《ASHES OF TWILIGHT》UNDYING FLAMES

I was naked. This was becoming a stylize choice i had little control over, I looked around me, checking to see if there were any piece of clothing that could cover me, but for broken pieces of blue metal, the area was empty.
A thump sounded in the distance, and the shriek of the demon followed, then series of intense continuous vibrations followed, and over all that the joyful laughter of the woman that dragged me around like a rag doll. Guess she was having fun fighting with an eldritch horror.
“ Crazy folks everywhere” I muttered, walking towards the largest sheet of metal on the floor, I grunted, hefting it. it was sizable but I could wield it to defend myself if the situation calls for it, though I would prefer a rod that hopefully ended in a point... poking holes in things usually works...usually.
A weird itch started from my heart, and travelled down my arms, and unbidden, words came to my mouth again, “The Flames Create”.
Silver fires engulfed the metal and it turned liquid like syrup, more like a blanket. I held it up marvelling at the elasticity, the last of the silver flame faded and I squeezed the now liquid metal, it felt not like metal, but thick jello, and its weight had reduced to almost nothing, waving it around turned it into a panorama of blue starlight...
“ could have made an underwear why you were at it" I muttered, I have become blasé towards miracles, who would have thought.
As the metal turned malleable, it stretched for at least four yards which I tied around my waist folding it so it stays above my knees to allow freedom of movement, the excess I let it drape by the side of my hips.
I walked up to the entryway leading to the passage, when something the size of a cow hurtled pass me faster than a speeding train... the updraft nearly pulling me off my feet, it flew outside the structure for some distance before gravity caught it, I turned the other way and watched in awe as a goddess stepped forth.

Her hair were floating in non existing winds - like blue fires it created a hallow around her face, lightening wreathed her body that tore the very fabrics of existence, I could see deep black cracks in the air, that closed off a while later, in her right hand she held a great sword that should be six feet long, and she held it as if weightless, and in her left a shield with a coiled dragon embossed on it. She eyed me as she walked by and I was frozen, not with fear mind you bit in dumb adoration, this was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my seventeen years of life. Somewhere between all that dying and meeting fantastical creatures it was getting hard for me to guage my sanity.
She eyed me “weird little shit". I winced at the insult, well I had to give that to her, she was eight foot tall and karma was biting me hard for all those times I towered over everyone growing up. Her eyes moved towards my makeshift wrapper and they twitched. Noticing the direction of her gaze I smiled “ do you like them?... made them myself”
She surprised me, by critically accessing the liquid metal, “was that made from my heart?”.
I gawked at her. There were so many ramifications to that statement, I will wisely choose to ignore for now .
“ so did you win?”
“one cannot defeat the darkness, only stall it.”
I frowned “sk that’s your plan? Stalling the darkness for an eternity”
“not an eternity, for however long I live”
“Oh brilliant idea, and for how long do you live I suppose"
“I am a blue dragon, with a seat of power rooted in the thunder elementium plane, so a safe bet should be six hundred to seven hundred thousand years, take away some few centuries as change"

“okay" I replied dully “ and how old are you"
She sniffed arching her shoulders in pride “ Twelve thousand years.”
I gaped at her “ amazed at my youth Nephilim? And how many millennia must you be. You must have slept for all this while, to avoid the cull after the breaking"
“I am seventeen going on eighteen in a few weeks time.”
“You shouldn’t even be out of your egg yet"
“ yeah...I don’t think that’s how it’s works for _
A cry of fury reverberated through the sands outside, the woman or should I say a dragon walked towards the opening, a frown growing on her face. I walked beside her and saw a growing black mass filled with tentacles, and gaping maws containing too many teeth.
A tentacle stretched towards us, incredibly long, covered in many mouths that held mini tongue like tentacles, it hovered over us, then striked with startling power, but quicker than my eyes could follow, the great sword rendered it in two, more tentacles followed and the dragon turned into a whirling feverish storm, but inevitable she faltered and missed some, and was slammed into unforgiving metal.
She fell dazed on the floor, panting hard as slowly she got up to her feet, this fight was going too fast for me to interfere, I was still too weak to make any difference, I peered around, trying to find anything to shift the tides.
“Hey Nephilim!”
“That’s not my name"
She ignored me “ Can you call up Herald flames on command?”
“I guess so,.. why?”
“Brace yourself"
A hand seized me by the neck....sigh" I was getting tired of this".. and threw me out into the air.. now that was unexpected. This was going to hurt when I go splat on the ground. As I fell I was silent, I spread my hands as the wind whispered against my ears, everything was serene but a wave of anger was bubbling in my stomach. colour me surprise when a body fell alongside me, more like flew, she was falling faster than me, she was saying something but it was lost over the winds.
I tilted my body to see this madness unfolding before me.
She told me she was a dragon. some truth you don’t really grasp until you witness them. A ball of lightening exploded below me, a heated updraft of air, nearly stalling my fall.
An aquamarine dragon, with scales like clear blue skies roared to the world, wings like twin sails that drew the light, eyes like the purest of gems, and it form was streamlined, for she pierced through the air, she hovered below me, by some fantastical magic I did not grasp I fell slower, then like a gear finding a fitting mesh I alighted on her back.
Her voice rang out in the air “ so Nephilim, ready for round two?”
The silver flames poured from my heart and circled my arms, like little lively snakes
“The flame consumes!”

Immovable Mage
What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation awes everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. Terry loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a family. Terry starts to train as a pure mana cultivator but never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork… Until finally, Terry’s perseverance earns him a single spell – the only spell he will ever be able to cast. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. Further Arcs are still in the sketching and idea collection phase.

The Shadow Rogue
Since ages past, the kingdoms of [Cuntersia] and [Wankeryl] have been locked in a stalemate of unending war. Recently, they have been in a conflict for [Kokaine], a resource that can only be found between the borders of the two countries. Revered for its ability to significantly raise the magical and physical potential of anyone who uses it, neither kingdom could afford to yield the vast fields of [Kokaine] to the other. As the two superpowers clash, a single hero emerges, bestowed with overwhelming combat ability and strength. Possessing the finesse to turn the tide of the war either way, which side would he choose? Or will he forge his own path of solitary conquest and get high by sniffing [Kokaine]? NOTE: This story takes place in a medieval fantasy setting with swords and magic. There are Elves, Beastkin, Orcs, and monsters as well. There will be a lot of lame jokes and names, please don't be offended. And remember to leave a review! This is just a joke novel, although it gets a bit more serious after the first few chapters. Credits to user Tanaka Tomoyuki for suggesting me the synopsis.
