《The Fisher King》I. The Man of Chaos
Advertisement
There was once a man who was ignorant of death. He would challenge death everyday without a thought or care of others. The people feared him because wherever he went, he caused nothing but chaos and destruction. Whenever and wherever death and destruction reined he would come out unscathed.
He was soon known throughout the seven lands as The Child of Chaos. Everyone saw him as a cursed child because wherever he went brought death and destruction. He was always alone because of this, but that didn't bother him. In fact, it was said that he didn't care if people liked him or not. His power was sought out for corruption. Wealthy nobles saw his power as a way to obtain land of other lesser nobles. While kings saw it as a way to take out rival kingdoms and claim them for their own.
Oblivious and ignorant to what was going on, the man accepted those requests as he saw them as challenging. If there was danger, he would go. The more requests he completed, the more he got bored. Taking down kingdoms was as easy as sneaking into a house, assassinating nobility was like swatting flies, and fighting armies was like taking out mosquitoes. The more completed, the more unsatisfied he became with himself.
He decided to increase the price of his work as he felt that it would lead to more dangerous and exciting requests. Though he cared not for the money, he cared for the challenge. As time progressed he received a request to conquer the unkillable dragon called "The Crimson Bones of Death", who resided in Dezmorz. Interested in the request he set off to slay The Crimson Bones of Death. It took him three days and three nights. On the fourth day he finally arrived at Dezmorz.

Dezmorz was in ruins. The proud walls that separated the city from the outside were crumbling, and huge sections of the wall were missing. Inside the city wasn't much better. It was littered throughout with craters or on fire. Some houses weren't completely destroyed, but the sound of them crumbling slowly could be heard echoing along with the wall.
The streets were stained red with blood and corpses. The smell of smoke and burning meat filled the air as pieces of corpses laid on the street. The smoke of the fire was a dark thick cloud that covered the sky like a rainy day. The embers and ash fell like rain, setting anything it touched to flames. The fire glistened like a river of tears, flooding everything in its path with a mix of orange and red. The farther he went in, the thicker the smoke grew. The stench of burning also got stronger near the source. He knew he was close because the fire turned from an orange-yellow to bright blue, the devil was near.
He was overwhelmed with excitement that he might possibly die. He couldn't imagine a greater death. While the blue fire would scare most away, he went right by it. Though it smelt bad, he has smelt worse. After passing through the intense heat of the blue flames for about a mile or two, he came across a little girl off in the distance laying in the blue fire.
