《ASHES OF TWILIGHT》BELOW THE BELT

Fog streamed into my soul, and it turned to ice, more and more poured over, an unending wave of ice that froze my thought...
“THOU......."
Little specks of dreams pierced into my mind, flooring my soul. was that a sensation of taste?
the morning sun peeking over the horizon?,
the joyful sounds of children playing in the river?....
all these specks were they fragments of my memories?.
I was pierced by millions of them, without order or reason, a multitudes of sensations, conversations and emotion.
“ART......."
The flow of the fog sped up, from little fragments of memories like flakes of snow, the fragments became larger than boulders, and I was drowned in memories, most of which were not mine, I don’t imagine me having a shell and swimming in the bottom of a fiery volcano was one of my fondest memory, or having six arms and grey skin, or tasting the sweet kiss of a lover as she plunge her blade into my heart.
“MINE........"
My reality became a single dot of light, it was all I could do to protect myself from the flood, strange sights, languages, towering palaces and festering slums, ancient civilization and fledgling races, pictures of their lives and doom, their culture, pride and taboos, and I knew I couldn’t hold on to them, doing so was consigning my self to an amalgamation of parts, a hive mind, my reasoning spread on a vast amount of personal philosophies all striving for dominance until I essentially become invalid.
With a horrifying hiss, the location of that intense suction drawing my memories cracked, a short while later it was drawn into my soul becoming part of a swirling maelstrom of memories... my hearts stop beating, my body grew cold.
everything happened under the cold golden gaze of Zarathul who watched all with frightful indifference.
On a white desert that extended for infinity a black Dragon laid on it. It was covered by huge swatches of vegetation, with various hollows on its body holding small lakes and rivers, its head pierced into the clouds, and its appeared fast asleep.
On its body was a thriving populace, tall scaly creatures with humanoid features, they lived a nomadic lifestyle, eating from the bounties of the forest and drinking from the sweetness of the lakes, they danced and sang around fires in the evening, the thrilling laughter of the young ones making the elderly smile in contentment. if aware they lived on the body of a dragon, they showed no signs of it. Their encampment lit up as evening came, colourful butterflies swamping the site, turning it into paradise... the fires were bright and the meal was warm.
A mating ritual was being held for the young adults, who in pairs sang in slow harmony, and swayed to the movements of the flames. Jealousy shone in the eyes of the unpicked males, as they vowed silently to win their mates in the next rituals.

The dragon shuddered slightly in its slumber, and their entire world ended.
Entire forest were uprooted, flung into the air, rivers were turned into fine spray, and the indigenous population just ceased. Bodies disintegrated, too fragile to handle the slight movement of the slumbering dragon.
A resounding crack was heard, whole layers of earth and rocks collapsing, they had built up on the head of the dragon, over an inestimable amount of time. the eyes of the dragon opened, deep rumblings like earth quakes travelled up the chest of the dragon, its opened it cavernous mouth, teeth the size of mountains yet pointed like needles, and its wailed.
For in each eye socket was packed with seven eyes each, each eyes were in different colours and were in two forms, slitted horizontally and side slanted and all were filled with fog that whispered endless dreams. Two of the eyes were dead and necrotic. Another eyes suddenly grew cracks.
A huge cry of rage that could destroy worlds came from the dragon, the eye tore apart and exploded. The rage of the dragon detonated, the very aether shrieked in pain, countless dragons in various planes cried out in shock, and three dragon Lords lost their heads when it’s exploded... they regrew it with fear on their features, cries of shock and dismay from them as they ordered their underlings to investigate the occurrence while rapidly consulting their orisha.
A massive ship travelled through an ocean of webs, crafted seemingly from crystals, it drew in light yet reflected little .. making the surrounding lights around it dark, but the little light it emanated was blinding.
It had three massive sails made from metallic Web, that faced different directions, each glowing with the essence of starlight, moonlight and sunlight.
Massive arachnid trailed among the decks of the ship, all busy on unknown tasks, a floating silver bell on the prow of the ship ringing once in while that made the Web in front of the ship to part.
In the most luxurious part of the ship, a lady stood in a great room like a statue, a statue fifteen feet tall, she wore clothes of sparkling Web that formed a form fitting dress, eyes closed... her skin was midnight black with silver runes running down her frame, that pulsed rhythmically, with hair so black it was almost blue, stopping at her waist.
she drew in a breath “ I have been woken .”
She gestured with a slender finger tipped with silvery claws, and a figure coalesced from pale smoke and bowed, still wreath in shifting haze it spoke
“My lady"
“What caused the disturbance in the aether Regorld?”
“ the sleepless beast, my lady, it lost an eye"
Her eyes blinked in shock, revealing a purplish orbs, ringed with ephemeral webs that drifted into the air, and disappeared in little burst of smoke. “that sleeping fool was out witted?, after all the precautions those filthy lizards put in place?”

“it would appear so, my lady”
The lady frowned “thirty thousand cycles of plans all wasted, who danced outside my Web?. No matter, two once fell and three shall rise, my eyes still see truth from the dark.”
With a silent rumble a grand throne made of green crystal emerged from the floor, and she sat on it, left hand on her thigh, while the right cupped her face, she appeared deep in thought and after a while spoke “I can think of three parties responsible for this action, but this matter will surely be escalated by those lizards, I will need eyes even on their most sacred territory.”
She paused and sighed “ this hatchling ceremony is going to be special... summon the girl".
“At once my lady" the figure was a butler, with a monocle that reflected flowing sands on a vast desert and a dry heat emanated from glass, attired in a white three piece suit with a broadsword attached to his hips. He held up a time piece glanced at it and turned, looking majestic in that small motion, he walked down the silent hall ways of the ship... passing through many mirrored passages that showed a hulking golden spider as his reflection, the spider had a single red eye. He finally arrived at his destination at the aft of the ship.
He arrived at a mirrored door, he observed himself for a moment, the single eye of the spider covering the entire door observing him back, he smiled.
Brushing off imagined dust from a spotless suit, he drew a rune combination on the door, which slid inward, he coughed announcing himself and he walked into the room, it was generally dark with various spots of brightness inside, one spot contained sparks flying off the wall from the scratching of a beast, he looked towards the sound coming from the corner of the room, there was a huge red dog with fur like flames, it emanated a glow that pursued the darkness from that side of the room, it was svelte and graceful, and undeniably female, and it was clawing the walls whimpering pitifully.
when the sound of the cough came to the agitated dog, she whipped her head towards the butler and her demeanour changed, she opened her teeth in a snarl and stalked towards the him.
With a blur of motion she attacked, which he smoothly sidestepped, he adjusted his monocle and dodged the second charge, all while looking bored .
“Echo, I will avail you to stop your meaningless tricks, the lady summons you”
“it not meaningless if I hit that ridiculous eyebrow off your face, reg-reg.” The red hound smirked “ I see you have dyed it a marvellous shade of pink"
“ your frivolities never ends Echo” Regorld sighed as he wiped his now pink eyebrow, which turned into the dark colour it has been for years. “Make your form presentable and attend to the lady, I trust you don’t want to keep her waiting.
“You are no fun reg reg, always on duty and what’s not, break out of your mould a little, a small change in habits, will have all the dames in thirty galaxy hunting the hottest butler in the universe!” the red dog stood on two feet with a paw on her chest and the other pointing at the sky, as if she just made the most important proclamation.
Only a slight crinkling on the forehead showed Regorld irritation. “of course Echo, little warning before you see the mistress, the tides in the aether is changing, expect your task to be daunting.”
Regorld smartly turned and walked away. The red dog followed behind and mimic his words in a slightly deeper accent “ the tides in the aether is changing. The tides has never been still reg reg. Until my mistress hold all the planes, it will ever wander... duh.”
In a blaze of flames, the dog walked upright and transformed into a seven years old girl, with flaming hair that swept through the floor, leaving burning trails, she looked at her hair and frowned, the locks shuddered and promptly started floating. She smiled “better".
She skipped after Regorld, attempting to keep abreast with his pace, “heyoo what made that horrible scream like a lizard being choked to death mid coitus?”
Regorld physically winced “amazing that you could hear that Echo, even in the depth of my lady’s ship, but your choice of words leave much to be desired.”
Echo stick her tongue out at him “ What was so amazing about hearing that?, nearly drove me insane"
“The jury still out, if you can be considered sane" Regorld frowned. “ be polite Echo, even when my lady does not show it, her anger run deep anytime prey escapes her web".
“noted reg reg, her anger can’t be worse than your stifling mannerisms” Echo sniffed.
They arrived at the throne room.

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
