《The Star Goddess (Watty's 2018)》Chapter Eight

The drive to my new house was quick this time around. Oh, that's so weird. It's gonna take me a while to get used to saying "my"to everything, I thought to myself.
On the drive, we talked about how I going to have to go to school starting Monday. I was a year behind in academics because when I was first placed into the system when I was five, I didn't start school when I should have so I have to go for junior year and senior year of high school.
"I hope they like me," I muttered. I wasn't good with people to begin with.
"They are gonna love you, baby," Tara reached back and grabbed my hand.
"They will be welcoming. The kids at Mooncrest High are all very nice," Cole reassured me.
We pulled into the driveway and Cole parked the car. He grabbed my bags out of the back before I had even gotten out.
"I think we should take you to go get your license," Tara suggested.
"But I'm not eighteen yet," I pointed out.
"So what? We'll put you through driving school," Cole responded.
"Really? Thank you guys," I was so grateful. I hugged each of them and tried to take my bags but Cole yanked them back.
"I'll do it, sweet pea," he said.
"At least give me the small one," I said firmly. Cole shook his head as he and Tara laughed at my pouty face. We all walked inside together, laughing. Cole ran my stuff up to my room and Tara led me to the living room. Cole came back down and sat down next to Tara across from me.
"Hun, we need to tell you something," Tara said, seemingly nervous.
"Well, we need to ask you something first," Cole cut in. I nodded for them to go ahead and ask.

"How much do you know about your birth parents?" Cole asked. We hadn't hit this topic in detail so it was kinda touchy.
"Not much, actually. All I know about my mother is that she abandoned us as soon as I was born. My dad-" I choked up.
"It's okay, sweet pea," Cole reassured me.
"All I really know is that he became my whole world for five years then he was killed in an animal attack," i whispered.
Cole and Tara looked at each other and had a silent conversation that I wasn't involved in.
"Stella..." Tara started. "Your mother didn't exactly abandon you."
"What does that mean?" I asked, confused.
"How much do you know about werewolves?" Cole asked.
Holy fucking shit. We're having the conversation that I overheard earlier this week. Of all the scenarios that went through my head, werewolves didn't come across. That makes sense now that ai think about it. Cole did call the person on the phone "Alpha". I zoned out.
"Uhh, Stella?" Tara asked snapping me out of my reverie. I broke out laughing and they looked at me like I was crazy.
"Well, it could have been worse. I was thinking you were in a gang or something," I started laughing again. Both of them cocked their heads at me.
"When I came over to see the house, Cole got a phone call. I didn't quite go upstairs like you told me to," I admitted as I looked him in the eye. "But on the phone you said you were going to tell me Saturday so I didn't worry about it. I was worried you guys were in a gang or something. I can't believe I didn't guess werewolves. I mean, for god sakes, you called the guy 'Alpha'," I chuckled again.

"Uhhh uhh" both Cole and Tara looked at me with dumbfounded expressions.
"You don't seem to be..." Tara started.
"Scared or surprised or anything? Nope. I was expecting something bad. This is pretty cool. My parents are werewolves. So can I see?" I asked.
"See what?" Cole replies with a question. I rolled my eyes.
"Your wolves. Duh. Woooooah! I jus got that! You're mates! That's why you guys are so cute and lovey-dicey together! YAY!" I got really excited.
"Well, yes you can see our wolves but we have something else to tell you. Maybe we should just start from the beginning," Tara said. I nodded in approval of their plan.
