When the song was over, the Principal came up to the stage and spoke into the microphone. "We're going to take a quick break for everyone to cast their votes for Homecoming King and Queen. You need to scan your school ID card at the computer and all the votes are calculated electronically so we'll have the results right away. The computers are located just down the hall in the computer lab. Go ahead and make your way there now."

Jolie and Bailey stopped at the table to put their shoes back on and then Austin grabbed Jolie's hand giving her a kiss and saying, "I love you" as they headed towards the computer lab.

"I love you too Austin," she said smiling over at him. She loved him so much that she felt like her heart might explode and she wanted to be with him forever. She couldn't even imagine being with anyone else besides him. He was right. They really were a perfect match.

The line moved really quickly because it only took about 5 seconds per person to vote. You just scanned your school badge and then tapped the screen for the guy and girl you wanted to vote for. It was so weird for Jolie to see her name on there and think that people here had actually voted for her to be on Homecoming Court. At her old school no one even knew she existed besides her two best friends.

After the vote they all went back into the gym and danced to several more songs, stopping to take a break and drink some punch now and then. When it was almost the end of the night, the principal came back up to the stage and said, "Ok if everyone would please take a seat at one of the tables, we're going to go ahead and announce the Homecoming King and Queen. Can we please have our Senior Class President, Austin Fox, come up here and announce the winners?"

Austin let go of Jolie's hand and gave her a kiss before walking over and climbing the steps to the stage. The principal handed him an envelope and he went up to the microphone.

"Thank you Mrs. Grant. Ok. Now for the moment we've all been waiting for. This first envelope is for the Homecoming Queen," he said ripping it open. He got a smile on his face as he read out "Jolie Watson!"

Jolie was so stunned, she just sat there in shock for a few seconds, before she realized she was supposed to go up there on stage. She walked up and the principal put a sash on her that said, "Homecoming Queen" and placed a beautiful sparkly tiara on her head.

She couldn't believe it. She had actually beat Mandy and the other cheerleaders which just seemed crazy. Austin spoke into the mic again and said, "And now for the Homecoming King."

He ripped open the envelope and paused staring at it for a minute before he said, "Blaze McDaniels."

Jolie was disappointed. She had really hoped that Austin would win. Blaze got up out of his seat and came up on stage, leaning down so the short principal could put the crown on his head. The principal got back on the mic and said, "Congratulations to both of you! Now we're going to have the King and Queen go out on the floor and share a slow dance."

Her heart dropped. She was going to have to slow dance with Blaze in front of all these people. She looked over at Austin and could see the disappointment on his face too. Even though she considered Blaze a good friend now slow dancing with him was going to be weird.

Blaze led the way out onto the dance floor and Jolie followed behind. They stood there face to face and suddenly a bright spotlight was turned on, shining right in their faces. A slow song came on and Jolie stepped forward and awkwardly put her hands on his shoulders and he seemed unsure of where to put his hands before settling for her waist. There was a big gap between them and Jolie looked at his face and he seemed just as uncomfortable about this as her.

She laughed and said, "This is super awkward isn't it?"

He laughed too and said, "Yeah. If you had told me to dance with you a couple weeks ago I would have been all over you but now it just feels weird. You know I want to say I'm sorry about trying to sleep with you those times just to try to win the bet. That was really shitty of me. I know you ended up with the right person and so did I," he said smiling over at Bailey.

"It's alright Blaze. Just don't try to do it any more and we'll be good," she said laughing. "I'm really glad to see you and Austin becoming friends again. He needs a good friend right now after everything that happened with Ryan."

"Yeah it's nice to be his friend again. People might look at us and think we don't have much in common but I think that's what I need. I need someone to try to influence me to be better than I am. I'm a total screw up and I know it but I want to be better. Bailey deserves somebody better so I'm going to try to be that for her."

"Awww. That's really sweet Blaze. I'm so happy for you guys," Jolie said smiling. They stood there swaying back and forth with his hands on her hips and Jolie looked over at Austin and he had a pained look on his face. It was obviously bothering him to see the two of them slow dancing together.

"I still can't believe I actually won Homecoming Queen," Jolie said.

"Well they don't let the same people win Homecoming King and Queen and Prom King and Queen so everyone saves the vote for the two most popular people for Prom. That will probably be Austin and Mandy if I had to guess," he said and Jolie pictured Austin having to slow dance with Mandy and she didn't like that thought at all.

Finally the song was over and they split apart and walked back over to their table. Jolie sat in the chair that Austin had scooted right up next to him and Blaze and Bailey went out on the dance floor together. "Well that was awkward. I really was hoping that you were going to win with me."

Austin looked at her and said, "Even though me and him are friends now, I couldn't stand seeing you up there dancing with him with his hands on your waist. It brought back memories of that night I looked at your window and saw you kissing him in your bedroom."

Jolie's mouth dropped open and she said defensively, "I didn't kiss him. He kissed me that night and I pushed him away. Do you know what we talked about the whole time we were dancing?"

Austin looked over and said, "No, what?"

Jolie straightened up his tie and said, "How much I am in love with you and how much he is in love with Bailey and how us dancing together felt so awkward and weird. I'm not Mandy, Austin. I would never cheat on you. I hope you know that."

Austin leaned forward and gave her a long kiss before laying his forehead against hers and saying, "I love you Jolie."

"I love you too Austin," she whispered, closing her eyes and letting out an exhale.

After they got up and slow danced with each other for the next song Jolie said she needed to go to the bathroom and made her way through the flood of people and got in line. After she struggled to unzip the dress by herself and pee and then get it zipped back up she stepped out of the stall and saw Mandy there washing her hands. That was the last person she wanted to run in to.

Mandy narrowed her eyes at her.

"You probably think you've won don't you? You got the crown. You got the guy. The joke's on you though. Everyone at this school knows that Austin's only with you so he can win the cash and as soon as he sleeps with you and gets that money he's going to come running right back to me. Chaz said this whole thing is just a big scam and you're falling right into Austin's trap."

Jolie's anger was starting to build up inside and her fists tightened.

"Shut up Mandy. You're just mad you lost and he doesn't want you anymore. It's obvious."

Mandy laughed as she reached for the paper towel and dried her hands.

"He's really got you fooled doesn't he? You think he's the sweet innocent boy next door that's really in love?" she laughed. "Oh my gosh you do. Well believe what you want but I'm going to love rubbing it in your face that I was right when he takes your virginity and then drops you the next day and breaks your heart. Austin's got a very dark side that you've never seen. Don't say I didn't warn you."

Mandy turned on her heel and walked out of the bathroom swinging her hips with a evil smirk on her face that gave Jolie goosebumps and a chill ran up her spine. There was something seriously wrong with that girl. She wondered if any part of what Mandy was saying was true. Mandy had gone to school with him for years and Jolie hadn't known him very long so she wondered if there was any truth to what she said.

She walked out of the bathroom feeling like she was in a daze and her mind was reeling, replaying Mandy's words over and over in her head. As much as her common sense told her not to trust a word Mandy said because she was obviously still in love with Austin and trying to get him back, even more doubts were now creeping up in her mind.
