Scarlett's pov

I watched as William came down the stairs to the living room. I tried to look away and move into my slave position but I couldn't. It was like my eyes were locked with his.

Everything else became blank, there was an invisible string pulling me up off the ground then over to him. He didn't look at me with hatred and disgust anymore, but with love. I had never experienced that before.

He slowly reached up to touch my face and I noticed how big his hands were. They looked so rough, used. There was a little dirt on them wedged between his fingernails.

As he gently grazed me cheek with his fingertips I heard him whisper

"mate."
