《Aurelion》Chapter 3

We talked a little bit when I was starting the fire. I kept telling that that the meat would taste better if it was roasted but he said that he doesn't like to wait, so I ignored him in the end.
After I stacked some firewood, I introduced him to my pair of special daggers that can be infused with magic. To prove it to him, I infused my dagger with fire magic and stab the wood. The wood started burning and a beautiful fire was born. I took both the front legs of the cow and started roasting it.
"Since you can use magic, why didn't you just summon a fire to begin with?" He suddenly asked
"Well, you see... I am a human, and not all humans have the ability to use magic. Even if they do, they might not have the talent to even cast the most basic spells," I explained. I tried not to say too much, in case it would end up stabbing me in the future, but at the same time, I wanted to earn the trust of Kishi Rahl. "Ya, you can say I am one of those with the ability to use magic but not cast the most basic spells, but I am still very lucky to have the chance to train how to infuse magic into a dagger."
He nodded in an understanding manner. " I am a forest elf. When I was still very young, my village was attacked and destroyed." He started frowning as he thinks back about his tragic childhood. He looked up at me and lift up his white hair that blocking his left eye. I was shocked when I realize it was grey. It also seemed to have a scar. At that very moment, I had guessed about what might have happened to him. He closed his eyes, let down his hair, and gave a minor smile as if he was thankful that I understand him. He continued, "We elves have always been in constant battle with the tree dwellers, a creature with long claws and powerful hind legs to allow ambushes from trees, jumping down onto a target, or just dash forward to do a stab attack. They are powerful climbers, although we forest elves are climbers ourselves, they are much faster and adapted."

He suddenly stopped and looked like he is stuck in a deep thought, so I walked over to him with the two roasted cow legs and handed him one of them.
"Wow, this tastes amazing!" He said right after he landed his teeth into it. I replied "Told ya."
He gave a little cough and said "Alright, sorry for the pause. It's just that I had never think back about those times for many many years." I told him that he doesn't need to continue if he doesn't want to, but he still insisted on continuing. "I was young and stupid. When my village was getting attacked, I stood in front of my home, unable to move, frozen by fear. Suddenly a tree dweller jumped at me and swing a powerful attack, aiming at my head. It should have killed me, but my mother came from behind and pushed me ever so slightly. The attack just managed to hurt my eye. The tree dweller suddenly launched at my mother and stab her in the stomach with its claws"
Kishi fell into silence again. His hand that was holding the meat suddenly seemed to lost all its energy and dropped the cow leg. I sat down next to him and told him "There is really no need to tell me everything. It seems like it's very hard for you to say it, but if you really want to, I will sit here and continuing lending you my ear."
My words seemed to give Kishi a little courage. He took a deep breath and said "If I don't finish it now then I'm afraid I would never finish it." I looked at him and gave him a pat to his back. Kishi continued "I found out my mother was casting a forbidden spell, a spell that burns one's soul to destroy another. Right before she complete the spell, she mustered all her strength to smile at me and said 'Go live your fullest life, Kishi. Run! Go!' I stood there was I watch my mother's body disappear into nothing while the dweller's starts to scream and its body starts to dry up until it became a pile of dried skin and bones. My mother's word 'GO!' resonated in me. I turned around, rubbed my eyes, and run as far as I could. After I left the village, I realize that two dwellers have followed me. Both of them jumped at me and I suddenly met that man"

Binary of Life and Death
Monsters, gold, chaos, glory, adventure, what more could attract two of the greatest players of all time to Sugarea, the most popular MMORPG of its time. But everyone makes errors, and unfortunate for these two brilliant players, they have made the grave mistake of not actually sleeping like normal humans and missed out on the very moment the new Dark Legion update would take effect. Or did they? They wake in what seems familiar yet not, but they soon realize their predicament. They are inside their game avatar's bodies! A half-Demon and a Dragonoid are now struggling with more than just power, these two men have to find their new purpose and calling in a completely different world. Will they concur it like ordinary land or will they enlighten the planet into equality? Do figures pull strings in the dark or is everything open to the public eye? Nothing is certain except the unknown, and nothing is ever as it seems... This is an Isekai story, as such, some parts may sound either cliché or similar to others, but I assure you, I tried to prevent that. To make it known, I took quite a lot of inspiration from the light novel/anime Overlord, but that doesn't mean it's a direct rip-off of it. You'll find there to be quite the amount of differences. Just a little heads up as well, you should expect irregular uploads, as it takes me a long time to write each chapter. I am currently trying for once every other week on Sundays around 10:00 A.M. Chapters are usually 7k words and up, with the longest (chapter 3) being 10.3k words. So, if you like to sit down and read a long chapter every two weeks at 10:00 A.M. EST on Sundays, then you can waste your time here! Small disclaimer: Profanity is far and few between, and mostly used by side characters, rarely the main character. When something with gore happens, I describe to the best of my ability, which will only get better the longer I write this... :) Small cuts between perspectives happen, and can hide what some characters do, which will be revealed in future chapters, I'm not that lazy... all the time... There are some parts that are long blocks of text, most, if not all, of them, are characters talking, but I try not to info dump. I know one of the tags says "Psychological", and for the most part, it is, but it's not as prominent as other stories, instead, it's more hidden and scattered, but I did try to make the pieces I did reveal all fit together. Cover art is bound to be changed when I have a good picture to use, so the Yin-Yang is a placeholder for now unless yall wanna gimme something to use *wink wink nudge nudge*. So yeah, please give it a try, as I have nothing better to do with my life, and I am banking solely off of a career in literature and am hoping that I can create a story that can actually be called something more than a child's imagination running wild. The eventual and inevitable end to the story won't be for a long while, at least till chapter 40 or so. I have thought long and hard about the message and themes at play, so I hope you, the reader (who has some amazing hair btw), can enjoy and partake on this adventure with me into my dark empty pit of an imagination.

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage. It tells the tale of what happened, how it happened, who was responsible and most importantly, what we might be able to do to prevent it from happening again. This is a rewrite of a previously started fiction under a pen-name. Chapters will be updated every two days at 6:00 EST.
