Morning glories start the day

like I want to start the day:

dressed in bright colors

and ready to sing.

I don't start the day that way.

But just as God made

the morning glories to start strong

and the sunflowers to turn to the light

and even flowers that bloom at night

I trust that my tentative rising

and usual failure to shine

also has a purpose.
