《Chasing the New Girl - (Complete)》Chapter 44

The next morning Jolie woke up to sunlight streaming in through the window and she felt so well rested. She smiled as she remembered that today was the Homecoming Dance. When she got downstairs her Mom was in the kitchen and she asked, "How's Austin feeling? That hit looked pretty brutal!"
Jolie remembered her Mom had been there watching the game with Karen and said, "He's a little banged up and sore but he'll be ok. Oh I haven't seen you so I didn't get a chance to tell you the good news. Austin got a call yesterday and Harvard is still going to accept him, so we'll be going there together for sure. Isn't that great?"
"That's amazing Jolie. I'm so happy for the two of you," her Mom smiled, coming over and giving her a hug.
Her Mom looked a lot better than she did last night so it seemed like whatever her Grandma had done was working.
After eating breakfast she went back up to her bedroom and looked out her window and noticed Austin wasn't in bed any more. She decided to go ahead and go for a run to get out her nerves about the day ahead. She was still thinking about what her grandma said last night. She wondered if she did change her mind and decide not to go through with it how angry Austin would be. He might even be so mad he would dump her over it. That thought really worried her because she loved him and couldn't even stand the thought of losing him.
She put on her grey yoga pants, a black sports bra and a white crop hoodie sweatshirt that showed her stomach and headed out the door to stretch in the front yard. The air was starting to get cooler as Fall was setting in and she noticed the leaves were now just starting to change colors and there was a cool breeze blowing.
Jolie turned on some music on her phone and slipped it in the little pocket of her yoga pants and put her apple airpods in her ears, before jogging off down the road. A couple minutes up the road she slowed down at the stop sign of an intersection and was waiting to cross when she was grabbed up from behind by someone. Jolie let out a scream and tried to wrestle herself away from the person but they had a hold of her tightly and it was no use.

That was when she recognized the smell of his cologne and she stopped fighting. She pulled the airpods out of her ears and turned around to see Austin standing there smiling down at her, wearing gym shorts and a baggy t-shirt with the arms cut off and the sides cut down low so that you could see his muscles.
"Austin! You about gave me a heart attack! I thought I was about to be kidnapped and murdered!" she said, smacking his arm.
He laughed. "I'm sorry! I was calling your name but you couldn't hear me with those things in your ears. I saw you stretching out in the front yard and I figured I'd join you on your run."
"Are you feeling better or are you still really sore this morning?"
"I feel a lot better. I put ice on it and that helped a lot," he said walking forward and pulling her into him for a kiss. He looked down at what she was wearing and said, "You look great by the way. With you walking around like this I might not be able to wait for tonight," he said kissing her again and putting his hands on her bare waist to pull her up against him.
A car drove by with some boys in it and they yelled "Woohoo! Get some!" out the window, making Austin and Jolie laugh.
"Come on Austin. Let's just finish our run," Jolie said laughing and starting to jog down the road.
He caught up and smacked her on the butt and said, "Man I really love those yoga pants. Too bad you can't wear those to Homecoming tonight," and she laughed again and shook her head. She couldn't help but notice how excited he was about tonight and she felt bad that she was having second thoughts.
After they ran for about an hour Austin asked, "Do you want to come back to my house and work out in the gym?"
"Yeah sure," Jolie answered.
They headed back to his house and went down to the basement gym.
"I still can't believe you have a full gym in your basement. It's just crazy," Jolie said walking in and flipping on the lights.
Austin said, "Yeah when we start searching for apartments at Harvard we need to make sure it's in a building with a good gym or that there's one close we can walk to. We probably should start looking soon because I've heard their apartments are taken pretty quick."

Jolie smiled and said, "Yeah we should do that."
The thought of picking out an apartment together made everything so real. They were really about to move away to college in a few months and get an apartment and live together. She was going to live with Austin Fox. She thought back to the first time she met him and how he made her so nervous she couldn't even speak. If the her from back then could look into the future and see what was happening now, she would never believe it in a million years.
Jolie did the stair stepper and ab machines and he lifted weights for over an hour and she kept catching him eyeing her from across the room. She wondered what he was thinking. When they were done they were both pretty exhausted, but they decided to take a picture in front of the mirror again so Jolie could post it on her Instagram. She had started to build up quite a following on Instagram since she moved here and started posting up pictures of her and Austin together.
That evening Jolie's Mom helped her with curling her long blonde hair and applying her makeup to be a little bit more dramatic than normal, with a subtle smoky eye. She wore some false eyelashes and coral lipstick that complimented the pink dress she had picked out and pinned the top part of her hair up, leaving the back of it down in curls. She put on the dress and then stood back and looked in the mirror, shocked at how beautiful she looked.
"The limo's out front!" her Mom called upstairs and as she came down her Mom covered her mouth and started to cry. "You look so beautiful honey!"
She came and gave her a hug and then took a few pictures before they heard the doorbell ring. Her Mom opened the door and that's when she saw Austin standing there in a black and white tux, looking so handsome it took her breath away. He looked so sophisticated and grown up.
He looked Jolie up and down with a look of awe on his face and said, "Wow. You look amazing!"
"You look great too Austin!" she said blushing. Now she was really nervous for the dance with him looking like that. She had to fight back the voice in the back of her mind that told her she wasn't good enough for him. She was still working hard to overcome her old insecurities but once in a while they crept back up, especially times like this when he looked too good to be real.
"Oh my gosh! Look at you two! You both look so gorgeous!" Her Mom said, walking into the room followed by her Dad.
"Dad! I'm so glad you're still here!" Jolie said running up and giving him a hug.
"I wouldn't miss your first dance for anything. Hey Austin! How are you young man?" her Dad asked shaking his hand.
"I'm really good sir. Thanks to you."
Austin's Mom walked in from the kitchen as well and reacted the same way Stacy had. Jolie and Austin took several pictures together in front of the fireplace in the living room for all three parents before they heard a ring at the doorbell. Jolie ran to answer it and there were Blaze and Bailey on the front step both looking gorgeous. He had picked her up at her house and they had ridden over here together.
Bailey had left her red hair down and curled it and her makeup was flawless. She looked amazing in the gold dress that they had picked out and she had the biggest smile on her face being on Blaze's arm. Jolie gave her a hug and said, "Oh my gosh! You guys look amazing! We've got to come in so my Mom can take some group pictures!"
They all posed together for pictures in front of the fireplace and then they took several pictures outside in front of the house and some in front of the limo before finally saying goodbye to their parents and climbing in to the back of the limo. Blaze and Bailey got in first and sat on the long seat running along the side of the limo and Austin and Jolie sat together on the seat against the back window.
The driver put down the divider and said, "Hey guys! You all look great. Where are we heading?"
"Oh my gosh guys. We never decided where we wanted to eat and made a reservation!" Jolie said.

I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life.
