《The scale of God》An angel's thesis

Kai’s eagerness to leave his hometown for a better life backfired. He’d always wanted to be a hero, but he had never thought he’d be fighting supernatural beings. Standing before him was a tall woman wielding a golden sword bright enough to turn night into day, glistening on her Hazel skin. Each step she takes towards comes with the sound of naught, her every stride carries no sound.

“Kai, Kai move. Kai we have to go, we can’t fight here,”, Kai stands as if he is encased in cement.

“Saraqael, you’ve become weak. No matter, We can still put you to use.”, She raises her sword with both hands, swinging downwards. Kai puts his hand on her shoulder, teleporting the three of them away. Now outside of what seems to be an amusement park, both of Uriel’s arms are gone and her weapon nowhere to be found.

“Teleportation works with your center of mass, right? Since you were moving during my teleport, you lost your arms,”, Kai monitors the angel as he backs away slowly, shielding Muina with his left hand.

“You idiot. I thought you died before you could feed me”, Muina sighs as she was more focused on her hunger than Kai’s life.

“My My Saraqael. You’ve gotten brave to defy me!” Uriel’s arm regenerates as she has a cynical smile on her face. Is she an angel or a demon?

“Muina, who’s Saraqael? Is that your actual name?”

“N-No, Saraqael was an archangel. One of my comrades. He died recently so-”

Kai pushes Muina to the side as a golden flash swings at them from the ground up, destroying the concrete wall of the building behind them. Uriel’s sword flew to her as shown by the several damaged houses on its path here. Swinging horizontally at Kai, the first layer of the ground below them shatters, causing Kai to trip. She stabs at his chest, hitting the ground instead.

“Hey, angel! I’m up here!” Kai falls through the air, hitting her in the forehead. With Uriel shaken by the attack, Kai follows up with a right hook. Even when she’s on the losing side of a fight, her steps carry no sound. She fumbles backward as a flash of light flies by his eye’s, the tree’s up to a mile away fall in unison from the swing of Uriel’s sword. The air pressure from each of her swings forces Kai into retreat, covering Muina as they run in through the gates of the park.

“Kai, we can’t put the people here in danger”, Muina expresses her concern as she’s being carried by Kai like a princess.

“Don’t worry, I have a plan”

The blinding array of colors and the sound’s of joy and pure amusement put further anxiety into Muina. What could Kai’s plan be to involve these citizens? The crazed, obsessed angel trails behind them, slowly dragging her sword through the sand as parents grab a hold of their children.

“Sa-Ra-Qael!”, her walk turns into a sprint as kids jolt in fear and parents call authorities.

“Muina, I want you to start the merry-go-round, put it on the fastest speed”, Kai holds onto her shoulder, taking quick glances as Uriel gets closer and closer

“I, I have no clue what that is!”

“The spinny horsey thing! Now go!”

Kai pushes Muina quickly enough to avoid a downward strike from Uriel that destroys a small peanut shop.

“Saraqael!”

Kai uppercuts her in the stomach.

“My name is Kai bitch!” An icy chill runs through Kai forcing him to dodge downwards as a fast strike from Uriel slice’s the base of the Ferris wheel 50 feet away causing it to fall. The screams from the riders echo through the grounds as cheerful music plays from the park speakers.

“Muina!”, Kai shouts as he continues to dodge Uriel’s advances.

“I’m on it!” Muina leave’s the speeding merry-go-round teleporting to the very top of the Ferris wheel. Children and adults alike watch as a middle schooler floats through the air carrying a Ferris wheel above her head.

“I’m not sure what it is you want with me, but whatever it is, don’t go harming innocent people!” Kai punches Uriel in the face. He kicks her unto the rapidly spinning merry-go-round and grabs her sword.

“If I’m going to call myself a hero, I Can’t sit back and let someone like you roam around this city”

Kai stands outside of the ride as Uriel struggles to get up, reaching her hand out for her sword as she spins around. Kai touches her hand, teleporting them both into the air. Uriel’s Right half is missing as Kai severs the rest of her body as they plummet to the earth. Her body regenerates as she grabs Kai’s head and headbutts him. Kai plunges the sword through her chest as a golden stream of light plummets into the earth from 100 feet in the air. The red and blue flashes of light from the police and ambulance drown out the yellow lights of the amusement park. The calls had specified a crazed woman with a weapon attacking two children, but on arrival at the scene, authorities could only identify an unconscious adolescent male.

The hospital’s bland white walls bore Kai as Muina scarfs down his meal, leaving a mess all over her face.

“Hey can I get a bite of that I’m starving too you know”

“I have to check for poisons. Uriel got away so we don’t know if she’ll try to get you by other means,”, gracefully placing the tray of food on the end of the bed “I told you there was poison. My stomach has an odd feeling. Please excuse me”

After Muina leaves the room, the scary-looking nurse with red eyes comes in after.

“Kai, you have another visitor. Popular, aren’t we?”, another visitor? Could it be the dorm mother? Kai’s father wouldn’t have taken his time out to visit him, so the only other person who could be possibly visiting Kai is…

“Saraqael. Do you hate me?”, Uriel sports a dark blue shirt dress with gold earrings.

“How are you still alive? Why are you still following me?” Kai attempts to leave the bed but is incapable because of his injuries.

“Do you not wish to save those of earth, Saraqael?”, Uriel sits on the bed next to Kai.

“Save them? How is attacking me going to save the earth?”

“God’s Scale is tilting Saraqael”

“God’s scale? What is that?”

“The balance between good and evil”, Muina stands, arms folded at the door to the room.

“Correct, the scale is being tilted towards evil. If there is an overabundance of either, the earth will have to be remade,”, Uriel sips Kai’s orange juice lying on his side table.

“I see, but what does that have to do with me? Why was I being attacked?”

“The others believe that with the power of all 7 archangels, we can create an artificial God. Someone who can bring balance to the scale again”

“You are aware of the punishment creating a false god entails correct?”, Muina’s voice rises above her usual tone.

“Wait, Muina, you can fix this, right? You’re…. God, right?”, Kai’s nervous smile could cast worry through anyone’s heart.

“God? She is but a keeper of God’s knowledge, a defender of God’s throne” The tension in this hospital room is as equal to the force of the current in the ocean's bottom.

“I won’t allow you to throw your life away for a fake god! I’ll save the world my damn self if I have to!”, he leaves the girls speechless.

“How many angels are out there?”

“There are only 7 archangels like Uriel, and apparently you. Who knows how many weaker angels are out there”

“If I’m the reincarnation of this Saraqael, are you a reincarnation, Uriel?”

“Yes, though my memories only came to fruition a few days ago, and yours has yet to resurface, it seems.”

“If that’s true, then we can assume that the others’ memories haven’t resurfaced, right? They won’t be able to defend themselves. I can’t allow them to die if I’m capable of stopping it.”

The nurse knocks on the door as she peeks in the room. Her patient enjoys a conversation with two beautiful women after enjoying his meal and drink. A job well done.

“Ok Kai, you’re good to go. You were shaken up. The police are actively looking for who attacked you so you won’t have to worry ok?”

After being discharged, Kai walks to the dormitory. Teleporting is risky since he’s so exhausted. The yellow lights shine through the dorm windows as Kai opens the gate with his id card. He goes to knock on the door when it opens to the Dorm mother.

“Kai, you’re back! I had no clue you left it’s like you teleported”, Wearing an apron and holding a metal ladle she is the embodiment of a mom.

“Yeah, I’m back. Did Muina come by already?”

“Oh yeah, she and your friend have been enjoying our cooking more than any of the other boys”

“Wait, friend?”

The dorm cafeteria with yellow light chandeliers reflecting off the surface of its mahogany chairs and tables holds an abundance of young boys, and two very out of place girls. The boys are amazed by their endless stomach as plates pile up next to them. A chill, colder than the rest courses through Kai’s body. Looking around the area carefully he sees nothing but happy kids and a happy mother with no signs of danger at all. Maybe it was a false alarm. Hopefully.

“Saraqael you look tired, come lay on lap”, She might be a crazy, obsessed angel but no man would pass up on that opportunity. Laying on her pillow's soft thighs Kai releases a sigh of pleasure, as she plays through his hair you could visibly see all his problems disperse into the air. His moment of bliss disappears as the covering from the table cover’s his face. Struggling to take it off, he hits his head. Uriel’s hands go cold as she lets go of Kai’s head. His eyes fixated on something under the table. A lion, a cheetah, no… a panther. A panther lies under the table, gnawing on some meat. Was Kai hallucinating the animal? That could be the case. His head hasn’t been the same since his fight. He saw visions of places he’s never been, things he had never done before. The panther disappears as he blinks.

“I’m going to go take that bath now. Uriel, you should head home”

“Home? I have no home here in this realm. I’ll stay with you Saraqael,”, for a girl this tall she is cute.

“You can’t stay with me, they already have 1 too many girls here, anyway.”

“No, no, she can stay! Though she doesn’t look like a student. You might have to do some work for me. How about it,”, the dorm mother strikes a deal with Uriel? That takes care of that.

Kai’s room is lit up. Is someone in there? Upon opening the door, he finds the television on playing some hunting channel. His bed is neatly spread while his roommate’s looks like a pack of dogs. Smut mags all over the floor, rock band posters all on the walls. Yup, this is a teenager’s room alright. Kai gets his towel and clothes and waits at the bathroom door, seems it’s occupied. The door opens as the steam from the hot bath covers his body. He’s greeted by a fairly muscular body with brown hair up in a ponytail. He smiles at Kai as he’s about to wipe his face with the towel.

“Oh hey Angel boy, welcome back”
