La carta en el piso tenía un color amarillento y estaba en perfectas condiciones, por lo que era bastante llamativa. Abel nunca tomaría las cosas dejadas por otras personas en el cementerio, pero en la parte frontal de la carta estaba escrito con letra grande: "Para Abel Neumann".
—Que hace mi nombre escrito en esta carta...—Murmuró Abel con aturdimiento, mientras se agachaba para tomar la carta.
Abel tomó la carta del suelo y con cuidado la abrió para ver su contenido:
"Querido Abel Neumann:
Ha pasado mucho tiempo y sin lugar a duda deben ser muchas las preguntas que debes querer realizarme y más aún son las preguntas que deben surgirte luego de leer esta carta. Lo cierto es que no tengo las respuestas de dichas preguntas, pero conozco el sitio a donde puedes encontrarlas.
Ven a buscarme en Golden Valley, en la mansión de los Fischer.
Espero que podamos volver a encontrarnos pronto.
Con cariño se despide tu amada esposa, Ana Weber"
Abel leyó la firma de la carta con sudor en el rostro y con las manos temblorosas.
—Sin dudas esta es la letra de Ana...—Murmuró Abel en voz muy baja, tocando los dos anillos de oro en su dedo anular, como buscando acordarse de la cruel verdad—Pero eso es imposible...
Abel se quedó un rato tocando los anillos de oro y releyendo la carta, hasta que reaccionó y levantó la cabeza para mirar la tumba de su esposa.
La tumba solo tenía un número de identificación en la chapa de metal en el medio de la puerta, por lo que sería bastante complicado dejarle a Abel esta broma de mal gusto, además era aún más raro que la otra persona supiera su nombre.
No obstante, alguien que contará con los registros del cementerio podría saber toda esa información; por ejemplo: el guardia de la puerta. Sin embargo, era imposible replicar la letra de su esposa.

—Golden Valley...—Murmuro Abel con cara triste y preocupada en el rostro—De verdad no quiero volver a ese lugar...
Abel puso la mano en la puerta de metal de la tumba de su esposa y sintió el frío tacto del metal invadiendo su cuerpo con su palma; realmente el viudo estaba tentando a abrir la puerta de metal para ver si había un cadáver dentro de la tumba.
Pero los dos anillos de matrimonio en su dedo anular, le recordaban a Abel que hace mucho había visto el cadáver que yacía tras esta puerta de metal. El hombre no quería profanar la tumba de su esposa, solo para ver el rostro de su esposa en mal estado detrás de esta puerta de metal.
Con amargura, Abel guardó la carta amarillenta en uno de los bolsillos de su traje y del mismo bolsillo sacó un llavero de plata con la cruz de san benito grabado en él. En el llavero únicamente había dos llaves: una llave claramente era muy vieja y la otra era más moderna.
Mirando la llave moderna por un tiempo, Abel guardo el llavero y volvió a mirar la tumba de su esposa mientras decía en voz baja:
—Adiós, Ana. Espero que dios te proteja y evite que algun idiota ataque tu tumba como le ocurrió a tus vecinos…
Tras finalizar su visita, Abel se dio la vuelta y comenzó a dirigirse con aturdimiento hacia la salida del cementerio.
