《-The World Saga-》Chapter 8: Savior

Lupa hasn’t seen the man yet but I can already tell this is the man causing the monsters to attack the town. He has this crazy look about him. He isn’t wearing any shoes and his robe looks black. I can’t tell if it is naturally black. I look between him and Lupa trying to get her to turn around. Lupa turns around and looks like she is ready to attack him. The old man uses a stick that he is holding and points it toward us. Lupa backs up still in a protective matter. I try to stand up using the wall to help me. The pain in arm causes me to wince as I accidently slip hitting a rope. The rope is connected a sign above the bar. The rope snaps as the first of the monsters slowly come around the old man. The old man looks up as the sign falls landing straight on him. One by one the monsters drop, and the sky slowly goes back to normal. I stare completely shocked at how dumb my luck is.
Lupa stands slowly out of her protective stance. She looks at me still looking like she wants to kill me. I stand up from my slip and I can tell that she has noticed the blood now. She eyes the wound on my arm and the blood on my shirt. Her hair slowly loses the crimson color as she utters a warning to me. “If you don’t leave the town and head to Crag’s Keep now, you and every other person in the world die. Betray me again and you will die mortal.”
“What do you mean mortal and what’s Crag’s Keep?” I say angry at the fact she is bossing me around. She blinks a couple of times as she goes back to looking like her old self. She sees my wounds and looks like she is about to cry. She rushes to me and tries to examine my wounds. I keep away from her. “Answer my questions.”

“What questions?” She tries again to examine me. I am caught off guard on what is going on here. She seems like a completely different person when she is in that other form. My wound on my arm starts to burn slightly. I give in to let her take care of me. She quickly makes a bandage from Nicolas’s clothing and puts it around my arm. “We need to clean the wound tonight… I.. am sorry that I couldn’t protect you..”
She slowly starts crying while she is tending to me. I start to feel bad about trying to turn her in. She does seem to really care about me for some unknown reason. I have to find out what’s going on with everything she said before. She must be trying to trick me or something. How could I save the world? I am worthless. I sigh and pat her on the shoulder trying to get her to stop crying.
“I am fine.. Lupa. Really.” I try to say with some confidence. She mutters something underneath her breath. “What was that?”
“.. Nothing.” She finishes tending to me and helps me up. We walk out of the alley to see what is going on. Many people are either celebrating that the old man is died or crying for the love ones lost. A few soldiers are going around making sure that the monsters stay died.
“Lupa. We need to leave now.” I look inside the bar and notice that it is empty. I get an idea and grab Lupa’s hand. I drag her inside and sure enough no one is even in the place. “Lupa. Go gather anything you think we need. Any of the food and supplies behind the counter. Please go.” I can tell Lupa pauses at the please because she smiles slightly. She nods starting to grab all the things we might need. I find a couple of bags that are near the door that would be good for carrying the supplies. I look around the bar one more time for anything that we would need. Most of the tables are overturned, and anything of value is really gone. I head over to Lupa and we pack what she found. She found a couple of days’ worth of food. “Good job Lupa.” She smiles big at that.

“Thank you.. Bruce is out back. So, we can leave whenever..” Before she can finish a few guards stumble into the bar.
“Halt, Stop looting… Wait. It’s that girl from the barracks. So, that must be…” I throw a bottle of alcohol at the soldiers districting them. I grab Lupa’s hand and head out the back of the bar. Bruce is just where Lupa said he was. We climb onto Bruce just as the guards burst through the door. We take off out of the town. While riding through the streets, I hear people say that they saw me kill mage. Cheers went through the town as we ride out of it. I feel something deep inside me. Pride? Happiness? I have no idea.

# The Gemstone of Ominium 2 - Pain
Her unfazed expression didn’t even waver when the blade of her thin sword pierced one of the men all the way through armor, flesh and bone, a gurgling sound bubbling from his throat. With a kick she mercilessly pushed him back, freeing her blade, and glanced down at his dead body sprawled at her feet, confirming that death had indeed taken him. Stepping over the dead man’s body as if it were a mere pebble on her path, she raised her head just in time to see her second attacker lunge at her and, nimbly turning on her heels, she slit his throat. A spray of hot, sticky blood hit her left cheek and slid down her neck, but she didn’t even blink. The scent of the fresh blood filled her nostrils and her brain like an inebriating drug and she stepped forward once again, lightly turning to one side to avoid being decapitated and quickly returning the favor. One by one the men kept falling as she advanced, victims of her lethal, almost mechanical movements, as if she’d been born with a sword in hand and ready to kill …* This is a direct continuation of Book 1 - Denial. You CANNOT start reading Book 2 without reading Book 1, since the story won't make any sense! Enjoy ^_^*
