My name's echoing in the whole stadium as I was about to strike the final ball of the Cricket tournament. I was the captain of the college cricket team and we were playing the match against the rival team. We have to win the match in order to reach the finals. I closed my eyes for a minute and took a deep breathe as I concentrated on the white ball that's flying in my direction. I swinged the bat with much force hitting the ball with all my might, the wood of the bat hitting the ball making a crackling sound was the only noise heard in the stadium as everyone's eyes were fixed on the ball watching it in silence. The next minute cheers erupted in the whole stadium as my team mates rushed towards me lifting me in the air giving me bumps.
"We made it!! " Ron shouted in the top of his voice.
"Woohoo... We reached the finals." Adrian danced in happiness.
"Congratulations boys, We made it. " Our coach Mr. Stephen congratulated us.
"Let's go and celebrate our victory." Jason announced.
"Okay guys, let's fresh up and get out of here." I said as I made my way towards the bathrooms to have a shower.
Ron, Jason and Adrian were my Friends and we play for college cricket team, together we used to practice cricket matches and participate in cricket tournaments. We four were a gang and were studying business in one of the prestigious colleges of England. We were college bad boys and used to enjoy life partying, we seldom attended our classes. Thank god my parents are cool about these stuff. They always thought we should enjoy our lives while we are still young.
I met my friends and teammates in the corridor and we were about to make our way to the college parking lot, when I heard a sharp voice piercing our ears.
"Evy baby... " Jessica shouted in her over enthusiastic voice as she came running in my direction, enveloping me in a hug.
"Congratulations, Evy baby. That was a wonderful sixer from you at the end to win the match. OMG, you looked so hot in that white cricket jersey of yours." Jessica continued her babble as she suffocated me with her hug.

"Thank You, Jes." I said smiling politely, as I wriggled out of her arms.
Jessica is my father's business partner and close knit Mr. James Serpens daughter. The Serpens' were our business partners, ever since our grandfather's started trading.
"Evan Baby, how about you and I hang out tonight." Jessica asked running her long fingers on my cheeks, twirling her golden blonde hair with her other hand.
"Sorry Jessica, got some plans tonight. We can go out some other time. Gotta go." I excused and walked away with my friends.
"Wow, man. You rejected to go out with college's queen bee! " Mason, our new teammate exclaimed.
"Man, girls are crazy about him." Jason replied smugly.
"He is rich and handsome, famous in the college, every girl dreams to date such a hot guy of the college." Adrian teased.
"Oh, shut up man. Not everyone is crazy about him. You guys must be blind. Do you think if you have money and fame, you can do anything." Lucas said, Lucas had been trying to become the Captain of the team but most of the members of our team were in my favour which made him build a grudge against me and which makes him grab every chance to insult.
"Hey, Girls want money and fame to show off. And Evan has all those qualities." Jason spoke.
"Yes, he can make any girl fall in love with his charm." Ron said in a confident tone.
"Okay, how about a bet. If Evander makes the girl I choose, fall in love with him then I will never compete for the Captain position." Lucas challenged.
"Who's the girl?" I asked accepting the dare.
"Look at that girl near library. You have to make her fall in love with you before our cricket finals." Lucas said pointing towards the library.
As I looked towards the direction, Lucas was pointing at, I found a girl wearing a long skirt, her dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail with few strands was falling on her face disturbing her. She wore thick black rimmed glasses and was shorter in height compared to other girls. She was walking out of the library carrying a bundle of books that she hugged to her chest as she walked through the corridors, she looked like a typical nerd. Some guys ran past her making her stumble and drop the books on the floor clumsily.

"Challenge accepted." I said and made my way towards her.
She was collecting her books squatting on the floor, when I reached near her, to help her gather the books.
"Hey, I think this is your book." I said giving her the book she dropped on the floor.
She looked at me for a second with her big doe eyes hidden behind those thick rimmed glasses.
"Thank You." She mumbled taking the book from me.
"My name is Evander." I said forwarding my hand for her to take.
"Okay." She said adjusting her glasses and hurriedly walked away without sparing a glance at me. Now that was something new to me, She was the first girl, who ignored me. She was different, different from all the other girls I had been with. She had that innocence that made her look beautiful from others. She has a beauty of her own, the beauty that everyone failed to notice.
The ringing of the alarm on my bedside table brought me back to the reality. The harsh reality, where I had lost the person, who loved me with her life and the person, whom I lost due to my stupidity. Its been eighteen months since I had last seen Violet. Eighteen months, my life had never been the same, everyday I have her close to me in my dreams, only to wake up to know that she was far away from me, somewhere where I failed to find her.
I reached the living room of my home where my parents were busy speaking with each other, lovingly. Their love for each other fascinates me, they had been married for 30 years and still they look at each other with the same love and adoration. Only if I didn't screw up everything that fateful day, I would have had the person, who looked at me like I am the only person in the world, with a love that can't be measured in her eyes, My Violet.
"Hey Mom, Dad. " I greeted walking towards them.
"Evan, we were talking about you." My mom, Elizabeth Arlette said in a excited tone, her tanned skin and bright brown eyes which reflected happiness made her look younger.
"What happened Mom? Why are you all smiles today? " I asked amused at her child like excitement.
"James called us today." My Dad, Braxton Arlette said speaking about James Serpens', Jessica's father.
"He asked us to fix the date for Jessica and yours wedding. As we thought it's time for you two to get married." My mom informed.
"Mom... " I said in a uninterested tone.
"Evan, you know right. You are betrothed to Jessica." My Dad reminded.
"But I don't want to marry her, she's not the one for me besides it's twenty first century for Pete's sake, I don't want a marriage of convenience." I protested.
"Evan, we wish we could let you choose a girl of your own but according to the will of your Grandfather. You have to marry the daughter of Serpens' in order to inherit the property. It was a promise your Grandfather made to Jessica's Grandfather. We are sorry, Son. We wish we could help you in this." My Dad said looking down.
"There should be some way, Dad. Some loop hole or something." I said running my hand through my hair.
"No, Evan. I had our Lawyer go through the will keenly but we didn't find anything that can break this arrangement. I am really sorry for this foolish decision that my father has made." My dad said with a guilt look.
"Dad, don't be sorry. May be my fate is supposed to be like that. When you are planning the wedding? "
"We are thinking to fix the date in next 15 days." My mom said.
"15 days! " I exclaimed, " It's so early."
"Yes, we know it's early but Serpens' wants this wedding to happen as soon as possible." My mom said.
"We planned for destination wedding in Paris."
"Okay. I have a meeting to attend." I said and I walked out of the house.
Violet, where are you? I wish I could have stopped you that day.
