Mateo

6 hours before meeting up with Emily...

"My dad will kill you!" Chan-Juan Bai Cheng grinds out, struggling with the rope, hoping to get free.

"Will he, now?" I say playfully, enjoying this way too much.

"How stupid are you, Mateo? Meeting with him at his bar? Do you want yourself killed?"

"No, I don't but he needs to think twice before he kills me" if her dad tries to kill me then she will be dead as well.

"Kevin, come with me" I order and open the door. We're standing in the Chins' bar parking lot, meeting them to discuss the little problem we have, AKA I want them to leave Emily alone and I want them to give Manhattan to me without any fight; let's hope it goes as easy as I planned.

"James, you come with me as well" he nods, and closes the door. I motion for 6 guards to protect this car, and making sure she can't escape. "I'll swear, if she gets free, I'll make your lives a living hell!" they nod, sweat coating their faces.

"We're ready, Boss" Kevin whispers to me and he checks his gun. Alright, there's no going back...

We enter the bar, with 'we' I mean myself, Kevin, James and 10 other guards just to be safe; I'm not that stupid to go all alone like they asked. The video we uploaded did its job, we got their attention. Now they mailed back if I could meet them in person so we can discuss this situation.

"Mateo El Ricci" the young man announce, getting everyone's attention. Their guards hold their guns up in my direction.

"Put those guns down!" an old man in the corner, well known as the Chins' Don, demands firmly and takes a last sip of his wine. The guards hesitate but luckily do what he said. "Well, this doesn't surprise me" he points at my guards.

"Do you really thought I would come alone?" I arch a brow, walking over to a booth in the middle and gesture for them to follow. "So, why did I get the honor of being invited here?" I ask stupidly, loving to mess with them. The old man sits down annoyed while the young man, his son, is looking bored.

"Mateo, don't play stupid with us, we both know why we wanted you here"

"Just like you know what I want" I reply back.

"Some whiskey?" the young man asks me but I shake my head.

"No offence but I don't want to get poisoned" I grin and he narrow his eyes.

"At least you have some sense in your brain left after the fight, how is your brother again?" my fist clenches at the mention of Celeb; I still feel guilty.

"He's doing fine, thank you-"

"-Enough! Can we please get to the point!" the old man demands, his face's red of irritation.

"Alright" I start, leaning forwards. "You know I have your beloved Princess-"

"-of course we do, idiot" the young man mumbles and I chuckle; enjoying this but also feeling the rage at the same time, weird.

"Well, I'm willingly to give her back" the old man leans closer as well, his full attention on me. "But in return I want you to leave my wife alone! No threats, no trying to kill her and no making her life a living hell!" I demand, my gaze like stone; even after the little fight I and Emily had, I still want her safe. I need to talk with her about leaving the penthouse. Where did she got the nerve to leave is these circumstances? Both man look at me confused.

"Sorry, Mateo" the young man begins. "I know we're enemies but we have a code for not threatening our enemies' family; you should know that if you see you broke it" it's true, I broke that code but just because I thought they broke it first.

"We have genuinely no idea what you're talking about" the old man response, his brow furrows. "Is someone really threatening your wife?" he asks, curious.

"That's what I'm asking you" I fire back. "Why are you interested anyways?" I sit back, letting out a sigh.

"Mostly because your enemies are also ours" the young man replies, motioning for a drink. "You too?" I nod; now I really need one as well.

"Why should I trust you?" I ask when the guard comes with a new bottle of whiskey and opens it in front of me; now at least I know I won't get drugged or something.

"You shouldn't" the young man says. "But it's not like you trust us either" he smirks, feeling proud of himself; I know him a little. He's Chan-Juan's big brother AKA the successor of the Bai Cheng Family. He's known for his smartness a quick thinking, something that is very rare in the Mafia community. I, myself, am someone who can think quickly as well but my weakness is that I'm too impulsive; I do before I think and that's a problem. That's why I have Sebastian and Enzo. Sebastian is known for his figuring out stuff; he's more a detective, while Enzo is sly like a fox. He thinks 20 steps ahead than mine 10 steps; it's crazy he's always prepared for anything.

"Someone is threatening my wife for a while; I though it were you because you're my biggest enemy but on your expressions it seems I have the wrong guys" I take a sit from the whiskey, enjoying the burn in my throat.

"That's a problem" the old man says, crossing his arms. Tell me what... "We aren't the enemy you think we are"

"I don't really know, this war is going on for 5 years, one of us needs to go which brings me to my next point" I grin. "Now that I know you aren't the stalker, I want something else in return"

"What now?" the young man asks, rolling his eyes at me.

"I give you Chan-Juan if you leave New York, giving me all your property and never come back" I propose but not that they can resist the offer.

"What if we don't agree?"

"Well..." I start. "Then she will be dead, so simple can it be"

"If she's dead, then you'll be dead too"

"I'm aware of that" I smile at them. "But things don't have to end badly" they both think for a moment and nod.

"You get your way, New York was just a small project anyways, give her to us and in the next 24 hours we leave without any difficulties" the old man replies, holding his hand out for me to shake but I eye it suspiciously; this is way too easy. "Don't worry, we don't lie. New York isn't as powerful as the little property we posses in China anyways. We just wanted to try and see if it could work but clearly not" he stops but soon speaks again. "I've heard stuff, now you're dad is retiring you take over Italy as well right?" I nod, confused. "It feels good to have this much power at a young age but please, remember you still have a life. You just got married and I heard that tings didn't worked out as good as you thought"

"None of your business" I reply, irritated.

"I know it's none of my business but don't make the same mistake your dad did with all of you El Ricci's" that got me thinking. "Now you're married I guess children will come soon; do you want your child to grow up like you did without a dad?" I don't response. "And on top of that you got a wife to take care of. How many time did you made time for her other than sex?" I still don't say a word. "Maybe you should think about giving up a little of your power..." I take his hand and shake it, tired of his bullshit.

"She's in the car! We will leave and then you can go pick her up" I stand up, getting out f the room but turn around for one last time. "I think you all know Noah?" they nod, disgusting coating their faces. "I'll handle him" and I leave them alone, hoping to never see them again...

Emily

Now...

"What I want?" he pretends to think. "I want you to be honest with me" my brows furrow, confused. What does he means by that?

"What do you want me to say?" I ask, my heart beating faster and faster by the second.

"Like I said, I want honestly! I don't ask something now but just in the future when I asks you something, I want you to be honest" and he leaves the room.

Should I do it or not? I'm pacing the room, thinking if stealing the file now is a good idea. This is so ironic; now that we had a talk about honestly I'm the one breaking the rule... but I really want to get out of this life as soon as possible. I need to divorce Mateo, get the company and that should do it for me and the baby. The baby...I'm still not sure if I should tell him or not; I know he will freak out and probably kill me or something. I shake my head, he would, right? Ugh! The door to the office opens. Nice, Mateo is getting some drink from the kitchen and that should give me 5 minutes to steal it. My heart is rising, my stomach doing a double flip but I manage to hold it in; now or never! I open the door carefully and spot that Mateo's office door is wide open; what luck did I have? This is perfect, too perfect. I take a deep breath and tiptoe to the office, glancing inside and find it indeed empty. Now I got 3 minute and 30 seconds. Wasting no time I quickly look behind the painting but find nothing then I go to the desk, papers everywhere; it must be in the safe where my papers also are. What was the code again? 23-06. *BEEP* *BEEP* Yes! The safe opens but when I look inside its empty-

"-Looking for this?" a voice in the doorway asks, startling me. I let out a small yelp when I see Mateo; shit. "Well, well, Emily, what are you doing in my office!?" he asks me angrily, a evil expression on his red face; oh god...please have mercy with me...
