- Heather's POV
3 weeks later
"Luca, we need to be leaving soon." I holler up the stairs walking back into the kitchen getting a glass of water. I take a big gulp and a deep breath. Tessa walks over rubbing my back affectionately. I give her a weak smile trying to find my energy. I haven't been feeling well in the last few days.
After our dinner with my family. My father had decided that he would be opening up a branch here. They have been looking for a house in the last week. My father has decided that the position for CEO was still open if I wanted it. I politely declined telling him that my heart was still with the students and I was happy. Christopher has decided to take over in my place which I was proud of. He is going to be staying in New York while my parents retire here in California.
"Momma, I am ready!" I turn around and nod my head at Luca. I give Tessa a hug while she hands me a bottle of water. I thank her and turn back to Luca whose hand is out stretched ready for me. I take it and we walk out to the car. Xavier had to head in early for work today. Living with him and Luca was much easier than I initially thought. Other than a few nights of Luca wanting to sleep with us, we haven't had any troubles.
I begin holding my head while the car pulls up to the school. My head feeling light. I look back at Luca who searches my eyes looking worried. I kiss his forehead trying to reassure him. He steps out and I take his hand. The school and other students have since learned that I am his mother and other than a concern from the principle about teaching my own son, we haven't had any issues.

"Miss Drake, are you okay?" Xavier driver comes around the car looking at me skeptically. I nod my head and begin walking. I don't make it more than a few feet before my body begins feeling like bricks. My knees giving out and my vision goes black.
-Xavier's POV
"Sir, you have a phone call." My assistant rings through my intercom. I buzz him back.
"I have a meeting in 5 minutes. Who is it?" I say still signing the papers in front of me.
"It's Leo sir."
I look at phone picking it up immediately.
"Sanford"
Sir, Miss Heather has fainted and is on her way to St. Jules hospital.
I drop my pen and go still. I don't think I heard him correctly.
"What?" I ask with a trembling voice.
I just received a call from your driver. She fainted outside the school. He said he was taking her directly to the hospital.
I hang up and grab my jacket. I don't waste any time strolling out of the office. I tell my assistant to cancel all my meetings. He nods his head and doesn't ask any questions due to the state I am in. I make it down to the lobby where workers greet me. I don't spare anytime getting to my car not giving a glance at any of them.
I arrive at the hospital in record time walking the familiar halls once again. This time when the familiar receptionist spots me her eyes go wide in fear. I walk up and ask her where Heather is at which she directs me to. Upon arriving to her room, I see Luca sitting with a nurse. He sees me and he automatically sprints to me running directly into my arms. I hug him tightly and walk over to Heather. Her angelic face looking pale. She is asleep. Her hair is all over her face which I gently brush out of her face. The nurse clears her throat as my driver walks back in with a glass of water for Luca. I thank him and relieve him for the day.

"Ah, you must be Mr. Sanford." I turn around with Luca still in my arms looking towards the door. A young male doctor standing there with a clip board. I nod my head once at him. He walks in and stands at the end of her bed. He checks the vitals before directing me to take a seat. I pull up a chair sitting directly next to her bed.
"What happened?" I ask looking at him intently.
"She fainted from lack of nutrition and exhaustion." I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion. She hasn't been sleeping well? "It's perfectly normal-"
"I'm sorry but it is normal?!?" I say raising my voice slightly. Luca holds my neck tightly while I glare at the doctor. He gulps but continues.
"It's perfectly normal to be extra tired due to her condition." I stand up continuing to glare at the doctor.
"What condition?!" I spit out the word with disgust.
"She's pregnant." I feel my heart stop beating. The breath being knocked out of my lungs. She's pregnant? Oh. My. God. We never used protection but I didn't think anything of it. I flop down in the chair still holding Luca. She is having our child. I look to her face wondering how she will react to this. I then look at her stomach placing my hand on it. "She should wake up in the next few hours. I will prescribe some prenatal vitamins and pills for the nausea which should also help her sleep."
I nod my head still not being able to form words. I reach over grabbing her hand bringing it to my lips. Luca pulls back looking at me questionably.
"Dad, is momma okay?" I once again nod not being able to find my tongue. He looks over to Heather's face with worry still laced in his eyes. I clear my throat and finally speak.
"She's okay son, she is just tired." He nods his head and leans back against me.
I request to take her home which they allow. She still hasn't woken up when we arrive home. I gather her in my arms walking her upstairs. Leo helping open all the doors along the way. His concern clear as day as well. I nod at him as he closes the door to my room. I crawl in the bed beside her looking onto her again. I kiss her forehead as I rest my hand on her stomach gently stroking it with my thumb.
My baby...
I can't help but smile as I feel my own tears leak out. It was amazing to hold my son but the experience of the pregnancy was not something I could enjoy with him. I am hoping Heather will be happy. God, I love this woman.

The Mentor
This one is for my daughter. She talked me into it (again) and it is her favorite genre of books. So, Bet, this one is for you. The true-bloods, the masters, they came first. That was hammered into Heath's head since he could walk with both words and fists by Karen. As a guardian and half-blood bastard of his vampire father, he would never know peace. His duty as a dhampir, his duty was clear, his fate sealed. Heath was to serve Gerald, an aging Vampire Lord, one who was of pure blood, born to the race, until Heath outlived his prime and then he would pass on the knowledge that was passed to him onto a new bastard to carry protecting the bloodline. But was it necessarily his fate? Could a sterile half breed such as himself, someone who did not exist in the human world, live anywhere in the world on the light? After a particularly nasty encounter with his Mentor, Heath is on the run. Set on not becoming the new guardian and knowing that decision has now marked him for death. The hunt is on and somewhere behind him is Joshua, the heir of his Master, and the thing that plagues his nightmare, his Mentor Karen.
