-Heather's POV
"Babe, I've missed you." I look up to see the dark eyes that I fear most.
"Michael." I say barely above a whisper while I sit up breathing erratically. He begins stalking towards me like a wolf about to pounce on it's prey. He's hidden under a hood however those eyes. I will never forget those eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here for my fiance. You can't run away from me love." He states tilting his head and grinning smugly. I shiver at the term of endearment.
"I am not your fiance and not your love." I state more confidently then what I am feeling.
"You are mine." He states pulling out my gun from behind his back. I begin staring down the barrel. "I will not let you escape me."
"Michael just-"
BANG!
I shoot up out of bed and look around frantically realizing it is barely morning. My body is covered in sweat and my breathing is labored. I can feel my hands shaking vigorously.
"H, what's wrong?" Cami says running towards me with her gun in her hand. I didn't realize I was screaming in my sleep. "H, focus on me."
I look at her and try to match my breathing with hers however I can't seem to catch it. I begin seeing black dots in my vision before darkness consumes me.
-Xavier's POV
"I will be in the office in an hour. Move any appointments til then." I state to my assistant before disconnecting the call not waiting for a response. We are currently pulling up to the school. I have been waiting to see my Angel and I wasn't going to wait any longer. Luca is twiddling his fingers and looking around the school parking lot. The moment we pull up, he sprints out the door not waiting for me. I sigh getting out of the car and walking to his class. I get to the door before I see Luca speaking to a gentlemen and shaking his head. My son's head drops and he walks in.

"Good Morning Mr. Sanford, how may I help you?" The gentlemen ask me. I side step him and walk into the classroom however she isn't in here. I look around to confirm and realize I am correct. I look back towards the gentlemen at the door.
"Where is Ms. Drake?" He gulps and drops his head.
"Um, I apologize sir but she was not able to come in today. She-"
"Why!" I demand stepping closer to the man who instantly steps back in fear.
"Her friend called and said she had health issues and would return-"
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN HEALTH ISSUES!" I yell at the man who is now trembling.
"Mr. Sanford, I apologize... I don't know anything pass that." He says shaking his head negatively.
"I need her address NOW." I grit out trying to sound calm however feeling anything but.
"We are not allowed-"
"Either give it to me NOW or I will have you fired. Choice is yours."
I watch as he scurries off to the office. I look back into the room to see my son with his head hung low sitting at his seat. My heart clenches realizing how upset he is. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I have to figure out what is wrong with her. Where is she? I look back up to see the man from earlier running towards me with a piece of paper in his hand. I rip it out of his hands and see her address written on it. I smirk and walk into the the classroom. I walk up to Luca and kneel down beside him.
"Son, I am going to go get your Angel. If you are good, I will get her to come over to the house tonight...okay?"

He looks up at me and begins nodding his head. I kiss him gently on the forehead before walking away. I'm coming sweetheart...
I drive quickly to the address written on the paper. It's a decent looking and placed right off the beach. It has a Mediterranean style to it. Not huge but not small either. I wonder if she lives here alone?
I walk up to the door and knock on the door. I hear some shuffling on the back in of the door. The door swings open abruptly with a gun being pointed at me. I raise my hands in a surrender abruptly.
"Woah, there's no need for that." I state trying to calm down the crazy woman in front of me. I automatically recognize her from the photos on Theo's phone.
"What are you doing here?" She asks narrowing her eyes at me and still holding the gun tightly.
"My name is Xavier Sanford, I am a friend to Heather. I just-"
"I know who you are- what are you doing here?" She says lowering the gun and holstering it in her back.
"I came here to check on Heather, she wasn't at school today." I say lowering my hands. She opens the door and gestures for me to come in which I do. The house is very cozy and reminds me of a family home.
"She isn't doing well, she had a panic attack this morning and has been asleep since." I turn around and look at her the moment she said panic attack.
"What caused it?" I ask concerned. The woman looks at me trying to read me.
"That is not my place to tell Mr. Sanford, If she wants you to know... She will tell you." She walks up the stairs and I follow behind her. She gets to a door and holds on to the door handle before turning towards me. "I know who you are Mr. Sanford, I also know about Luca and your girlfriend." She says grinding her teeth on the word girlfriend. "Regardless of how I feel, you hurt her and I guarantee you- no one will ever find your body... Am I clear?" She says watching me.
I nod my head at her as she pushes open the door. I walk in while she closes the door behind me. There on a bed in the middle of the room is my Angel curled in the blankets. I walk over to her slowly and sit down on the edge of the bed near her. I run the back of my finger down her to cheek to her neck while her eyes flutter open slightly. She begins focusing on me.
"Xavier?" She whispers questionably before setting up and wrapping her arms around my neck tightly. I then wind my arm around her tiny waist pulling her chest to mine. She wraps her legs around my waist while I rub my fingers up and down soothing her.
"I'm here sweetheart." I whisper into her ear while she relaxes in my arms. I feel her breathing even out. I lay us both down in her bed however she continues to cling onto me. I envelope her body into mine enjoying the felling of her body pressed into mine. Her smell invading my senses. I inhale deeply and feel my own my slightly relax having her exactly where I want her... in my arms.
"You are safe."

He woke up one day, only to be greeted by a floating panel of light. [Name: ... Marcus][Race: ... Human][Class: ... ... ...] [Hero] [Welcome to the System] What is a village-born Hero to do, but answer his calling? Current schedule: No chapters for the next few months. I'm still writing the entirety of Volume 2. WARNINGS:-Yes, this contains LitRPG elements after a slow start, promise.-This work is incredibly Slice-of-Life heavy-Also conversation heavy-Also plot heavy (But not in that way, unfortunately)-The pacing in terms of plot is slow -(Edit after a review)- This story is also known as: I honestly don't understand what's the difference between "light" and "dark" stories. I realized that far too late, so this story is... weird. It might be light at times, and dark at times, and in all honesty, definitely has dark undertones. Oh, and prepare to be disappointed or pleased by this story; I understand that this story is polarizing, at least. Cover made by: Fei (@Chippy03966650) / Twitter

How The Weak Live
This was a rough draft. Quite a meh one. The newer version is These Games of Ours. ---------- Lucious is deserter among many, living by dagger and beggary. Argento’s thirst for knowledge is endless, as is his belly. Kora is the perfect soldier, yet her sword grows dull in monotony. Formally known as the Empire's legend, the Captain is now stuck in stagnation. The Gods, grown weary of human deeds, have decided to indulge themselves in a different way. -------------- THE 7 REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF Clichés shall be avoided like the cancerous tumors they are. The world shall not spread its pink butt cheeks for the main character’s convenience. No character shall be thinner than one slice of white American cheese. No female character shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main character is. No villain shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main characters are. Grammar laws shall be upheld sometimes. I, the author, swear not to be a prick. I, the author, swear not to go away without warning. If other LitRPGs are like Skyrim, then this is going to be a combination of Dark Souls and Total War. Don't expect action for the sake of action. Be warned, this is a slow novel. Read the reviews to see if this novel is a decent fit for you. Disclaimer: I do not own that gorgeous cover art.
