Mirik's POV-
I was waiting for this moment when I would finally get how his spirit was changing the size of things. First of all his spirit was nowhere to be seen. This was not possible as you wouldn't be able to use your spirit's power until it was summoned. For all this time I was thinking about where the spirit might be.
Was it so small that it was impossible to look at with naked eyes? Maybe.
Or it was there but it could go invisible? Probably not.
That means one thing... It is here and I can definitely see it. I just have to find it. I got plummeted till now to find the spirit and now I had finally seen it. It was always along with him. His left glove.
Every time he needed to change the size of anything he would touch it with his left hand. It was just a light touch but it happened every time from changing my staff to making the crutch. He was hiding this fact beautifully as he was swinging his claw. He made it look like he was supporting his right hand with his left when he attacked as the claw became big and heavy. But the real purpose was to use his spirit on it.
I got angry with myself as it took me a long to find his secret. But then I calmed myself down and remembered that to progress I had to keep my ego in check. I was not a God who would have found out about his glove in just one exchange. I did alright..... But alright is not enough.
I closed the distance between me and him. He was a bit surprised by my sudden movement. He tried attacking me with his claw but I easily blocked his attack. There was no weight behind his attacks as he was on a crutch.

I used my small staff to stab his stomach but he caught the attack midair with his other hand. I tried kicking his crutch to make him lose his balance. But he saw my attack and quickly changed the staff to its normal size and used the force of it to get away from me.
Finally, my staff was back to normal. I changes it into a baton as I got ready to finish this fight. I again closed the distance between us with a sprint. As I was a few meters away from him he suddenly used his spirit to increase the size of his crutch. He used the propulsion to gain momentum as he used his knee to attack me.
He came towards me with enough force that even when I used my hand to block it, I could feel my forearm breaking. But to his dismay I also had countered him with my baton and hit him square on his right shoulder and dislocated it, probably breaking his collar bone too.
The impact sent us both flying away a few meters. My left hand had become useless as it was writhing in pain. I tried to lift my arm but it felt like I would do more damage by doing so. I looked at 99 on the other side as he also grabbed his shoulder with his breathing becoming erratic.
I got up and looked at him with a sinister smile.

Natural Alchemist
Will is poor. This is a fact he does not like about himself. Even back at his home village he was considered poor, but poor in the big city means something completely different than poor in a small village... It means ten hour days of hard manual labor with barely enough money to survive, and poor living conditions. He's sick of it, and desperate for change. Perhaps that was what made him decide to spend such a large portion of his savings on a mysterious potion from that beggar... That, and it seemed so special when he held it. But ever since that day, he's been having the strangest dreams... And the work is really starting to take a toll on his body... Author's Note: I wasn't sure which mature content warnings I should put on this novel, as I'm pretty much pantsing the story. I'm putting them there mostly as a percaution, but also to not limit myself as to where the story can go. This is my first time writing and publishing anything substantial. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The Five Series - redemption
Book 1 - Redemption Three generations have passed since the last near-apocalyptic war. Civilization is beginning to thrive again at an ever increasing pace. The burden of society has been once again placed on the back of a massive robotic workforce, creating a huge divide between industrial glory, and those forced to live in its shadow. Many have stubbornly held onto the old ways of self-governance from back when the government fell, but with its return, life in Welan City is changing. Aaron, a middle-aged man, who is stuck in the rut of daily life, witnesses a murder and finds himself in trouble, love, and the middle of a highly secretive robotics project. Aaron stakes his life on helping a prototype survive, and pays for it dearly. Passionate hate, love, and indifference send life in Welan City spiraling out of control, leaving no one innocent in the end. The Five Series is, well, a series. I've completed 3 of the books so far and will finish with a fourth, maybe fifth book. Book 1 is heavy on the character development side while the following will be much more decision and consequence oriented. This story reaches into the soul of a person and the universe we live in. Some people deserve a second chance, and some do not. With that im mind, no one really ever gets what they deserve though, do they? Always tell the people you care about that you love them as often as you can, they could be gone tomorrow. Would that change if you could always bring them back? I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it. Cody
