Beads of sweat roll down Caelum's brow as he pushes, he's tired and achy and just plain exhausted.

But the contractions don't stop, they're one on top of another and he hurts. He just wants to close his eyes and sleep.

"One more," Dr. Vega insists.

Caelum whimpers, he can't.

He slumps against the pile of pillows and sobs. He wants Aerglo, wants his mate.

"Caelum," Dr. Vega panics.

"Want him, want my mate," Caelum whispers hoarsely.

It's then that the door bursts open against the protest of many. Aerglo strides in and hurries to Caelum's side, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

"I'm here, evol ym," xe reassures.

Caelum reaches for xyr hand, squeezing it as he pushes.

Aerglo bites xyr lip. Xe knows xe broke tradition by entering the room, but Caelum needed xem.

"You can do it, love. You're so close to holding our baby," Aerglo praises, "you're so amazing."

With another push he feels the baby slide out. He's left panting and sweaty with teary eyes shut tightly in pain.

And they hear it.

A small wail breaking the tense silence of the room.

When Caelum looks up, he can just make up the sight of their baby being swaddled, little fists refusing to stay down as the baby curls up.

They're cold and angry and hungry.

Caelum, weak and pale, reaches for the baby. The first tear of many rolling down his flushed cheek.

They're so tiny, so perfect.

But something's not right.

"Aer," he calls hoarsely

Aerglo sits beside him, carefully taking the small bundle in xyr arms.

Xe admires the round little face, red and scrunched up.

Xe is about to tell Caelum how much xe loves him when xe notices Caelum's shallow breathing, a puddle of red slowly growing around him.

Aerglo panics as xe shakes Caelum.

Caelum can't keep his eyes focused, but Aerglo looks good with their baby in xyr arms.

"Stay with me," Aerglo says.

"'m tired," Caelum mumbles, "Want to sleep. I know you'll take care of our baby... I love you..."

"No!" Aerglo shouts, "Caelum!"

Dr. Vega immediately returns, wanting to help with the hemorrhage but not knowing where to start.

There's so much blood and the baby begins crying, wailing inconsolably as Aerglo watches in shock as xe loses xyr mate.
