《Chasing the New Girl - (Complete)》Chapter 50

Jolie woke up the next day to the sun streaming into the huge hotel room windows that were on two walls. That was the one down side to having a corner room but the amazing views were worth it. She was still snuggled up against Austin's chest and he was sound asleep.

She very carefully removed her arm from around him and slowly got up off the bed, grabbing her phone from the night stand. When her screen lit up she saw a text from Bailey.

She tiptoed over to the sliding door and very carefully slid it open and pulled it most of the way closed behind her, leaving a little gap because pulling it all the way shut would be too loud. It was a little cold out here but she didn't want to call her inside and wake up Austin.

She dialed Bailey's number and it rang twice before she answered.

"Hey you!" Bailey answered. "So how was your night last night?" she asked excitedly. "I want details!"

"Well I think you're going to be disappointed. We didn't sleep together last night," Jolie said, picking at the strings on her pajama shorts.

"Awww," Bailey said, sounding disappointed. "I thought for sure it would happen last night. Blaze said that Austin booked this really fancy hotel room so I just thought you'd cave."

"No I didn't cave. Don't get me wrong. Austin's gorgeous and he's sweet and smart and funny. I'm in love with him but there's this nagging feeling I can't shake that's telling me something about him's not right."

"Why?" Bailey asked. "You guys are perfect for each other and it's plain to anyone around you that you guys are in love."

"I was already having my doubts but then last night at the dance I ran into Mandy in the bathroom. She said that Chaz told her Austin planned to sleep with me and get the money and then he's going to go back to Mandy. She said he's not the sweet boy next door that I think he is and that he has a dark side."

"You don't really believe that do you?" Bailey asked.

"I don't really know what to believe. I just realized that Austin and I haven't been together that long and maybe I don't know him as well as I think I do. What if Mandy's right and he's just playing me and going to break my heart?

"Well, I've grown up around Austin and even though we weren't friends until recently I can tell you he's not the type of guy to play with a girl's emotions and he definitely isn't the kind to sleep with a girl just to get some money. He's a good guy Jolie. Probably one of the best guys I've ever met and you don't want to screw it up with him because of something Mandy told you. She's a bitch and would do anything to come between you so she can get him back."

"I don't know. Maybe you're right."

"I am! You need to get out of your own head and let yourself be happy. You and Austin are perfect together and he loves you. I know that for a fact."

"Thank you Bailey. I really needed to hear that right now."

"Anytime. I'll talk to you later. Call me when you get home," she told her and they both hung up.

Jolie stood up and was looking down at her phone. When she got to the sliding door she was stunned to see Austin standing there and he looked pissed.

Her heart sank. She wondered how long he had been standing there and what he heard.

She slid the door open and said, "Hi."

His jaw was clenched and he said, "You're never going to trust me are you? No matter what I do you're going to believe what everyone else tells you over me. I've told you over and over that I love you and want to be with you but when you got that text telling you I was behind the website you believed them right away and broke up with me. Now Mandy tells you I'm just trying to sleep with you for the money and you're just going to believe her like that? Seriously?"

She could see hurt and anger written all over his face and her eyes started to burn and she reached out for him, desperate not to lose him.

He yanked his arm away before she could touch him and said, "No Jolie! Not this time. I'm not just going to forgive you and forget about this like it's nothing. I love you so much and all I've wanted is for you to love me back and trust me. I beat my best friend within an inch of his life because he hurt you and got thrown in jail and almost lost my scholarship to Harvard because of it and STILL you don't believe me when I say I love you. I can't do this any more."

Jolie started crying and a tear ran down her cheek.

"Please Austin! I'm so sorry! You're right. I've been horrible to you and I should've just trusted you. I'm sorry!" she sobbed.

He turned around and grabbed his phone and threw his duffel bag over his shoulder and started heading towards the door.

Jolie followed him and begged, "Please Austin! Let's just talk about this! I"m so sorry."

Austin opened the door and turned around to look at her and said, "So am I. I really thought you were my forever but I can't be with someone that always thinks the worst of me and doesn't trust me. You can take the limo home, I'll just call an Uber."

With that he stepped out the door and when it shut behind him Jolie's legs gave out and she fell to her knees and buried her face in her hands and started crying. She had trouble catching her breath as she sobbed and tears streamed down her face.

She couldn't believe she had lost Austin. He meant more to her than she had realized because now she felt completely lost, hopeless and desperate to have him back. Losing him felt like part of her heart left with him. She had messed everything up and she knew it was all her own fault. She never should've believed that text message that said Austin was behind the website or the things Mandy told her. Bailey was right that he is a good man. She should've trusted Austin and what they had together because it was really special and now she had messed it all up.

On the way home in the limo she called Bailey and told her that Austin had overheard their conversation and broke up with her and she was crying so hard that several times she had to stop to cry or repeat what she had said. When the limo dropped her back off at her house she went inside to see her Mom, Grandma, Aunt and Bailey were all there and as soon as she saw them she dropped her bag to the floor and walked up and gave them a group hug and started crying.

She stepped back and sobbed, wiping the tears from her eyes and her Grandma walked up and took her hand and said, "How about all of us sit around the table and have a nice hot cup of tea and have some girl talk?"

Jolie nodded and said, "Yeah, I'd like that," as another tear ran down her cheek.

Having those four women there to cheer her up was exactly what she needed and now she understood why her Mom was so desperate to move back here close to them when she had her heart broken. She told the whole story to all of them, every embarrassing detail and she felt so guilty and stupid for the way she had acted and how she had treated him. She couldn't blame him for breaking up with her and she hated herself for it. It almost would've been easier if he had turned out to be the bad guy Mandy made him out to be but instead she was the bad guy and she had hurt him.

"You can ride with me and Blaze to school in his car from now on until you get a car of your own," Bailey offered, squeezing her hand and giving her a sympathetic smile.

"Thank you," she said softly, wiping her tears away.

"I'm going to go take a nap," she finally said, getting up from the table and dragging herself upstairs. When she plopped down in her bed she noticed that Austin's blinds were drawn. He almost never drew his blinds so it felt like a punch in the gut.

She laid there and squeezed one of her stuffed animals to her chest and cried before she finally picked up her cell phone and sent him a text.

She laid the phone down and exhaled deeply. Then she heard a knock at her door and rolled over to see her Mom and Bailey standing there and her Mom was holding her Twilight box set and Bailey had a big bowl of popcorn.

"Twilight movie marathon?" her Mom asked softly.

Jolie gave them a half smile and pulled the blanket back and patted the bed and they both came in and snuggled up with her and started watching the movies. Not even Robert Pattinson could cheer her up right now but she definitely appreciated the effort.

The rest of the weekend was spent mostly in bed in her pajamas. She didn't even have the energy to workout and she cheated on her diet more than a few times. She didn't care about anything anymore. Austin never did reply to her text message which made her feel even worse and his Jeep hadn't been over at his house at all. She couldn't help but wonder where he was and who he was with.
