《52 stories》Week 26: Waiting

I've been staring at my computer for way too long. I already shook my mouse three time to turn off the screen saver. That damn black screen that shows me my own reflection. Showing me how desperate I am. I stare at the screen in vain for something to happen. Something to pop up. Anything! But then again, this black screen appears to make fun of me. I put my head in my hands, trying to stop my legs from bouncing out of nervousness. I can't sit still anymore. I need to stand up. So I do, I leave this damned chair and go to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I look at the time and only notice now how late it is. So that's why I'm hungry. Better make something for dinner, maybe it will distract myself from the wait.
As I'm waiting for my water to boil, I feel like the wait is finally over. I rush back to my computer and look at the screen... But nothing... I let out a loud and exasperated growl and then jump at the sound of water overflowing the pot. Great. Amazing. Awesome. Not only do I still have to wait, now I have a mess to clean! I turn the heat down and throw the pasta in the pot and the home made spaghetti sauce in the microwave to unfreeze it. I then get some garlic bread ready with some pieces of bread and garlic butter that I have frozen in the freezer. Atleast I will have a great dinner, maybe it will make the wait less.. horrible, a bit easier.
A few hours later, I am still staring blankly at my computer screen and I hear the front door open ''Hiii!'' my lover says has they step inside ''Smell good in here... Oh, still nothing?''

I only mumble some kind of inaudible answer, so they keep going ''Atleast you made an amazing dinner. Oh great garlic toast! My favorite!''
''It's bread! With garlic! So it's garlic bread! It never said that the bread have to be fancy!''
They only laugh and gives me a small kiss before getting ready to eat too. Once they are done, they sit on the couch and starts to scroll randomly on their phone. I go to sit beside them only to fall head first on their laps ''I hate waiting!''
''I'm sure you will be fine! It always get better after a while.''
''But it's been three days already! It has never been that long before!''
We stay like a for a bit in a comfortable silence. After a while they try their best to help me change my mind, but I always go back to the computer... Waiting, hoping, scrolling through Facebook...
It's getting late and I'm tired. I turn off my computer, giving up for tonight, and I slowly walk to the bedroom. I hide under the covers and let my mind wander for a bit, waiting for the sleep to wrap its arms around me. And as I'm about to fall asleep, I open my eyes wide, jump out of bed and run to my computer. My lover look at me with this confused look ''I thought you were going to bed?''
''I don't want to forget!'' I waited for three whole days for the inspiration to strike me and it finally came! I am not taking the chance to forget about it in the morning. I type in a rush all thei deas that I finally have, I will sort everything out tomorrow morning. Once I am done, I feel my body giving up on me and I fall back into my chair ''yay! 'night.'' and I drag myself back to bed as best as I can, knowing that I can sleep in peace now that my inspiration is back and that I can write again!

They choose to pretend that the unknown variable is lesser, that humanity is superior on no other grounds than that it's humanity. That all changed with one group of heroes, and one family of Bats.Cover doesn't belong to me.Cross-published on two other sites*Undergoing heavy editing, nothing plot-wise is changing, I am only editing grammar, mechanics, vocabulary, sentence variation, and formatting and overall I am just making it a more pleasant and refined read :) I am also deleting the A/Ns at the beginning and end of each chapter
