Working from home “indefinitely” sounded good right up until I realized that I can’t actually leave my apartment.

I need furniture, but all of the shops around here are closed for the foreseeable future. I’ll have to try ordering stuff online and hope that shit fits because the girl does not own a tape measure.

I’ve been thinking about the kind of things I’d like to get - the government is sending out checks to aid people who aren’t receiving income at the moment (I am, thankfully, not one of them), and Mom offered to buy me kitchen stuff or some kind of furniture as an early birthday gift to help me settle in.

A desk would be nice - working from my bed was fun until I discovered the importance of lumbar support and maintaining good posture.

I want an armchair and maybe a loveseat too, not that I expect to have a lot of visitors (most of my friends are scattered around the country or overseas). If I searched for second-hand shops and aimed for pieces that look a bit more traditional, I might be able to achieve something vaguely elegant - or as “elegant” as we can get with laminate countertops and five-year-old builder’s grade carpeting.

..I shouldn’t be so ungrateful. Really, I was lucky to get a place on such short notice (and that would also allow me keep all three of my cats). I’m just needlessly critical of everything right now because I can’t be happy.

I can make this work. And if I can’t, then I’ll wait until this pandemic bullshit subsides and find something else - ideally in a different zip code.
