《52 stories》Week 9: What is going on?

''I...don't think it's a really good idea...'' Jade tells me for the hundreth time atleast in the last five minutes ''Again, you can alway go to our next class! You don't have to come with me if you don't want to!'' After a few seconds of hesitation, she shakes her head and decides to skip the next class with me. I really didn't feel like going to this one, with this weird teacher always asking ''ethical''questions about a tree falling in the forest and if it would make any sound or something. It was so boring!
So as usual when we want to hide and leave the school without getting caught, we go in one of the many changing rooms of the school. More specifically, the one with two separate doors to exit the room. I was never really good at school, you could say that I'm the student that cause the most troubles. And to be honest, I never really cared. Even more now that I am in a completly different country. I used to live in Canada with my mother, but for some unknown reason, she made us move all the way to Long Island. So now the only thing I care about is my friend Jade. She is the only reason why I don't skip all my classes. I don't want her to get in trouble since she always wants to come with me... But, like I said, today I just couldn't sit in this boring teacher's class.
We finally manage to leave the school ground and find a hiding spot in a back alley not to far from the school. It's one of my favorite spot to hide. It's a really calm place, the sun always finds it's way all the way down here and there is an old dart board on one of the wall. I am getting really good at this game. Even more now that my friend explained me that the middle wasn't where you could score the most point! This girl is so smart, sometimes I wonder why she spends her time with a teen like me! Jade sits on a bid cardboard box and plays a random song on her harmonica while I shoot my darts on the board. All three of them in the triple ring of the twenty section. I am getting better at shooting exactly where I want it to be! My next goal is to be able to actually count my points... I never really understood how to do it. Jade will have to explain them to me all over again. But not today.
I'm about to shoot my last dart but someone behind us shout out something, making me miss. I suck up my breath as I hear my dart hitting the wall instead of the board. That is not good for the tip of the dart. I turn around to check who interupted my play. It's two really big and tall and muscular men. I roll my eyes in annoyance. Men. What do they want again? Trouble I guess by the way they look at us. I'm about to say something witty, but Jade grabs my arm and whisper ''We... need to go, now!'' I can see how scared she is. I look back the men, I mean yeah they are big and all, but still, we got in bigger problems before. I shrug my shoulders and starts to walk toward the exit of the hallway, right behind the dudes, but she stops me ''No... not that way!'' ''Girl, that's the only way out!'' I can see her anxiety rising up. they are getting close rby the seconds. I sigh and look around, trying to find another way out. We then hear a door opening. It's the back door of this small restaurant, someone is throwing the garbage out. I grab my friend and starts to walk towards the door, reaching for it before it closes back up. I let myself in, dragging Jade behind me. the worker starts to scream at us, but I don't care, I walk my way out of the kitchen and all the way to the front of the restaurant. We reach the street and Jade starts to run as fast as she can while still holding my hand.

After what seems to be an eternity, she finally stops. We both take some time to catch our breath ''Call your mother, now!'' ''Geez, Jady, what is it with all those orders?'' ''Cassandra, I'm serious! Those guys are... She needs to pick us up!'' Now I know this is some serious things happening. She never calls me by my full name unless we are in deep trouble! We look around to find a phone booth. Yes a booth. My mother never wanted me to have a cellphone because it was ''to dangerous'' for me to have one. I love my mom, she understands that I don't like school and support me with everything I do, but something she can be... Old fashionned? I get in this old and dirty booth and give my mom a call ''Hi~Can you pick us up, pleeeease?'' ''You finished school early?'' Silence from my side of the call. I hear her sigh and after a few seconds of silence ''Where are you?'' We explain the best we can where we are. And she finds us quite fast actually. She is really good at this. We step in the small blue car while thanking her. We are about to go and... Here they are. Right in front of us at the other end of the street. The two big dudes. How did they find us? Jade screams out when she sees them, they smile widely with this weird smug expression. My mom looks at them with wide eyes, stunned in place. I shake her out and she jumps on the gaz and rush out of the street, I don't know how she managed to not hit those guys, because they were running toward us, but she did. We drives for a bit, not really knowing where to go ''Those guys....Did... did they... look like bears?'' my mom asks. Bears? What is she talking about. Jade seems to agree, reach for the front and whisper something in my mom's ear. I think I heard something like ''camp''? but I'm not sure. My mom agree with her and ask Jade to lead the way.
Jade gives my mom directions as I sit in the back, arms crossed. I asked them what was going on, but the only thing they were telling me was''not now'' or something like that. I look out the window and ''Uhh... I think we are in trouble!'' Here they are again. They throw something at us, not quite sure what it was but my mom didn't manage to dodge it. She looses control of the car and we crash on the side of the road. Jade push the door open with her feet. How did she do that this easily? ''RUN! We are not that far!'' ''Wha..'' But my mom grabs me and pull me out of the car and we starts running in the forrest. We run and hide behind a fallen tree to catch our breath and check if the guys are still after us. Jade is whispering something like if she is asking for help or something. That's weird, because we are definitly alone here! I turn to the other side to see my mom and she is not doing well. She is grabbing her hair with both of her hands, almost ripping her hair off. She is mumbling that she should remember something important. Like a word or something that could help us ''Mom, are you okay?'' But she doesn't have time to answer. We hear a big cracking sound , branches breaking and a tree falls right beside us, making us three scream out in terror. We stand back up and starts running again. I take a mental note to tell my teacher that yes trees make noise when they fall! and I risk a small look back. Did they just push a tree until it broke down on us? What was going on. Jade then screams out ''See what they did to your sister? Now help us, please!'' Who is she talking to? I look back to them, I can see that they are struggling with roots and branches that I swear wasn't there a second ago. Weird, but hey atleast we are distancing them!

''Almost...there..'' Jade tells us and I can see some kind of opening in front of us? I can see other people too and we all speed up to reach them. Just before we pass them I can hear my friend trying to stop my mom ''Mary, wait, you can't...'' My mom and I both fall behind the people in orange shirts, exhausted. I look behind me and I see the two guys stops right in their track, looking at what is behind me and they both run away. Like they were scared of something? I look at where they were looking and I see... Flying horses? What? I look at my friend and she looks really confused too, but not for the same reason as me ''How did your mother managed to get through the border? She is mortal, she is not supposed to be able to do that!'' What? I look back at my mom and she is on the ground, grabbing her head with both her hands and she is in an incredible amount of pain ''MOM!'' I rush to her as this blonde guy kneel besides her. ''Mom, what is going on? Mom!?'' She slightly open her eyes and look at me and the guy beside me but closes them again and scream out in pain ''Go get Apollo, now!'' The blondie says to one of the orange shirt person ''Apollo? Like the god?'' I asks a little amused. He doesn't bother to answer me and keep looking at my mother. He seems a bit unconfortable for some reason. My mom finally seems to calm down a bit ''W... Will?'' The guy beside me jumps back a bit ''You...remember... me?'' Should I know this guy? How does my mom knows him? This Will then stands up and shout ''DON'T BRING HIM HERE! NOT NOW!'' ''And why shouldn't I come, son? I thought you needed help with...Oh...'' I'm not quite sure how to describe the man that just talked beside than... Godly? He looks at me with a really shy smile and wave at me. A small burst of light seems to shine above me, I look up and see this weird shape floating above my head. Everyone look in awe as if it meant something important. I look at Jade and she seems to tell me something along ''not now.'' Urggh I'm tired of not understanding what was happening. My mom then stands back up, perfectly fine appently and just stares at the man that gave me that little wave. She as that mother look. You know, the look when you know you are in trouble. Well looks like the man knew he was in trouble because he started to back up, arms in front of him in a defensive way.
My mom really calmly walks to him, say some kind of weird word and he suddenly falls on his back. I can see him struggling to stand back up, but it looks like some kind of force is pushing him down ''Please.. I'm sorry... I didn't want to but they forced me and...''My mom stand right above him, shuting him up. I can see how tensed and stressed everyone is. I mean I know my mother can be scary from time to time but right now... I barely recognize her... This cold blooded anger is radiating out of her. What did this man do to her? She looks at him and say ''This is how you protect us!?'' And then punch him the face so hard, I can see blood bursting out of his nose. Well actually no, not blood, but gold paint? What? ''Can someone explain to me what is going on here!?'' I shout out. My mom looks back at me and I can see her expression softening a bit. She let go of the poor guy on the floor and walks back to me ''You're right. Let's talk. Come.'' And she leads us to this blue house, Jade is silently following us, not really sure if she can come too or not. I raise my hand and do grabby hands for her to take and my mom doesn't seem to mind so we all follow her and we sit on the stairs in front of the house ''Where do I begin?'' she says while looking at me ''From the beginning maybe?'' My mom let out this small laugh and shake her head''That's the thing... I don't really know what the beginning is!''
''Well what about you tell me what the light thingy was above my head and those two dudes that were like, trying to kill us?'' ''I guess I can... I will need your help for that part, Jade.'' My friend nods and they starts to tell me the craziest story ever! With gods and monsters and stuffs...
