《Road》Chapter 8

After the talk about the Light Imbuer Class, we have slain all of the skeletons but that wasn't enough to push me to Tier 2. When we were about to 'escape' the dungeon Jade asked an odd question. "Gidget." I looked at her. "What happens when you 'escape' without your summon?"
“Good question. Are you okay for your sword to stay inside the dungeon with my summon?”
She shook her head. "That's not a problem. We will come back here anyway. Even if something were to happen to your skeleton, we can find the sword when we do. I nodded to her and let Tori behind after renewing its orders. Then I got out of the dungeon.
While returning, I thought about something. "Jade."
"Hm?" She looked at me.
"Is there a book about monsters?"
She nodded. "I know one but I didn't buy yet it since it is a bit expensive."
I nodded. "How expensive? Do you think I have enough to buy it myself?"
She looked up for a while then turned to me. "Yes. I believe you can. Do you want to buy it now?"
"Yes. If it's not a problem for you." I said and looked at her expectantly.
She smiled and shook her head. "Not at all. You would let me take a peek too right?"
I chuckled. "Of course. But I am first."
She chuckled too. "Okay." She said and changed directions. We reached in front of a big stone building in a few minutes. The sign above the door said 'Analisa's Books'. Jade went in first, I followed her inside. When I was inside, I couldn't believe my eyes. There were books everywhere. Bookshelves on the walls were full of books and there were bookshelves standing even in the middle.
"Wow. Isn't this a bit too much?"
"You can never have enough books." I looked towards the voice. "Welcome to my shop. I am Analisa. How can I help you?"
I was about to tell her what we wanted but Jade beat me to it. "We are looking for a monster encyclopedia.”

Analisa nodded. "I have that in stock. But you should know that it's a bit expensive like most books about monsters and classes."
Jade nodded. “I know. I came here before to ask about it but I only remember that it was too expensive for me then.”
Analisa nodded again and made her way towards a bookshelf. She looked around it a bit and took out a big book. She then waved it towards us for a second and came before us. “This is it. It's 1 Big Silver.”
Hearing this I whistled. 'That's most of my money. Should I give up?' I shook my head. 'No.' "I will buy it." I said and took out the silver and gave it to her. When she gave me the book I nearly dropped it but fortunately, I managed to put it in my inventory before it fell. "That's heavy. What did they make this from that it is this heavy?"
Analisa smiled. "Cover made from a monster hide and papers made from a Treant. Tell me, young man, what is your class? You should be a mage since you couldn't lift the book."
I nodded. "It's Booster."
Analisa looked surprised. “Booster? That's a good choice. Sadly one of the most underrated classes. Good for you.” I nodded and smiled. “Is there anything else you want?”
I was about to say no when I remembered something. “Do you have a book about Tier 1 classes?”
Analisa nodded. “Yes I have it but its 1 small gold. I doubt you have that much.”
I shook my head. “No, I don't. I just wanted to know.”
Jade took it from there. “We will be going then. Have a nice day.”
Analisa smiled. "You too." And we were out. We headed to the inn instead of the Adventurers Guild since we already shared the stones and decided we don't need the money yet.
When we were inside the inn, we saw Elan and Lakeesha sitting on a table and talking. We made our way to them. They noticed us when we were close and I waved at them. Elan smiled. “How did the hunt go?”

We sat on the table and Jade answered. “I got two levels and” She gestured me.
Understanding her intention, I talked. "I got five levels. I am only two levels away from my second class."
Elan looked intrigued. “You sound like you decided what you want to pick. Am I right?”
I nodded. “I intend to take Light Imbuer for my second class. It should give me some more options when fighting. Increase in Int is good too.”
Elan nodded. “It might be useful with your build but there might be better classes. I suggest you think a bit more.”
I shook my head. “There is no need to think. It's the perfect class for me. I needed Int and capability to do more damage and this class will give me both.”
Elan nodded thoughtfully. “Okay. If you say so. I will still tell you if I remember a better class for you though.”
I smiled. “That would be appreciated thank you.”
Elan smiled back. “Anything for our booster.”
Then I heard a scraping sound. I looked away from Elan to the source of the voice. It was Wan. He nodded to us. “It seems you came back. How did it go?”
Jade ran her hand on her hair. "It was good. So, what is the news?"
Wan shook his head. "Nothing good. There is a new bandit group that terrorizes villages. I heard they kill every villager they catch. The total number that died to them until now is more than a hundred. They suspect Empire's Hand on it."
Everybody looked at him blankly. I cleared my throat. “If you don't mind my asking. What is Empire's connection to the attacks?”
Wan shook his head again. “There is no evidence but everybody knows how much Empire hates elves. So even if they are not directly connected to razed villages, they are at least connected in some way, that's for sure.”
I nodded then Jade asked. “How do you think the Kingdom Alliance will respond to this?”
Wan sighed. “They probably will stop importing goods from the Empire. That means we will have to get by with monster meat for a while. Enough of the bad news." He turned to me. "What will you do now? Will you get back to the dungeon?"
I shook my head and took out the encyclopedia from my inventory and with a thud, put it on the table. “I will read this rest of the day. There probably won't be any skeleton for today anyway.”
Elan got closer to me. “What book is that?”
Jade answered instead of me. "It's a monster encyclopedia. He bought it today."
Elan nodded her head and got even closer. She was close enough that our shoulders touched. I looked at Jade for help but she just smiled and shrugged. Shaking my head, I opened the book. The first thing I did was to count how many pages a monster takes and then looking at the last page's number. After checking these I concluded that there were 1134 monsters in the book. And on the last page, it was noted that there were still lots of unique monsters people failed to catalog.
Seeing this number, I couldn't help but whistle. “There is a lot.” 'Let's say they are all Tier 2. That makes 2268 Vit and Int and double amount of Soul.' A hand to my shoulder took me out of my musings.
I looked at the owner of the hand and saw Lakeesha. She smirked at me and said, "You should wipe your mouth, you wouldn't want your book to get wet." I looked at her dumbly for a second, which made her smirk widen. Then I understood her meaning and wiped my mouth. 'Well, it's natural to be drooling in front of this much stats.' I shook my head and continued reading.

Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
