《Amulet of Infinity》7 [Origins] A short prelude to battle

Swallow and Jote , after having a laugh at Noh’s expense, settle in to listen to the story that he reluctantly started. Almost twenty years ago, a teacher was called from Tumal because of magic sickness. No one in Ahnek was familiar with using wind magic and the King ordered Noh’s family to have him trained as soon as possible. The teacher was a well-known assassin called “Windslayer”. Information regarding the assassin’s identity was inconclusive including gender information. Two people showed up at that time, a man and a woman. It turns out the woman was Windslayer and the man was referred to as Immortal. Immortal was a life mage and it turned out he would need those services with the regimen Windslayer had been contracted to provide. “I have been trained as an assassin. Esther just confirmed that my master, Windslayer, was her mother. I’d wager Immortal was her father based on how close they were. Because of their status, I never heard their names, but I remember seeing something strange on his back one day when he was practicing with the sword and being told to never ask about it again.” Wyen swallowed hard before looking at the others. Windslayer and Immortal where legendary adventurers that retired about the same time Noh was being trained. It was said that they were responsible for the end of slavery and most of the larger criminal organizations in Ahnek andTumal.
“So, is it too late for me to go back to Ahnek gentlemen?” Swallow looks at Wyen carefully. Jote tells Wyen, “If you leave, you will not make it out of Tumal alive. I’m afraid that the wheels have already been set in motion to capture suspicious nobles. It is why we have to escort them. Couples are less suspicious.” “But those girls may be able to gut us in our sleep if they are Windslayer’s daughters. If they think we were somehow responsible for their parent’s deaths…..” Noh saw the problem quite quickly. “Based on what I know, master was killed more than five years ago. Esther looks to be the eldest, but she can be more than 17 based on how long I was trained. How deadly could they be if the eldest was no more than 12 when training was completed…. Windslayer didn’t strike me as someone who’d train a child that early. She was always worried about affecting the body’s development so I wouldn’t stand out in public.”

Around this time. A member of the city guard rushed in. “Bandits! Hundreds of them! Can you fight?” All four men nod. It’s almost a vacation from the tension in the air regarding the girls they’re here for. “Cael, you and your cousins are needed. We’re under attack.” Noh yelled. To the others, “If they are who they appear to be, do you not think they may be of some use? At least Wyen can put to rest his fears if they aren’t who they say they are.” The girls hurried out, having already finished the initial fittings. The group of eight nobles walked out, “By the way, do you girls have your adventurer certificates?” Esther being the eldest responded, “I’m the only one old enough to register and I’ve not gotten to it.” This shocked the guys who thought that all three of them were over twelve if not fifteen. The guild requires one to be fifteen to register at the very least and nobles enter the advanced school around then under the assumption that basic education would have been handled by their familes. What’s worse, unknown to the guys, Cael was only fourteen herself and was the most educated.
“Alright, I’ll get you special passes to the Ahnek Imperial School after this ball. After all, if the Princess is after you, out of the country will be better and with your lineage, even if it turns out not to be royal, the school will not turn you down. The Windslayer was a great adventurer and anyone connected to her is a feather in their crown.” The girls looked between themselves, ‘school? And an imperial one at that for nobles?’ Esther, speaking for the group, pondered aloud, “Isn’t that just as dangerous as the Princess?”

All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.

Gram Bloodfeast: Retired Warlock
Gram Bloodfeast was once one of the most powerful warlocks of his era. There was a time when he commanded armies of the undead, conquering anyone who he dared lay a path against. There was a time when whole rooms of people would go silent with insane, palpable fear at the mere mention of his name. There was a time when he was enemy number one, whole legions of skilled combatants storming his stronghold of ice and stone to take his head. There was a time when he decided, "I think I'm done." Gram Bloodfeast, is now retired, living in a cozy 2 bedroom suburban house. (Credit for the cover art goes to Phasmonyc) [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Cheaters Always Win
Chester Everheart knew that life wasn't fair. Some were born in situations where it was almost impossible to succeed, whereas others were born with a silver spoon with everything at their disposal. A scant few were dropped into another world, filled with monsters and magic and forced to fend for themselves. The latter was a rare, somewhat ridiculous trope; but it happened to him anyway. Despite this he followed a motto that applied regardless of the dimension he was in. Playing fair is for suckers, and cheaters always win. Cheaters Always Win is a comedy-adventure that I've had churning in my head for a couple years now. I'd like to think it still has the charm that most LitRPGs have while also being unique in its own way. Every arc of the story will subsequently have a 'Level Complete' chapter that details all the stats, levels, equipment, etc. gained by the main cast of characters.
