《MY SHORT STORIES》Indetermine-mancy

He was, in fact, a wizard. To his fellows at the Boure' Quantum Mechanics Laboratory, Professor Elliem Brown, Quantum Physicist, Ph.D . But that was just a title covering his education.
"All matter," he lectured, "can exist in an indeterminate state. The Heisenberg Principal is only the tip of the Quantum Iceberg. Even before the first Einstein condensate, we demonstrated the dual wave and particle nature of matter. It has shown us that all particle behavior and thus all matter derived from it, obey rules, that only statistically, sum into the systems that support common physics. It is not a question of which way a quark spins, but that it can spin both ways at the same time, or even be at the same moment on Mars, and here, as part of your shoe."
The initial lecture was always the most difficult for students visiting the institute. He waited while the expected murmuring abated. These tours were droll inconveniences, but total must-be-done efforts of the institute to bolster Public Relations and pave the way for future grants and entitlements, the life blood of the researcher.
"Here at BQM, we research the applications of such knowledge, find new ways to translate the theoretical and mathematical into the practical and usable. Quantum Physics has already given us all the devices of electronics that exist today. As early as 2010, ways of harnessing quantum entanglement to determine non-local events was paving the way for today's advanced quantum computers."
Here, per script, he flashed his ring. Actually he was quite proud of it, gold and platinum inlay, with his initials, the institute's crest, and a micro engraving of his graduate thesis on it, all 400 pages.
"I have on my finger, more processing power than was available from all the computers in the world, at one time...and, I see that you are not impressed."

An expected chuckle ran through the group. Ring based supercomputers were common as coal.
"But it was only made possible because of the dedication of fierce slaves to the science, such as myself, in places like this." He swept his ring hand up and gestured broadly.

Professor Elliem Brown, pulled deeply at his cigar, and dusted his cue, leaning over the green felt to line up on the six.
"You gonna call that shot?"
"You, are a putz, know that, Emmit? Six in the side, just like it looks. Get me another whiskey. Neat, no ice this time."
The cue cracked sharply and the six ball sank like a ship. "Owe me five."
"Aren't you supposed to be guiding a tour over at the plant right now?'
Elliem unbent from the table, looked at his watch with a raised eyebrow while taking up the offered rock glass in his ring hand. "Yes. I'm just finishing up the lecture right now, and leading the kids into the lab. Why?"

Gina the goblin, Dungeon Extraordinaire
Goburi was a goblin, a very poor goblin and now that she was dying that meant one thing, she could not even pay the toll to cross into the afterlife. Goblins worshipped gold, gold watched over them and Goburi had never earned or lost a mote, finding herself to be something of a heritic. Like most descisions in life it had felt like the nobler pursuit at the time, but with the darkness closing in, she realized how terrified she was. Even if she had died in debt, the great elusive glimmer in the depths would have put her soul in a new body, bringing with her the debt and some vague memories. Another chance to die in the black. Goburi's last thoughts were dark specters of regret chasing themselves in circles of thought until she prayed for it to be done. She really had no idea where the souls of goblin heritics went, it had never really happened before. A new dungeon was born, a crystal of pure magic containing a soul that failed to pass to the afterlife. As it gained awareness something else came through that was never supposed to be there. Another world? Some weird magic? Sure.
Writing my last novel, I realized that before you start, an ending should be there in your mind. So I wrote this as an atonement to my first novel. This is a typical story about someone who gets stranded in another world with OP powers. But this is not about just the MC, but also some people around him who directly/indirectly had their lives changed. I've written this as a collection of short stories where some may be bigger and more intense than the others. Note: I've finished writing all the chapters, but will upload on my own discretion.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.

Shattered Realms - A Pathfinder/D&D game
Broke adventurers looking for a quick and easy paycheck are thrust together as circumstances around them get weirder and weirder. Authors note: This is an ongoing Pathfinder (DnD) game, which will inevitably contain references to other works due to the nature of nerds. Chapters will be random lengths, mostly as long as a game session and depending on how much I can embelish it. Also, some details may change retroactively to maintain consistency. I'm not going to write it as LitRPG, mostly because that's extra work. I'd rather the flow of the story not be interrupted by numbers. I am aiming for updates within a week or two of the game session, which will usually be weekly. Finally, there is a light swearing, gore and sexual references warning. I will update this warning if needed, but will also not write in anything that's too graphic or irrelevant to the story.
