Year- 40113 Standard Slcatrik
Zone #122- Malaysian Peninsula
"Sir!" A young soldier came through the door in a panic. "We're down to 39." He explain his sudden intrusion with urgent news of the battle going on outside.
"Do you think I've not noticed?" The branch commander calmly replied. 'I've never should have opened a branch here. The only people I managed to recruit were a bunch of hot blooded youths!' He never liked this zone anyways. "Round up our soldiers, I've managed to get an evac request through to the main base.
Hearing the the good news the young soldier was enlighten that the main command was kind enough to spare the effort and save them. But the truth was not as kind.
'Bastards! Telling us to hold our ground. How are we supposed to do so when we're beseiged on all sides by our own people.' The commander gave them a false hope. It was to make them think if they spill their blood and held on long enough, their friends beside them might live to see another day.
"Guys! Gather up." A young man came told them the news of the evac coming.
"What? Really? They would do that..." Another youth questionaly ask him.
"The commander said it himself!" The first youth replied.
"Fuck! Take cover!"
*Boom**Boom*
"Damn it. Those bastards! Is everyone alright?!" A third person came running towards their position.
"Holy shi- Firman!" What greeted him was a man horribly disfigured due to the earlier explosion. The guy came and lay the dying man on his lap.
"E... Eva.. Evac... Coming" The dying man desperately tries to say.
"He's dead. Leave him be." A young person came from a pillbox nearby. The guy look to only be 17. "He said something about an evac... We might be safe if we spread our numbers evenly across the line of the this place" The young person said, seemingly unfazed by the seeing a fellow countryman die.

The person with the dead man on his lap seem flabbergast at young man infront of him.
"You- your- Who are you?" The shock of loosing a long time friend seemed too much for him.
"What? Oh- I transferred to this branch just before the attack. The name is Hakeem. Didn't manage to introduce myself because of... well this." Hakeem opened his arms to signify the current situation.
"I'll- I'll tell the rest..." The young man stumbled with his eyes staring far into the distance.
'What's with him?' Hakeem was not used to fighting with platoon. For most of his life, he was alone. The only memories he had of his family were of their final moments. Since then, he never really got attached to anyone.
Hakeem looked towards the dead man layed dead on the ground. 'I don't think we have any spare cloth to cover him with.... wait... wasn't there two people here earlier?' Hakeem faintly remembered hearing two people talking near his pillbox.
"Artillery fire! Take cover!"
*Boom**Boom*
"Ah- Shit- now's not the time to ponder." He quickly enters his pillbox again.
In the pillbox, there was a mounted machine gun at the middle front but it is no longer in use after having running out of ammo. He grabs the rifle he left idle on the side and went to the front of the pillbox to see the battle outside. What he saw was a view that he is very familiar with.
Two sides clashing, artillery firing, soldiers of his side falling one by one at a rate that would make any veterans pale. The base was on an island, the empire's troops had to come by boat. But who would've taught they brought a battleship with them. 'Hello world, nice evening we're having. Although it's a bit hot for a tropical climate.' Hakeem joked. With the rifle in his hand he took aim.

'Spot. Aim. Fire. Spot. Aim. Fire. Spot. Aim. Fire. Spot. Aim. Fire. Spot. Aim. Fire.' Hakeem repeated those words religiously. With each shot he took, a man from the opposite shore fell. It was quite easy to see since his pillbox was on a hill.
'What armour are they wearing? It isn't usually this easy to penetrate.' Hakeem at first didn't know why this fight was like this. 'Usually we would've been overrun by now' Hakeem thought. But then he noticed something perculiar.
'Those... Fucking bastards... Using our own people against us?' The empire didn't took their rebellion seriously. They only occasionally send in a small elite platoon to take out a majority out us then leave us scrambling like chickens. This time, they forced our people to take up our old weapons and attack?
'Even that battleship is an old relic! Isn't that an American battleship? Utterly useless!' Even so, they were being pushed back by sheer numbers.
The battle rages on for days. Their numbers that were already small were going down at a fast rate. In fact, the only reason it momentarily stop was because the empire loyal soldiers couldn't find anyone alive anymore.
"Search that pillbox over there" An empire loyalist commanded.
"Yes, sir." Hearing the command, two soldier went towards a pillbox that was partially collapsed.
As they enter, the two soldiers started talking.
"Hey, man. What was the pay again?" The soldier that was in the back asked.
"I don't know. But I think it is a lot. The commander said it was something like 50 vints?" The leading one responded as he searches the boxes for food.
"50 vints?! Wow...." The man at back was suprised. That amount of money could last him a whole year if he were to spend it wisely.
"Pfft. You should know, the one's at the fighting in Warsaw get atleas-" The leading man was interrupted when he opened one of the boxes.
Hakeem came out and slashed a makeshift knife towards the unsuspecting soldier. As a result, the man's throat had a big slash with blood overpoaring outwards. 'Sorry man, I think this thing is coated in salt.' Hakeem thought. The soldier held his right on his throat as he looked at Hakeem into his eyes.
"Sffffs- Sftsff-" The soldier made a gurgling noise as he fell to the ground. With all the equipment on his back, his fall made a loud thud.
"Hey, Carl. Are you alright?" The soldier that was with him came into the pillbox after checking the boxes outside only to see a gun pointed to his face. "Aku mintak maaf." Hakeem said as he pulls the trigger.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)

How long would it take for me to see my first of the Learned Races, or encounter my first monster? To simply see a [City Guard] or a [Warrior] maybe even a [Mage], even then I'd be sated no matter how basic the Class. I wanted to witness what I read about, the fantastical [Secret Stache] of a [Treasure Hunter] or a [Pickpocket] using [Deft Hands]. These were natural occurrences above, but alas, I was below. And this deep down, I'd see my first horror before seeing any mere monster. My escape were the books but soon I'd turn that knowledge into a real escape, I'd emerge from this dear library and claw my way above. But I'd need to prepare myself, I just didn't know how yet.
