my closet. I grabbed my denim jacket and put it over my clothes and slipped on my sandals.

I got out of my room only to be greeted by the noise of people talking around in the hallway. I totally forgot that it is usually at this time that training ends and most of them head back to their rooms which to my dismay, is found in the same hallway as mine.

I huffed before stepping into the hallway and made a beeline to the more quiet areas of the castle. I found myself standing in front of a rather dirty hallway. Compared to the other places of the castle, this one seemed that it had not been taken care of for what seemed like a decade to me.

The usually cream wall was covered with dust, giving it a brown look and spider weds hung from the corners of the walls. The different artefacts displayed at irregular distances around the hallway were coated with a layer of dust.

Just a glance at the beginning of the hallway gave me goosebumps and I did not even know why. The hallways seemed familiar but I just could not put my finger on WHY. I studied the details on the walls as I made my way further down the hallway. I let my finger slide on the wall as I walked, leaving a trail of my fingers in the midst of all the dust covering the wall.

As I kept going, I felt a strange sense of familiarness pass through me, making my heart beat pick up its pace. I did not remember this part of the palace but yet I felt connected to this place. I kept looking around, studying the intricate golden details on the wall as my feet led me in front of a beige double door. My heart skipped a beat as I realised where I actually ended up reaching.

My clammy hands found their way on the door knob and twisted it slowly. The door creaked open to give view to a room full of dust everywhere and spider webs. I stepped in and locked the door behind me. The curtains were drawn and no light source was entering in the room. Layers of dust covered the beds, couches and shelves in the room.

I looked around to see the once beautiful room that was mine, turned into something like an attic. When I was 5, this was where I stayed and this is where everything happened. No wonder they don't take care of the room. Chuckling darkly, I made my way to the walk in closet. It was in no different state. The clothes that belonged to me were all over the place, torn, covered with dust and blood, just like the last time I was here.

Swallowing the lump that was forming in my throat, I went towards the end of the walk in closet and moved a pile of clothes that was thrown over there to reveal one of the only memories I had of when my family and I were on good terms. Underneath the pile of clothes, laid a photo frame with flower designs carved into the wooden frame. The picture consisted of a happy family. My happy family.

It was taken at the time I was just a few days old and before everything changed for the worse. Before someone decided it would be good to tell my parents about a stupid prophecy that ruined my life instead of making it better. Before the incident happened. Before my family sent me away............ The picture consisted of my mother holding me with my dad placing his hand around her shoulder, both of them beaming at the camera. Near their feet, stood the twins, no different. Nobody would say that this happy family would turn into how it is today.

Sighing, I got up and got out of the closet as I felt tears starting to prick my eyes. I dashed out of the room, shutting the door behind me. I walked away, panting as the memories came rushing to me. Soon my brisk walk, turned into a run. I ran through the hallways and the scenes that happened years ago, kept flashing in my mind as I imagined them occurring right next to me. People's screams echoed in my ears. Blood splattered on the walls. Loud growls played in my ears.

I kept running as far as my feet could take my while covering my ears with my hands, trying to block the agonising cries of others. I came to an abrupt stop and leaned my hands against a wall, trying to catch my breath. Out of nowhere, the wall disappeared and I fell right through.

Great!..............not.
