- Heather's POV
"Momma... I need you to wake up. I love you!"
I try forcing my eyes open hearing the distress in my lil man's voice. Am I still in the car? Is he okay? What about George and Leo?? Come on Heather- WAKE UP! I begin focusing again but to no avail. I allow myself to succumb to the darkness once again.
"Sweetheart... I need you. I can't live without you. Please wake up love."
Xavier? How did he get here? Can I wake up? I once again try focusing on something smaller. I focus enough to feel my fingers move. All of sudden, I feel a vice grip on my hand. The sparks shooting up my arm.
"Sweetheart, can you hear me?"
I squeeze once again and hear a hearty chuckle between sobs. I hear Xavier holler at a nurse before I feel him grip my hand rubbing his fingers across my knuckles. I try moving my arm some and I feel my muscles twitch. Once again hearing a happy laugh. I feel his hand leave mine making my hand cold. I feel someone else with cold fingers taking my hand checking my wrist.
"Mr. Sanford, she is waking up."
A voice I don't recognize says. I begin groaning feeling immense pain. Xavier's hand finding mine again making my muscles relax. I begin trying once again to open my eyes. I blink rapidly finally being able to open my eyes. I close them quickly at the brightness. Someone dims the light allowing me to open my eyes slowly again. My vision is blurry to begin with so I blink a few more times finally being able to see clearly. Xavier's face hovering over mine looking worriedly.
"Xavier"
One word and his face relaxes and chuckles while tears leak down his cheeks. I slowly reach my arm up just now noticing all the iv's in my arm. I wipe away the tears as Xavier leans his head into my palm. He brings his head down to mine kissing my forehead tenderly. I close my eyes and hum in content.
"God sweetheart, you had me so worried."
I nod my head not trusting my voice for a moment. I lean forward gently pressing my lips to his. He smiles into the kiss pressing more firmly allowing me to lay back against the pillow. I wince feeling a sudden pain rush through my forehead. I close my eyes and my hand going up to rub my temples. In a flash everything runs through my mind. My eyes fly open looking frantically at Xavier who is look at me concerned.

"Luca?" My hoarse voice croaks out. Xavier nods and chuckles.
"He is perfectly fine... all because of you." He kisses my forehead once again refusing to lose contact with me. "George and Leo are also okay. Leo has a broken leg but otherwise okay."
I nod my head relax back against the pillow. I then move my hands over my stomach when I notice something. My eyes open looking down when I feel my heart rate increase. I lift the blanket looking at my flat stomach. I begin crying not being able to form words. Xavier is quick to react cupping my cheeks making me look at him.
"Sweetheart, our babies are fine." My eyes shoot open in surprise and he continues. "You went into labor due to the accident. They had to do emergency surgery but they are okay."
I cry loudly letting the tears fall down rapidly. Xavier kissing the top of my head.
"Where?" My voice once again to dry to finish.
"They are in the NICU. As soon as you are stable we can see them."
I pull Xavier to me as he wraps his arms around me as I cry. My emotions running freely. I am upset, worried, and happy. I can't decide what my body feels other than relief. Xavier continues to hold me firmly to his frame while I allow my emotions out. His touch soothing me. I begin feeling my eyelids get heavy again as I fight to stay awake.
"Xavier, Don't leave..." I trail off as I feel my head begin sagging. Xavier notices laying my body back against the pillow. His hold still enveloping me as he moves my hair out of my face kissing all over my face.
"I'm not going anywhere love. Rest."
-Xavier's POV
I continue staring at her as she rest. Her face has a massive purple bruise near her temple running into her hair. Her arms having iv's in them with multiple scratches covered in bandages. Her body not been bathed for 3 days now and yet she is still the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She is safe. Luca is safe. The babies... safe.

I sigh while trying to not move to much in this bed. It barely fits both of our frames and I have a bar in my back but having her in my arms is far more relaxing than anything I have felt for the last few days. The moment she squeezed my hand after the doctor telling me it would be up to her when she chose to wake up. I almost throttled that doctor for telling me he had no clue when. My voice, she heard my voice and chose to wake up to see me.
I still remember the relief that flooded through me when she began squeezing my hand. Her hypnotic eyes trying to focus on me and then her voice. The voice I have been praying to hear for 3 days now. I couldn't help constantly touching her. Her first question asking about Luca. God she is incredible. I could see the turmoil flood through her when she looked at her stomach. I quickly corrected her seeing her emotions over run her.
Our babies...
Our son born 5 lbs 10 oz and 18 inches long. Our daughter 5 lbs and 4 oz being 18 1/2 inches long. Both small however healthy and currently under observation. Both babies born with my dark hair. I couldn't believe it, seeing them for the first time and holding them. I remember the tears that leaked out being happy and sad in that moment. Happy they are okay, sad that I couldn't share the moment with my sweetheart.
My thoughts are cut off by my love stirring in my arms. I reach over grabbing her a glass of water off the night stand. She leans her head up as I guide the cup to her mouth as she takes small sips before resting her head back. I place the cup to the side cupping her cheek in my palm gently turning her tired eyes to me. She smiles slightly wincing as she touches her tender sides. I continue rubbing my thumb over her cheek as her eyes lock with mine.
"Angel, you scared me." I whisper out before connecting my lips to hers tenderly. She kisses me back placing her palm on my cheek.
"I love you Xavier." She says her voice sounding groggily. "How long I have been out?"
"3 days." I see her eyes widen in surprise as I nod my head in confirmation. "Our son and daughter were born 2 days ago." I see her eyes begin getting teary. "You protected our children love, all three are perfectly fine. and you... you are going to be okay."
"I want to see them Xavier." I press the nurse call button. A young woman coming into the room looking wide-eyed at me on the bed with her.
"We need to have our babies moved to our room now."
"Of course Mr. Sanford. Give me just a few minutes." She briskly makes her way out as my attention returns back to Heather his winces holding her forehead again. I look towards the bruise praying she won't feel pain for too much longer. Her fingers begin feeling around her forehead until she hits the bruise where she winces loudly. Her eyes looking at me questionably. I just give her an forced smile kissing near the bruise.
We hear the door open making our eyes turn to the sound. One large cubicle is pushed in slowly holding both our son and daughter. I help Heather's bed sit up more so she can see. The nurses bringing the babies slowly to us. They don't remove them from the box since they are still unstable. Heather places her hand on the plastic case looking inside at our babies. I see her smile grow from ear to ear as happy tears come to her eyes. I place my hand on top of hers through the case.
"Those are our babies, love."
She nods her head leaning over kissing the clear case.
"Our babies." She whispers still staring at the case in awe.
