《AVARICE:The Unknown World》Chapter 4-Fun

Laile sat on the ground as he reads the books one by one, he can easily absorb the contents of the books when he is in the dimensional library that’s why he easily finished the Runic section. But unlike the Runic section where you only need to comprehend and understand the informations in the books, the Battle art section needs the body to be well trained in order to perform the practices in the books. This is especially hard for Laile since only his consciousness goes to the Dimensional Library and not his whole body, so he would need to train his body in the real world to be able to perform what is on the books. The Dimensional Library also has a different flow of time in the real world, one hour in the real world is equivalent to 3 hours in the library. Therefore Laile has much more time to read books and practice in the Dimensional Library. He already finished the first shelves of books in the section, the first shelf is mostly just an introduction to the said section. After that are the different arts of the body, practices, exercises, and particular moves.
[Hmmm.]
Laile passed by the shelves when he saw a strange book lying atop of the third shelf, surprisingly there are no other books beside it. The book seems to be particularly different from others, it had a unique covering around it. The cover seemed to be made of a special material, it shines a gold color when exposed to light, it was much more thicker compared to other books, and it gives a different vibe unlike the rest of the books he have read so far. It was a weird feeling inside him, it seems like he was being drawn to the book.
To sate his curiosity Laile tried grabbing the book but as soon as he touched it, strange sparks appeared around the book, and an unknown force repelled his arm causing him to fly in the corner of the room.
[Wha… What the hell was that?]
He was bewildered to what just happened. Confused, he got up and tried to touch the book one more time, again the book started to spark and a force sent him flying to the corner of the section. But this time he saw what happened.
[So there was protection runes engraved on it, but why did it repelled me? Normally protection runes would only stop my hand and not repel it, there are also strange sparks when I touched the book. It really is a strange book]

He was still confused even though he saw what happened, He tried to rack his brain to make sense of it but no matter how hard he think nothing is coming out from his brain. Feeling helpless he just shrugged of the thought.
[I’ll come back for you later]
Laile continued to browse and read the other books apart from the strange book he saw. Even though he wants to read the strange book, he can’t decipher the runes engraved around it. He would need to further advance his study of the runes for him to open it, so he just decided to drop the matter now.
Soon the night died out and the sun came rising. The birds chirped cheerfully along the rising sun, light from the sunrise reflected upon the buildings and the shops of the capital. It was yet again another joyful day as people are already roaming the capital.
Laile woke up in the bedroom and was greeted by warm sunlight that is passing through the window of the room. He saw his big brother comfortably sleeping in the bed as his snooze can be heard in the entire room. Then a loud knock can be heard at the front door of the room.
[Laile, Rei have you woken up?]
[Uhh… big brother is still sleeping grandpa]
Laile replied as he glance back to his brother.
[Wake him up I have something to tell you two!]
[Ok grandpa]
Laile cheerfully replied as he proceeded to walk to his big brothers bed, he raised his hand and slap Rei on his face.
[Ahhh oww oww.
Why did you have to do that everytime??]
Rei exclaimed as he was sent off his bed with Laile’s slap.
[You wouldn’t wake up if I didn’t do that]
Laile replied impassively as this had already happened many times in the past.
[Arghh fine fine]
Rei held his hand on his cheek to alleviate the burning sensation from Laile’s slap. The two walked out of the room and followed their grandpa who’s waiting outside the room. On the way Gen explained that he have something to take care off with Noel so the two of them can go sight seeing in the capital for the day.
[Well, take care of yourselves. Especially you Rei take care of Laile got it?]
[Yes grandpa]
Gen then handed them money that they can use to buy what they like.
Rei and Laile walked out of the residence and was greeted by the streets full of people, shops could be seen all around and vendors shouted passionately to gather customers. Aromatic scent of the food vendors lingers around the air as strides of people come and go from different shops, it can be said that people are thriving here in the capital.

[Big brother let’s buy that]
Laile pointed his finger at the vendor selling meat skewers as his eyes were beaming.
[Alright let’s buy it]
Rei smiled seeing how excited his brother was, they walked straight into the vendor and asked.
[How much for one skewer?]
[Just 2 kan young man]
The vendor replied with a smile
{1 kan = 20 Php or 0.3979 Us dollar}
[I’ll take five please]
[Coming up]
The vendor quickly wrapped up the skewers and handed to Rei.
[Here you go young man]
[Thank you]
Rei took the skewers and passed one to Laile, Laile unhesitantly bit the skewers.
[Mmmmm its delicious!!]
Laile savored the meat in his mouth as he continue to eat the skewers, soon the skewers were no more as he already finished them.
[Big brother let’s go there]
[Okay]
[Big brother let’s buy that]
[Alright]
[Big brother there]
[O.. Okay]
[Big brother]
[Wait Haa Haaa]
Rei said while profusely sweating and panting, he was too exhausted after going around with Laile.
[Let’s take a break for a second okay?]
Rei pleaded.
[Hmmm kay]
Laile replied while looking around to find where to go next.
(Do kids his age really have that much energy? after running around so much he looks like he didn’t even break a sweat. Ah yeah he’s different from a normal kid, I shouldn’t compare him to others)
Rei looks at his little brother as he silently wonders.
(Even though he’s just 10 his height is just a bit shorter than me, I wonder if… Nonono I shouldn’t be thinking of that)
He shook his head and quickly shrugged of his thoughts.
They continued to walk along the streets of the capital until they reached the center of the capital, there stood a tall valiant statue of a man with long hair holding a big sword in front of him. If you would describe the statue with one word it would be ‘Heroic’, Laile stared at the statue with his mouth agape.
[That is the statue of King Leon]
Rei said as he saw how Laile is gazing intensely on the statue.
[King Leon?]
Laile was baffled as it was his first time hearing the name Leon.
[Yes King Leon Arnaud is the one who established the Ranella Kingdom and also its first king, there are many legends about how amazing his feats in the past are. But there is particularly one story that stands out among the rest, and that is how he singlehandedly killed an ancient beast]
Rei passionately expressed with his face full of admiration. He added
[The beast was described to be massive, towering over two humans (around 3 meters in height) with a body akin to that of a lion. But with raging flame blazing around its body, its flames was said to melt even the toughest of metals back in the ancient times. It was said to inhabit an area near the location of the empire, at this point of time King Leon had just established the Ranella Kingdom and sensing the potential danger of the beast to his people he immediately set off to subjugate the said beast. King Leon was powerful but it could also be said to the beast, as the two of them fought for 5 days and 5 nights and in the sixth day King Leon finally defeated the beast impaling it in its heart breathing its last.]
[Woaaahhh!]
Laile stared at the statue full of admiration for King Leon.
[But those events happened hundreds of millennia’s ago so I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but one thing is for sure and that is King Leon cared and protected the people of his kingdom earning him respect and admiration of his people even now]
Rei said with a smile on his face.
[Laile, Rei come here]
A loud voice startled the two while walking on the street.
[Grandpa!]
Laile ran with a beaming face to his grandpa’s arms, Rei quickly followed behind him.
[Atta boy… did you have fun??]
Gen asked with a wide smile on his face.
[Mmmmm Mmmmmm]
Laile nodded vehemently.
[Hmmm it’s still noon so you wanna look around more or something?]
Gen asked his two grandsons.
[Real…]
[Ah I.. I think well pass on that grandpa]
Rei quickly intervened, he was to exhausted to go around again.
[Oh okay, you sure?]
[Yes yes, ahahaha]
[Then let’s go back to Noel’s place]
They made their way back to Noel’s house, but on their way back Laile saw something strange that caught his eyes.
AN: sorry for the late update I've been both busy and lazy lately Hahahhaha

Every attempt to create something in the real world is met with disaster. Her heart yearns for being the master crafter of her virtual youth, but she's the type who burns water when trying to cook. That changes when she wakes up and finds herself in a game-like fantasy world where crafting comes as naturally to her as breathing. She still has to put in the hard work of crafting herself, but the system helps her out to make what was once impossible for her possible. While she might not have any idea how she got to this strange world, she does know that she's not going to waste her chance and is going to make the most out of this new opportunity to craft everything! An "Omnicrafter" was what they called people in the MMORPGs she played who maxed out every single crafting class, and that is exactly what Tabitha plans on doing with her new life! The crafting side of this series is heavily inspired by games like the Atelier series and the critically-acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV (which has a free trial, you know!)*. If there's a problem, it can be solved by crafting. Also, in case the title and synopsis didn't make it obvious enough, this series is going to focus on crafting all the things. Wooden spears and protective cuirasses? You got it! Healing tonics and farming equipment? Sure! Elaborate cupcakes and customizable fantasy golems? Darn straight! Weapons with a broken amount of different buffs applied to them due to the crafting process and materials used? You know it! The most amazing fishing rod to ever exist? Well, obviously. Fishing is the true endgame only after crafting, after all! So, if you like alchemy, blacksmithing, carpentry, cooking, leatherworking, tailoring, engineering, rune forging, magical enchanting, or basically any other type of crafting found in RPGs, come check the story out! An omnicrafter doesn't just focus on one specific type of crafting. A true omnicrafter is the best at all types of crafting! *This is a meme, I'm not sponsored by FFXIV, please don't hate me. Beyond the Horizon's Eye
It is less than two weeks after the event known as the Flux Causality, and two days after the Grand Council has put forth the edict demanding the immediate retrieval and deletion of all Stringhoppers. Finding such Travelers, however, is proving more difficult than expected. A young boy and his sister find themselves violently taken from their world to another, and soon thereafter are forcibly separated. Now sold into slavery, the young man must find not only a reason to survive but a purpose to carry him home. The journey has just begun, and the hardest step is always the first one. ~ This is my attempt at both the Xianxia/Wuxia and Portal/Isekai genre of fiction that I love, and the means to provide a story set in such guidelines, while distancing myself from some of the more common tropes. I do hope you enjoy the story I shall endeavor to tell. ~ Average post between 1000 - 3000 words. This is a work in progress, and will be edited and adjusted over time. If you’re interested in something a bit more GameLIT, you might want to check out my second story on Royal Road, “The Dawnfire Archives”. My newest story is a combination of both genres, but with a female main character at the helm. Feel free to check out "The Card Thief of Culnivar"!

Miracle Angeliva
Spirits, or what people usually referred to as ghosts, are something that has always been with us since ancient times. Some people are gifted to see them. However, most of us can’t see them without training. And without seeing them, we won’t believe. People only believe what they see, after all. However, I assure you, spirits are real. Spirits are always there. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they are not real. Just like people of ancient ages who can’t see bacteria or those who can’t see stars further than eyes can see, there are limits to our technology. Similarly, even though the current technology can’t prove the existence of supernatural beings, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. In the future, if we can develop technology so everyone can see them just like how a microscope helps us seeing micro beings, I believe everyone will believe it too. That being said, I still can’t prove their existence yet. -Raleigh Von Vlad Update daily (if possible, if not, guaranteed chapters are on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) Thanks to gej302 for the fantastic cover!
