Mirik's POV-
"Will you give up now? " I asked 99 as he struggled to stand. His right hand too had become useless. The cheering crowd had also calmed down. Everyone was looking at two broken contestants trying to win a fight. Many people in the crowd now realized their mistake. It was because of them that 99 had pushed himself even after his leg broke. But among the crowd, there was someone who shouted when everybody was silent.
"It's enough Alec. You have done enough. " A voice of a girl resounded. Everyone turned their head in the direction of the voice including me.
A girl not older than me standing in her place with tears in her eyes, her hands folded praying to God.... Or maybe 99 to stop this fight. She kept looking towards 99 looking for an answer. 99 stood and looked at me with an embarrassing smile.
"Sorry about that. You know how girls can be... " He said with a light chuckle.
"Shut up Alec. Please you have done enough. Now nobody will question our relationship..... You are strong... " The girl said as her voice cracked towards the end. She started sobbing and the whole crowd looked shook. Everybody turned to 99 and waited for his reply.
"No. How can I even face your family when I can't even win? What if someone tried to do something to you and I had to protect you? Do you think anything less than winning would matter there? " 99 shouted as the whole crowd gasped.
"Are you stupid or something? Who are you trying to impress? What good will it do to us if you are not even alive?..... This is just your ego. " The girl said making 99 angry. I was shocked too. This just didn't apply to him, I was the same. What if I die in this pursuit of revenge? Is this worth it?

The girl was looking at me with hate in her eyes. I used to think that people hated me because I was better than them. But slowly I was understanding that I was the one who did something to make them hate me. I lowered my head in shame but even after this, I had to win the fight.
"Don't worry about her. Let's just end this fight in the next move. " 99 said as he got ready. I nodded towards him and took a stance with my baton.
99 got down and touched the stage. I realized too late what he was trying to do. The stage started to shrink as the whole stadium rumbled. Even the other fighters stopped their fights to look toward our stage as it captured everyone's attention.
I kept my balance as the stage was shrinking at a very fast rate and we both were getting close to each other. The referee was trying his best to keep his distance from us.
"This is it. One attack to seal my victory. Sorry, bro. I have to win this. " 99 exclaimed as he again used the same technique where he extended his crutch to propel himself. But he was forgetting one thing from the start...... I too had a spirit.
The crutch slipped as some unknown substance, something slippery came under it. I had summoned my spirit long ago and placed it in his shadows for quite a while now. I was looking for an opportunity to use it and now he had given me the perfect opportunity.
99 started falling as he faced the ground, completely open to any attacks. I closed the distance between us with some quick steps and brought my baton down with a swing aiming for his head.
