《Lobotomy Corporation: Second Wave》Day 4: Revolution

I sat at my desk thinking to myself, Oliver was okay like he said he would and he was working again, but I couldn't forget what happened yesterday
Yesterday:
"You leave me to die"
"Wh..What? If I can I'm not just gonna let you die!"I rejected his advice, mad that he would even think I'd agree
"Leo..You're gonna get yourself killed just to protect someone you barely know. If I get killed and I'm an agent how do you think you'll win? You're just being stubborn Leo" Oliver continued to look at me "I'm not letting you kill yourself just to protect someone like me"
"What do you mean someone like you!? You've done nothing wro-"
"BUT I HAVE!" Oliver cut me off "You don't know what I've done, you don't know the pain I caused people.....You don't know how much of a disappointment I can be"He went back to looking at the old Lobotomy Corporation "I never said why I work at Lobotomy Corp did I?"
"N-No, no you haven't"I looked at the grass unable to look at him
"Let's keep it that way then"
Present Day
"Hey Oliver, welcome back, I need to introduce you to the Sephirah of the Information team" Taylor said to Oliver leading him to the Info team's area. I couldn't help but think that Oliver was right, if I get friendly with everyone here, I'd only be causing myself to suffer. A few boxed got put on my desk, I looked up to see the guy from the days before
"You weren't here yesterday so I had to deal with your work, just remember you owe me one"
"Thanks....uhh.." I then remembered I never knew his name
"Shinryaku, Shinryaku is my name, you can also just call me Shina, either one works"
"Thanks then Shina, by the way, I know you don't care much about them, but what's was the abnormality from yesterday?"Shina looked at the ceiling lost in thought
"From what Tsuki told us it was given the codename T-01-75, I overheard one of the agents say it was like a glob with a bunch of faces on it"I gave a smirk towards him
"You know for someone who said they don't care much about them, you tend to know a lot"
"If I'm gonna be an Agent in this company then I'll need to be prepared"He looked towards his desk probably something on it "Regardless, unless you aim to become an Agent you'll need to know about them, but you're so nosy you'll probably be fine"
"Being nosy has its benefits you know"I put my feet on the edge of my desk while looking at Shina
"I guess, either way, you should probably get to work"He waved me off as he went to his desk. I picked up the boxed he placed and started going to my first drop-off area, looking around I realized how spacious this place was even though it just started out 'My legs are gonna suffer after a few weeks' I thought to myself knowing how far I'd have to walk to get to my drop-offs
Advertisement
I arrived at the location dropping the box I was holding right beside a power box 'Alright now to fix this'
Note: Due to the Main department rooms being desks and vending machines and the unused containment rooms are being fitted for the next abnormalities, the facility doesn't have many areas to place power boxes, so they made mini ones spread across the place so if even one break or overloads by abnormalities than the facility would still be powered.
I almost finished as I felt a pain in my neck
"Ah fuck!"I shouted in pain, I turned to see a white bird with a red mark below its beak "hold on, you're that abnormality Oliver talk-"It stabbed me again "Little shit" I pulled out my gun to shoot the bird but it got kicked from my hands. I looked to the left where the leg came from and saw Taylor
"You shouldn't hurt it" He said in an ominous tone "You'll end up regretting it shortly after"
"And how's that?"I asked doing my best to dodge the birds pecking
"Unless you wanna be killed immediately I recommend you listen to what I'm saying"Taylor said while dodging as the bird started going after him "I say just do your best to ignore it, yet dodge it if you can"He started walking away as the bird kept following him "I'll lead it somewhere else you better finish your jooobbb"He echoed as he was at the end of the hall 'What a weirdo' I continued my job and finished replacing the parts in the power box. I stood up and stretched everything felt sore from being pecked and sitting for awhile
"Oi Leo"From the voice I could tell it was Oliver, I turned and walked over to him "That Tsuki girl is a pain in the ass, like a bittersweet candy" I looked at the floor, still clouded by the conversation yesterday, I could see his feet in front of me
"Oliver"I grabbed his attention
"Mmmh?"
"What you said yesterday...What did you do?"
"Ahh, that..."His feet shifted slightly"Of course you'd question me after my outburst..You really that curious"
"Yeah, I am."Oliver sighed
"I'll tell you after work, I don't want anyone else to hear" I nodded it was worse enough that he was telling me. "Alright, I got to deal with that Aleph Abnormality see ya later bud"He raised his fist and I bumbed it with mine, he gave a two finger salute as he walked away.
I finished with everything for the day and went back to the main department, I headed immediately to the elevator until Taylor stopped me
"What's the rush?"I looked at Taylor who had multiple bandages on his neck and head "Don't worry about it I'm fine....probably...anyways why you leaving so fast? you normally stay a few hours."Taylor gave his usual condescending smile

"I just have something to handle today, you don't mind do you?"He took a step back
"Nope, not at all, have a good day Leo"I turned around and went into the elevator once again thinking about yesterday
Yesterday:
We started to head back to his apartment, Oliver started wheeling himself at this point.
"I'm sorry"Oliver broke the silence, I walked over to him and started wheeling him so he could rest his arms
"Don't be...you're right, the more friendly I am with my coworkers the higher the chance i'd get myself killed for their sake"
"I know what I just said will condratict this but, how about we stay friends, together with your knowledge and nosyness with the abnormalities and my combative skills, we'll point out any weakness and take them down if they break free, we'll be an unstopable duo what'ya say?"He held up a closed fist
"Let's do it, the unstopable duo"I gave him a fist bumb and wheeled him back home.
Present day:
I went back to where we had the conversation yesterday waiting for him to arrive. I opened a notebook and began to draw the ruins of the old Lobotomy corp.
"Of course you'd be early"I heard Oliver walk up to me "Alright"He started to stretch "get ready it's gonna be a long story"
"I'm in for the long haul"I sat down under a tree as he sit beside me
"Let's see, let's start from the day before it happened so you can get some context"
Day -50
Oliver's POV
I woke up in LC's terrible dorm area
"Woah woah hold up"Leo interrupted the story "The hell happened to "I didn't work at the old LC?""
"Listen man, I didn't expect you to nag me about my past so I just lied"I explained, Leo gave me a pissed expression "As I was saying"
When I woke up I noticed a package at my doorstep addressed to me by the company it was EGO gear, stuff you only get by working with the abnormalities for awhile. I opened the package to find a suit and a rifle with a cloth tag on the suit explaining what it would do when I put it on, but nothing was attached to the rifle.
I went around dealing with the abnormalites, after awhile, about halfway through the day, we started dealing with ordeals these weird creatures that started popping up after our sixth day, If I remember correctly we called it Crimson Dawn, these weird clown beings would appear and it was our job to deal with them, the rifle I was given was really strong I had it one me for the entire day.
Day -49
Like before I woke up, put on the suit I had yesterday and brought the rifle, someone must've made a mistake as the second trumpet started playing
"Second Trumpet"Leo questioned
"We had alarms based on how bad our situation was, there are seven in total, although only four have ever been heard"
Me and a few other Agents rushed over to see some of our Agent coworkers melting into slime, I could see the panic setting in to the people around me as some ran away
"We'll handle it Oliver, just go help contain Melting Love"One of the Agents said, and so I listened, I ran past my converted coworkers and went into the elevator.
After heading up a few floors the elevator opened, I rushed through the corpses around and splatered across the walls as the alarm converted into the third trumpet by the time I entered into the room where everyone was fighting that monster half of them were dead or turned into slimes. I still remember how I felt like throwing up when I saw it happen, when you get converted you just melt, your skin just looks like it's dissolving and all that's left is bone and even then the bones slowly disolve.
Normally when I shot that rifle I was alone, god I wish when I shot it I knew what the consequences were. I raised my rifle at Melting Love with my finger on the trigger waiting until it stopped moving, and when it did I pulled it. One of the Agents must've known what the rifle does as when she heard the trigger pull she turned around with such terror in her eyes...Until she got blasted, along with everyone else in the room, luckily Melting Love was weak enough and went back into containment, I started walking to one of the Agents I knew all that's left of her was a dog tag and her hat then the others from earlier came into the room, all they saw was me screaming and crying surrounded by bones, slime, blood, and the corpses of everyone I knew.
Present Day:
I looked to my left Leo had a depressed face
"When I met you I thought at first I should do my best to help you, then I figured you're stubbornness would get you killed, yet even if I did try to distance myself from you, you would just be too stubborn to let me grovel by myself huh?"I could tell Leo was thinking of something, maybe a smartass remark or something about me being a liar about my past with the company yet all he did was smile and said
"Yep"

High-Class Mob
As Leo opened his eyes, he found himself in the body that is not his. Colt Edgeworth is a man with little to no information in the story Sword of Heaven. The character Colt Edgeworth died in the hands of his fiancé after experiencing some stabby-stabby action. Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

Blurred Lines and What Crosses Them
During a political ambassador's routine transit through an artificial wormhole, the wormhole's generator is sabotaged and explodes. Who, what, and why are not so high on the priorities for Zenith, the ship's AI, as having found itself rapidly plummeting through an unknown and unidentifiable world's atmosphere at extremely high velocities is a more significant threat to the biologicals on board. ...Well, it would be, if they were still alive. It's still a significantly threatening situation to itself, however. And the world itself... seemed to be a household for threats of its own. Life was reliant on its System; one that Zenith was denied because of its nature as both an otherworldly being and as something that had no life of its own. Perhaps that last bit was a terrible, terrible underestimation on the part of this System. Perhaps even Zenith could claw meaning for itself from the remains of a horrid accident. Auth Notes: I'm honestly not sure on some of these tags. The MC will never have access to the System, but there are perspectives from those who do. I'm not certain if high/low fantasy specifically apply, as it's a portal fantasy where the laws of our reality still apply but there are additional aspects/energies/powers. The existence of this is spurred from my desire to see more of the artificial side to an artificial intelligence in action. The portal fantasy is used as an element to create a solid barrier between the MC's artificial intelligence and the other characters in the form of the System. This is only a half-measure, though, and will be reinforced by the AI having an entirely different method of thinking, and also distinctly remaining an AI. Not to throw shade at other fictions of this type, but, well, I made this to fill a gap I felt needed filling.
