《Road》Chapter 1

I am Gidget. I am 16 and am a high school student. In my free time, I watch anime and read manga and light novels. While I have good scores and known as a nerd, I don't care much about school. While I was going like this, on that fateful day, everything changed. Sadly, I am not talking about a fateful encounter with my other half, no. I am talking about a fellow student, pretty much male, with a machine rifle. I was right in front of the door when he came in running you know, so I didn't have any chance.
He yelled. "THIS IS FOR MY SON!" And pushed the trigger. I was too shocked by the weapon's appearance to do anything, so I was peppered with bullets. I didn't even have time to look down at my body or even feel the pain since I lost consciousness in a second. Just like that, I died.
After a while, I gained consciousness and found myself in a void. Everywhere, as long as the eye can see was black. I tried to move but I couldn't. Tried to talk, but that wasn't possible. All I could do was to think, but I got bored as soon as I started, so that was not good too. Then I started trying to sleep. After a while that felt like forever, I heard a voice. "What are you doing?"
'How am I going to answer? I can't even make a sound.'
Voice chuckled. “I can read your thoughts so you can just think about your answer.”
'Okay. I was trying to sleep since it was so boring here.'
“Do you know what happens when you sleep here?” Voice asked softly.
'I don't know.' I answered.
“You die!” Voice screamed and started laughing for some reason.
'What an odd person.'
Even though I don't see this person I knew they felt wronged. “You should stay alive a few millenniums and see what it does to your character. Enough chat. I am here to send you to a world.”
'Will I revive? Why?'
“You won't revive. You will merely continue your life in a different world.” I nod mentally. “You have two choices to make. First, do you want to be born to a family or do you want to start as an adult?”
'I don't want to be a baby again. I might even forget who I was. No. I want to start as an adult.'
“Good. Now you can pick an ability for yourself. What would you like to be able to do?”
'I don't know. Can you tell me about the world I will go?'
"Well. There are three races. Humans, Elves, and Half-Elves. There is a system, meaning you will have levels in addition to the ability you pick. There are wars among Kingdoms of course. What else... Yeah. There are dungeons and lots of monsters."
'Can I pick any kind of ability?'
“No. Use your common sense. And before you ask, you can't get an ability making ability.”
'Okay. I was just going to ask a different ability.'

“Okay. Tell me.”
'I want an ability that let me use the monsters I defeated as allies. That will let me fuse different monsters to get stronger monsters and let me store my monsters in different mediums.'
“That's an odd ability but obviously very useful. Okay, I can give you that.”
'Thanks.'
“So where do you want to start?” The voice asked.
'I don't know. Maybe somewhere with no racism and close to monsters would be good.'
“Done. Here you go.”
Then I lost consciousness.
***
"Ha!" I woke to a scream. I looked around and saw myself in the woods. "Heya!" I heard it again and slowly made my way there. When I reached what I assumed as the source of the voice, I saw a woman, fighting a wolf-like monster. She had long, straight golden hair, eyes like a jade with a sturdy and tall body. Then I remembered about the talk with the Voice. I started to slowly get closer to her. Wolf seemed like it will fall at any moment so I wasn't afraid. I waited for a few seconds and the wolf fell to the woman's blade. She turned to me. "Who are you?"
I smiled at her. “I am Gidget. What about you?”
She came closer to me and said “I am Jade. What are you doing here without a weapon? Are you a mage?”
I shook my head. “I am lost. Do you know which way is the city?”
She nodded instead of answering and after a while, she said "I know where the city is. That city is a Half-Elf city. Are you okay with that?" I nodded. She continued. "Good. Follow me." She then started to walk and I followed.
While walking, I started to ask the things I need to know about the world. And most important of all. “Jade, I don't have any money. How can I make some?”
She stopped walking. “It depends on your class.” She showed the muscles on her arm to me. They were impressive. “If you are a warrior like me, you slay monsters for their core. If you are A crafter, you craft things, all cooped up in a room.” She shook her head “I don't understand their kind.” She turned to me. “What is your class?”
“I don't know?”
She looked confused. “How? Look at your status.”
'Now if I say I don't know how to open it she might suspect I am from a different world. So I should first try..' “Status”

I looked at the Status Screen carefully. After reading everything, I shook my head. “I don't have a class.”
She looked surprised. She looked at my eyes and said “You are not messing with me, are you?” I shook my head. She continued “Which stone did you live under all this time? Everyone I know picked their classes at the age of 7. There were a few of them that held it until at most 10 but even those were a minority. How old are you?”

“16.”
She whistled. “You are a patient person aren't you?”
I shook my head and said. “I don't know how to pick my class. Can you tell me?”
She came closer. “Are you sure? Did no one thought you?”
“No. I didn't even know about Status Screen.”
She took a deep breath and said “If you want to pick a class, you should know about it. So you can't pick unless you find someone to teach you some classes.”
I swallowed my saliva. I said “Could you tell me about some? I don't have any money and no skill to make money whatsoever. So I need help.”
She nodded thoughtfully. “I can tell you about generic Warrior class. What do you think?”
'I don't need to fight, my monsters will do it. What I need is either a healer, which might not enable me to heal monsters or..'
I first look at her carefully thinking if I should ask but knowing I don't have many options I decided to do it. "Do you know any class that can improve other peoples stats and make them stronger?"
She looked at me surprised. “There is one, but no one wants it since its a Soul Class and is very fragile. Are you sure you want it?”
'That's odd.' “Can't they strengthen themselves too?”
She nodded slowly and said. “They can. But since their base stats are low, they can't strengthen themselves much.”
I nodded. "It's okay. If you could tell me about it, I would like to pick that class."
She just nodded and started talking. “The class you want is called Booster. It's a Tier1 class. They can boost people and if they want, monsters to make them stronger. They have the [Basic Perk] Strong Soul which doubles their soul and by doing that, all their regen. Their starting spell is Empower, which increases strength a little for a long time. Whenever a boosted person kills something, a small part of the Exp go to the Booster.” She paused. “I think this is enough.”
I nodded and opened my Status Screen. I focused on the Class and a screen popped up.

'Ninja! Sigh. Now I wish I picked some speed ability, oh well.' I quickly choose Booster and a bright light came to be above me and completely engulfed all my body. After its over, I looked at my Status Screen again.

Strong Soul
I focused on Boost Strength and a screen popped up.
BOOST STRENGTH
Increases the Strength of the target by (Soul)/5% for (Soul)*10 Seconds
Cost: 25MP
Seeing this I couldn't help but whistle. 'Percentage buffs always get OP in time.'
I looked at Jade, who was watching me. I nodded to her and said "It's done. I picked the Booster and got the Boost Strength Skill. There are things I need to know if you don't mind answering."
Jade nodded once and gestured me to follow. I started walking with her. She then said, "What do you want to know?"
“How many stat points I get when I level up?”
“You will get 2 points to Soul.”
“They directly go to Soul?!”
She looked at me seriously. “I told you it was a Soul Class. What did you expect? Don't blame me now.”
I shook my head. "It's okay, I was just surprised. When you said that, I expected the class to improve with Soul, I thought stats will be distributable. Just that I have to put most of the points in Soul."
She shook her head and continued to walk. After a while, she said "There is only one class with distributable stat points and that's useless. Only some rich civilians take it to improve their life span without fighting."
I said "Okay. How long it's left for us to reach the City?"
She answered. “Not much, only a few minutes.” While she was talking, I saw a slime. I touched her shoulder. She stopped and asked. “What happened?”
“Can I gain money from slimes?”
She nodded and looked at the slime. “Not much. They only have one petty mana stone that worths 5 small coppers.”
I shrugged. "It's still better than nothing." She nodded and I made my way to the slime. I picked a fallen branch from the ground and after I am close enough, started to poke the slime with it. Whenever I poked it, it lost a little mass and got closer to me. Like this, I slew the slime while turning around it. I found the mana stone and showed it to Jade, who nodded. I put it in my pocket and looked at the screens.
Defeated Slime Level 1

Monster Breeder Skill Activated
You can now summon Slime Level 1
Monster Breeder Skill Activated
You caught a new Tier 1 monster. Vit and Int increased by 1
Enlightened Perk Activated
Soul increased by 2
Seeing the second screen, I couldn't help but smile, and the last two screens... I nearly dislocated my jaw. I quickly focused on Enlightened Perk to see its description.
Enlightened Perk
Increases Soul By 50%
Whenever an attribute other than Soul increase, Soul increases an amount equal to it.
The Enlightened Perk's effect means even if I were to take a non-Soul Class I would still have a high amount of Soul. “Well, you can't have everything.” Then I walked beside Jade and we continued towards the City.

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.

I wanted to witness what I read about, the fantastical [Secret Stache] of a [Treasure Hunter] or a [Pickpocket] using [Deft Hands]. These were natural occurrences above, but alas, I was below. And this deep down, I'd see my first horror before seeing any mere monster. Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet.
