《The Traveler's Adventures》Notes: Elven Greatwood

Contrasting to the great hold of Cragholdt of the dwarves, the elves have several great communities that inhabit grand forests, Each of the main forests contain a main type of tree that naturally grow faster and stronger in the area the forest inhabits, and in each forest’s heart lies a Mother tree. A Mother tree is a huge specimen of the trees that live in the forest, and is known to be why these forests tend to have a uniform tree species, or in special cases several specieses. The reason and ability of these Mother Trees being able to control and create these forests have not been able to be discerned by those not of the elven high councils, the closest confidants of the Mother Trees.
Each Greatwood, the official term of a forest that sprouted due to a Mother Tree, are inhabited by many magical beasts that seem to evolve into the new environment rapidly, seemingly helped along by the forest’s magic. While a great place to gather and hunt for higher tier resources, the elves that inhabit these areas are fiercely territorial, and only allow nature-attuned or forest folk (although other elves that originate from the Greatwood are free to travel it’s paths) to gather, and have been known to even kill people who don’t follow this universal rule of the Greatwood.
One of the most known myths, especially on the southern part of the continent, is about the dark elves, or Daeben, that inhabit the barren wasteland south of the Dragon Nest mountains. It was written that before there was a wasteland, a vaste Greatwood of some of the largest trees in the world, in which some of the normal trees can reach heights of up to several hundred feet. The elves that lived there were rather friendly, and had good relations with the dwarves to their north, which every now and then they would send trading caravans to sell off stuff during times of peace. This Greatwood though, attracted the attention of one of the greatest dragons that lived up in the mountains, and with age starting to get to them, he wanted to gain the power of the Greatwood for himself, and went down and with his horde of dragons burnt down the entire Greatwood to ash, and took the power of the Mother Tree for himself. Ever since the Greatwood was burnt down, the elves that used to live their turned twisted, as the only survivors were those who were able to flee to the underground passages. Living underground, away from their Greatwood and living in the dark, turned these upstanding elves into blood thirsty killers that have become casters of dark arts and are willing to use any means. Soon, these Daeben started attacking the dwarves through the deep tunnels, and eventually became a sworn enemy of dwarves.

Anyways, for the most part, Elven Greatwoods are, like the dwarven settlements, closed off from most non-elves except for those who are like them, attuned to nature and the ways of the forest. Each Greatwood is controlled by a Mother Tree that has power of the forest, and grows as the forest expands. The animals that live in the forest are usually magical, as are the plants and sometimes people as well. Each Greatwood are for the most part, different from each other but there are several times where Greatwoods have chosen the same tree species.

Celeste Academy
The boundary between Valemnia and Earth has been breached by demons. Although knights who go by the name Celestes have managed to take things back under their control, demons who escaped to Earth have to be hunted down. When fate decided to turn at the wrong time, seventeen-year-old Valeriana Kerrigan ended up in the clutches of a demon she escaped from at a price—her choice. Her unfortunate involvement served as wind in her sail to leave neutral waters, hence, she reluctantly steps into the chaotic shores of a different world where the only way to leave and live is to enter and learn to fight. Even so, Valemnia’s problem with demons may take more than just learning how to wield a sword and getting along with its element-bending locals. To keep the boundaries strong between her world and the other, Valeriana would have to learn how to let go of her humanity. Literally. But is this world worth losing it for?
8 102Of Life and Light
Home. By definition, such a word means "A place where one lives", but what happens when one is removed from their home by those with greater authority? One would seek out another place to live, of course. Karastak, a Devil King and a Fallen God of a world called Terra, was removed from his world by something greater than himself, and has journeyed to the world of Azzarath by way of Azazel, God King of the Azzarathean Pantheon. Perhaps she performed thusly through pity, charity, or a simple act of kindness with no strings attached. Regardless, he is deposited near a village upon a mountainous range within the world. There, he meets up with his Human family, a grizzled old Templar, a shy Cleric, and an apathetic Mage, that came to take him away from his troubles, but he does not budge. That is, until one of his servants speaks of finding a new home. However, perhaps instead of finding a home, he finds adventure instead? The story within is a Frame Story, which means it is a story within another story. In that this one is being told by three personages, a God King called the Ageless, a Lich King called Brutus, and a Goddess named Sarah. Each of them speaks of the Ageless's past self, one called Karastak, as he journeys onwards throughout the worlds within the Azzarathean Pantheon in search of something more. Special thanks to Ms. Brown from http://www.offbeatworlds.com/ for the cover.

I would love it if you could leave a review, no matter how horrible, that could help me do better in my writing. The beginning chapters are a bit slow, but if you can get past that, there is a chance you'll love it. Happy Reading.

She was a piece of Heaven he wanted to own.And he, was the flames of Hell she wanted to tame."You must be tired." The unparalleled face softens with an indulging smile, and I nod hastily like a chick pecking at grains. My reason, wisdom, and rationality became words of a foreign tongue when the fingers tangled amongst my hair trail down to my cheekbones, the caresses like the fine strokes of a paint brush that gave colour to my skin."But next time."His eyes of hellfire narrows, reflecting the features of a iolite-eyed mortal, and crimson lips pull back over sharp canines.
