《Feudal Feud》Episode 4.1 - Ms. Wang

It was now time to lower the barrier, since although the amount of life force it consumed was capped, keeping such an enormous barrier up and running was a demanding task on everyone who found themselves inside it. Rai snapped his fingers and the air changed back to normal from yellow, making the still barrier-punching Liena fall onto Rai's arms, who had positioned himself in a way that would allow him to grab the girl without her hurting herself in any way.
"You idiot… you told me you weren't going to use Heavenly Arts against me!", said the crying Liena, who sat on top of Rai's arms like a recently wed spouse.
"It's your fault for being such a brusque fighter! Should I have let everyone here die?" Liena's eyes filled with a hint of regret, as she realized that she had indeed gone quite overboard during her last performance. "Never mind that, are you hurt anywhere? I tried to hold back just then but I, too, got a bit more excited than I should have… sorry."
Upon hearing this, Liena's face turned bright red, as she blushed over the fact that Rai was worrying over her.
"If you drop me on the ground, you're dead! Consider this your apology!" said the still blushing Liena despite trying to hide the fact as well as she could.
"Yes, yes."
This whole interaction was, obviously, seen by most who found themselves in the training grounds, since those two had just been the stars of the flashy show that had just taken place there. It seemed that Rai was oblivious to the attention they were getting this time, though, unlike Liena, who could very clearly tell that while the men looked towards the pair with an aura of pride, as if praising the fellow man Rai's recent attitude, the women looked at the two of them with an expression of jealousy, which in turn made Liena more clingy, rolling her arms deep around Rai's chest as he carried her.

"Mr. Rai, may I know the motive behind the circus you decided to transform our very serious evaluation into?"
This was asked by the also very serious Lanfen Wang, infamous for her rigid and unforgiving teaching style, who had just arrived at the scene without Rai noticing. None of the new students reacted in any way whatsoever to this woman's words, but Rai and Liena, knowing and having experienced her terrific teachings firsthand, became frozen with fear and awkwardness all of a sudden.
"A-ah! If it isn't Ms. Wang! I hope your annual leave was very well spent! Don't you agree, Liena?"
'Why is this excuse of a man dragging me into this is what Liena thought, but she knew stirring things up wouldn't result in anything positive, especially with such an intimidating figure in front of her. "...B-b-but of c-course! You see, Ms. Wang, Rai and I were showing the new practitioners some of the things they would be learning during their stay at the Institute! That's right! A demonstration!". The fake confidence in her voice would end up backfiring, as the teacher would immediately recognize that Liena had just lied.
"Ms. Liena, Mr. Rai, I will ask the two of you the same exact question once again: What is the motive behind the circus you decided to transform our very serious evaluation into?". These words were spoken with not a drop of familiarity, with Teacher Wang's eyes glaring at the pair like they were nothing more than human trash.
"We apologize for our actions!", said the two teenagers in unison, with Liena distancing herself away from Rai's arms and both lowering their heads to the ground as they kneeled in front of the woman. What a way to ruin the scene!
It was as if this was a ritual they had repeated thousands of times before.

"In my defense, Rai is the one who started it, Ms. Wang!"
Rai, feeling betrayed, decided to once again go at the girl.
"What the hell are you on about, you damned woman? Want me to send you all the way to the Heavens this time, huh?"
"I would have beat you hadn't you used those Heavenly Arts, you liar!"
The teacher, who had been letting the two go at it before once again reprimanding them, changed her expression very suddenly and looked at Rai with worry on her face.
"Why did you use Heavenly Arts once again, Mr. Rai? How many times will I have to tell you not to do that? None of us know exactly what they do, yourself included! How can you know it's not your own life force that's being sucked away little by little? Do you plan on dying still a teenager? Do you plan on killing everyone by stripping them of all their life?"
Whenever Teacher Wang dropped her formal way of speaking, it could be affirmed that something grave had just happened.
And she spoke the truth.
Heavenly Arts were something that only a very select few could use, with the number of people who had mastered them being countable with the fingers of one hand. Although Rai, due to something that could only be described as divine talent, had the ability to use them from a very young age.
Usually, such seemingly dangerous arts would not be taught in a place as common as the Institute but Kazaki, being a high rated expert, had a vast library of knowledge that he freely and willingly shared with Rai as a way of making the boy stronger and stronger, therefore allowing him to, one day, shape his life in a way he believed to be more fitting, not being shackled to things like titles or money. This caused Rai to grow up into one of the most talented individuals of the Northern Fighting Institute, but that was still not enough for him to detach himself from all the things he believed were holding him back.
With that said, it is understandable that Ms. Wang, one who played the role of supervisor and oftentimes mother, scolding and castigating Rai whenever he behaved incorrectly, would show worry over Rai using those types of arts. The number one strength of Heavenly Arts was its unlimited potential, and no shadow of doubt existed over that, but its other strength, being something only a certain few could use, also backfired on those limited men, since the amount of information pertaining to those arts was incredibly low when compared to other "normal" and less singular arts.

The Yes-Mage
Plenty of people have stopped and asked what it'd be like to simply have everything, and Sylvain Henry Camille Johansson was no different. He was a man who had a lot of things going on, with a name that'd make a supervillain blush and a family who'd make even the useless of their rank into someone important. It was a shame, then, that he was slapped with a dreadfully unfortunate condition that kept him from living up to any of those already low expectations. Stuck living a life where magic is everywhere while he's left working with nothing more than a moderate intellect, a little bit of whatever influence he could get from his family, and a lifetime's practice at making himself the ideal subordinate for his bosses' boss, Vane was still beating the odds and slowly working his way up in the world. When the cunning yes-man finally got a chance to really make a name for himself, he leapt at the offer, taking his first real step onto a road he knew he was always meant to walk. His goal? Nothing less than finding out why he and too many other unfortunate souls are barred from the wonderful world of the higher energies, and with any luck, fixing it. Of course, life has a knack for interfering in even the humblest of plans, and Vane's lofty ideals were anything but humble; he was practically a walking bullseye for disaster. The funny thing about catastrophe, though, is that nobody can ever say what form it's going to take. That’s why, when it all went wrong for Vane, he'd gotten everything he'd ever wanted foisted onto him, and Everything else, too. Watch as a man so used to saying 'yes' to everyone above him finds himself stuck with the power to make reality itself say it back.

This is the story of Nicholas Gray, the Shadow Demon. Note: Story is based on other LitRPGs found on the site such as Dante's Immortality, Necromancer and Co, etc. and on Halo for the majority of the first chapter and possibly later on down the road, I only borrowed things such as the armour and weapons used in the game itself and all credit goes to them for that kind of stuff. I will also perhaps use it to explain his backstroy to further character progression if I can. The cover photo was also a picture I found on the internet and if you wish for credit or for me to take it down just say so and i'll do it as fast as possible. I also don't have a set schedule, and this is just being used to improve my grammar and just as a hobby, nothing more. I will also appreciate feedback in regards to grammar, style, and story in general as this is the first time I have created a story apart from at school, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
