《Chasing the New Girl - (Complete)》Chapter 46

Before long the food came out and everything was delicious and pretty soon they were all stuffed out of their minds.
"That was the best dessert I've ever had," Bailey said, taking the last bite of her creme brulée.
"Are you guys ready to go?" Austin asked and they all said, 'Yeah', so they got up out of the booth and Austin took Jolie's hand and helped her out of her seat.
Austin grabbed her hand and weaved his fingers through hers and kissed the back of her hand as they walked outside to their limo and everyone climbed into the back.
When they got to the high school, there was a red carpet laid down on the sidewalk and red ropes to hold the crowd back on the sides. It was mostly parents and relatives standing there to take pictures but it made them feel like movie stars. Austin got out first and then held his hand out to help Jolie get out and she wrapped her arm around his as he escorted her down the red carpet. It felt like they were famous people at a movie premiere getting pictures taken by the paparazzi.
When they got into the gym it was dark and there was a mirror ball at the top making little circles of light dance around the room. There were streamers all over the ceiling and hundreds of black and white balloons everywhere.
"You guys look great! Can I take your photo for the yearbook?" a girl asked Austin and Jolie. She recognized her from school but didn't know her name.
"Sure" Austin said and he put his arm around Jolie and they both smiled at the camera as she took a few pictures.
"Thanks!" she said walking off.
The four of them found a table and sat down and Jolie told Austin, "I'm so nervous about dancing. I used to take dance classes when I was really little but this is a totally different kind of dancing. I've never actually slow danced with a guy before."
He looked down and whispered in her ear, "You're going to have lots of firsts today. You look so amazing in that dress, but I can't wait to take it off of you tonight."
She looked into his eyes and said, "Yeah I guess I will." Jolie smiled shyly at the thought of it. In just a few hours the plan was for that to really happen and suddenly she was so nervous.

They heard a slow song come on in the background and Austin stood up and held his hand out. "Can I have this dance?" he asked her and she slid her hand into his and stood up.
"Of course you can. Just don't expect great dancing," she laughed.
When they got out onto the floor she wrapped her arms around his neck and he put his hands on her waist, pulling her body close to his. They rocked back and forth to the music and she was so close she could feel his heart beating against his chest and his minty breath on her cheek. She took a deep breath in taking in the smell of his cologne that she loved so much before looking up into his eyes and he was looking at hers too.
He studied her face for a minute and asked softly, "What are you thinking Jolie?"
She smiled and said, "I was just wondering how in the world I got so lucky to be with you? Every girl in the school wants you and for some crazy reason you chose me."
"Crazy reason?" he laughed. "Do you know every girl at this school is jealous of you? Not because you're with me, but because of how amazing you are. I didn't even know it was possible for a girl to be as beautiful as you and still be that smart and sweet and humble. Jolie you are the most beautiful girl at this school and you don't even know it. You're also the smartest. You're even smarter than me which is pretty hard to do," he said laughing. "When I dated Mandy it was just because of her looks but I realized pretty quick that she was really ugly on the inside."
He gave her a kiss on the lips before saying, "I hate it when you insult yourself because I wish you could see yourself through my eyes and see how amazing you are. You're like my perfect match."
"You think so?" she asked.
"I don't think so. I know so. You like to workout and run just like I do, so I don't have to workout by myself anymore. You try to eat healthy just like I do so you don't try to force unhealthy foods on me and make me feel guilty for not being "fun" enough. You worry about your grades just as much as I do and you'd be fine skipping a party to stay in and study with me if I asked you to. You're also the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my entire life. If I could have built the perfect girlfriend for me in a science lab you would literally be what I would make. Sometimes I wonder if you're even real because you're too good to be true."

Hearing that made her smile and she said, "I've thought the same thing about you, like I'll wake up and find out you were just a dream because there's no way someone like you could really love me."
They danced in silence for a minute before Austin said, "I have to tell you something and you'll probably think it's funny. The day we met when you moved here I saw you out my window and thought you were beautiful. My Mom never asked me to go introduce myself to the new neighbors. I just used that as an excuse because I wanted to talk to you."
Jolie got a shocked look on her face. "What?!" she laughed. "Are you serious? I looked so terrible that day after riding in the car for 13 hours! That's actually why I rushed in the house and didn't stay to talk to you. I was SO embarrassed. I thought you were the hottest guy I'd ever seen and I didn't want you to see me like that."
He smiled and said, "Yeah. That night we watched the movie in my room, I've never been nervous around a girl like that before. I was thinking about trying to hold your hand or put my arm around you but I chickened out because I'd never met anyone from New York and I thought you might karate chop my throat or something," he laughed. "I was thinking about asking you out on a date that night but for some reason I didn't. I thought a girl like you from a big city could probably never like a small town guy like me."
Jolie's mind was blown and she looked at him and said, "So you seriously liked me before I got the makeover? I was getting flirty vibes but then I convinced myself that there was no way a guy that looked like you would ever like a nerdy girl like me."
"You weren't nerdy Jolie. I actually thought your glasses were pretty cute. Not that I don't like the way you look now, but you were already beautiful before too. Just so you know, being smart is very attractive. At least it is to a nerd like me," he laughed.
Jolie scrunched her eyebrows at him. "You did NOT seriously just call yourself a nerd?" she laughed. "You're Austin Fox, the most popular guy in school and the quarterback of the football team for goodness sakes," she laughed, rolling her eyes.
He said, "Well I'm a nerd on the inside who just happens to be really good at sports I guess."
"Well then you're the hottest nerd I've ever seen," she laughed.
"That's funny. I was just thinking the same thing about you when you called yourself a nerd."
Jolie laid her head on his shoulder as they swayed back and forth and thought about everything he just said. She couldn't believe he actually liked her before the makeover when she was just being herself.
The slow song turned off and switched to a hip hop song and they split apart and Jolie threw her arms up in the air and started swinging her hips back and forth, bobbing her head. Blaze and Bailey came over and started dancing by them too and they all laughed and had a great time. The girls ended up kicking their high heels off because their feet started to hurt and then came back to dance some more.
Jolie noticed that Austin was actually a really good dancer and she thought, 'He's literally good at everything.' Austin got behind Jolie and put his hands on her hips, grinding against her and she felt herself blushing again. She noticed other couples were dancing the same way. Feeling his body so close with his hands on her hips made her feel flushed and hot inside.
