“Yuuma!” the middle-aged woman screamed out and Xiao Yuuma, Qin Se and Feng, all looked at her. “You don’t seriously believe Qin Se?! Do you?!”
“I do believe him,” Xiao Yuuma said with a calm voice and closed her eyes.
The middle-aged woman’s eyes widened from shock and she took three steps back as she said, “Wh—what?” Then, she snapped her head to Feng and waved her right hand as she screamed out, “I don’t believe that you are the son of my husband and I never will!”
Qin Se harrumphed. “Whether you believe it or not, doesn’t matter. He is the only son of Xiao Fang and the future master of the Xiao family.”
“He is not the only son!” the middle-aged woman screamed out and glared at Qin Se.
Xiao Yuuma opened her eyes and looked at her mother. “But he is.”
Qin Se nodded his head in agreement. “Young lady is right. Young master Xiao Zhao is dead and that makes young master Xiao Feng, Xiao Fang’s only son.”
“He is not my husband’s son!” the middle-aged woman screamed out. “And nothing you can do can prove that he is!”
“Test my martial talent then,” Feng said. “If it’s lower than my sister’s and my brother’s, then I am not Xiao Fang’s son. But if it’s equal or higher than my sister’s or my brother’s, then I am his son.” The middle-aged woman, Qin Se and Xiao Yuuma, all looked at him.
Qin Se furrowed his eyebrows. The middle-aged woman narrowed her eyes. And Xiao Yuuma smiled before saying, “I have the testing stone of martial talent right here.” She waved her hand and round colourless stone appeared in it. “Place your right hand on the stone and after ten seconds remove it. Its colour will change depending on your martial talent. If it turns white, then your talent is of F-rank. If it turns yellow, then your talent is of E-rank. If it turns blue, then your talent is of D-rank. If it turns green, then your talent is of C-rank. If it turns red, then your talent is of B-rank. If it turns black, then your talent is of A-rank. When I tested my martial talent, I got the colour black and when my brother – Xiao Zhao tested his, he got the colour green.” She extended the colourless stone towards Feng.

The middle-aged woman glanced at Qin Se. And seeing his furrowed eyebrows, she smiled. “Go on. Show us your martial talent.”
Feng nodded his head and placed his right hand on the colourless stone. And after ten seconds, he removed it. They all looked at the colourless stone and under their eyes, its colour changed. It turned white.
“F-rank!” the middle-aged woman said in a loud voice and started loudly laughing. Qin Se closed his eyes. Xiao Yuuma and Feng kept looking at the stone and under their eyes, its colour changed again. It turned yellow and then blue and then green.
“Why is it green?!” the middle-aged woman screamed out. “Why is his martial talent the same as my son’s?!”
Qin Se opened his eyes and they started shining in a brilliant light.
“This is not the end,” Xiao Yuuma said and under everyone’s eyes, the green stone changed colours again. It turned red and then immediately after that – black. Black, the colour which represented the highest possible martial talent. An A-rank martial talent.
Qin Se widely smiled.
“Impossible,” the middle-aged woman slowly said with a clear expression of disbelief on her face. “His martial talent is higher than my son’s and the same as my daughter’s.” But just as her last world left her mouth, cracks started appearing on the martial talent testing stone and it shattered into many pieces.
The middle-aged woman, Qin Se and Xiao Yuuma all widened their eyes and opened their mouths from shock and looked at Feng. He was smiling from ear to ear and giggling.
“Maybe he really is the son of Xiao Fang,” the middle-aged woman mumbled under her nose and said, “From this day forth, you are my son. You are the son of Xi Huiliang and Xiao Fang. You are Xiao Feng.”

Xiao Yuuma looked at her mother and shook her head. Qin Se did the same.
Feng covered his right fist with the palm of his left hand and bowed his head before saying, “Son meets mother.”
Xi Huiliang smiled. “How old are you, Feng’er?”
“I am five years old,” Xiao Feng said. “But in just a few months, I will be six years old and I will be able to become a cultivator.”
“Why wait?” Xi Huiliang said and looked at Xiao Yuuma. “Take him to the treasury and let him use the jade slip.”
Qin Se nodded his head in agreement.
“I was going to even if you hadn’t said anything,” Xiao Yuuma said. “Let’s go, Feng’er.”
“Okay, big sister Yuuma,” Xiao Feng said and followed Xiao Yuuma up the stairs, through the door and into the corridor.
“I see that you haven’t cultivated using the cultivation technique that I imparted upon you,” Xiao Yuuma said.
“I should have?” Xiao Feng said.
“No,” Xiao Yuuma said as she shook her head. They walked through a door and entered another corridor. “Don’t cultivate using that technique. Nuli is a cultivation technique that allows you to absorb world Qi from your surroundings just like any low-level cultivation technique. But unlike those cultivation techniques or any cultivation techniques for that matter, it doesn’t allow your to use that absorbed Qi. Meaning that no matter how much of world Qi you absorbed with Nuli, you would have never even reached the first realm of the body refinement realm. I was planning to let you absorb world Qi for a few years and then take it for my own. But since you are my brother, I won’t do it.”
“And I was planning to kill you. But since you are my sister, I won’t do it,” Xiao Feng said and they walked through another door, entering yet another corridor. They walked down it and reached a double door.
“We have arrived,” Xiao Yuuma said and opened the double door.

This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting.
